Almost Ready for Anything

by

Tesla Westinghouse

The creatures hobbled around,

like drunks after a few drinks too many.

Their bodies pale and shriveled,

deteriorated into a haunting manner.

They operate on their own accord,

not following any rules.

Certainly not following the group,

even though they ban together at times.

...

Former members of my kind continue to walk,

as their body twitch occasionally.

Their cheeks spew out tongues of sparks and electricity,

so powerful that they engulf their bodies.

Instant death from physical contact,

or a blast of electricity if destroyed.

Other savages of the predecessor struggle to walk.

Their bellies swollen and full,

yet they did not eat like the others.

To reduce pressure they regurgitate,

making sickly noises that gives them away.

Sometimes they unleash the contents out through their mouths,

or receive a harsh disturbance to create gore confetti.

Several monsters walk into view,

their bodies engulfed in fire.

Yet their flesh does not burn,

their hair was long gone.

They somewhat represent the former,

and in another way they represent the new,

Breathing flames like the good old times.

Finally there are those with vines,

more than two to be exact.

Again they somewhat represent the former,

though it was a poor improvement.

They grab onto their victims and drag them in,

as its selfish comrades close in to help.

I clutch my rifle as I look out towards the beautiful sunrise,

reminding me of the world before.

None of these monsters were always like this,

days before they were like you and I.

I realize I may become one of them,

either I slip up or admit defeat.

There's no escaping them,

no matter how high or low I go.

I may become one of them,

just like my human friend and his Pikachu.

I felt my bones shiver at the thought.
