"What?" Squall shouted. "How can one get fired from SeeD?"
"Look, Squall," started Quistis, "I know it can be hard, but this was the nicest think they could have done after you tried to kill your squad leader."
"Does nobody listen to the other person's side of the story? He tried to kill me! I just happened to be caught winning the fight!" Squall had in fact been attacked by his squad leader, Seifer. Seifer and Squall had had a rivalry for a while and Seifer thought he found the perfect time to end it.
"Squall, doesn't that story sound a little farfetched?" asked Quistis. "Sure, I believe you, but that doesn't mean everyone else did."
Squall sighed. "Well, I guess it could be worse. Seifer could have won and I might not be having this conversation."
"Squall, dude," Squall heard Zell shout from afar. Zell ran up to the two talking SeeD members. "I'm sorry no one believed you and I'ma hate to see you go. But hey, if you're going might as well do what you can." Zell handed Squall his gunblade of which Zell took from the evidence stand as he was leaving.
"Zell, if you get caught with this you'll…"
"No dude, I got it for you to take with you," Zell said. "Firing you is the same thing as giving you the death penalty. They drain your gather Mana and take your weapons so you can't fight the creatures outside of the garden. It's just a more legal way of killing you with less paperwork."
"What?" Squall hadn't thought of that. "God I need to get out of here, now! I can't let them leave me helpless!"
"Don't worry." Zell started. "I also stole my hoverboard back for you to escape on. I know you'll need it to get passed security."
"Thanks Zell," Squall said. Squall sheathed his sword, got onto the hoverboard, and took saw himself heading straight toward a group of security officers by the main gate. "Alright, all or nothing," he said to himself as he flipped the hoverboard into the air over the guards and gates. He raced down the street and out of the Garden. "Phew, made it!" he shouted with victory, but a rather large gust threw him off the board and off into the nearby forest, where he blacked out.
