CLATO! I am really into Clato lately. And I just thought that this idea would have really fit them!

The Things They Said… and what they meant.

"Jerk,"

Meant, "Fine, you're right." It meant, "I surrender."

Of course she never said that out loud.

(Because she's Clove, and Clove never surrenders to Cato.)

"You're an idiot,"

Because he never paid any attention to her, even when she dressed her best (just for him, too.)

So she pretended she didn't care.

And he's smart, really.

He's just blind.

(But there really has to be a limit to how dense someone can be.)

"No,"

Meant refusal. "No, I will not let you touch my hair, Clove."

It meant disapproval. "No, he is not good enough for you."

It meant denial. "No, I do not love Clove."

(But really, it's dumb to deny the inevitable.)

"I'm sorry."

He hated it when she's mad at him.

So even if he was right, (because she really had to work on her left throws)

And even when he didn't feel guilty (because her ex really deserved that punch in the face)

He's always at her door with flowers and the words waiting on his lips. I'm sorry.

(Because even the humiliation of apologizing was better than her ignoring him. He needed her.)

and "I love you."

Meant just that.
