Summary: "Okaay, this is like talking about Mom and Dad doing... So, can we maybe not?" AU - takes place before 5x04. Mostly dialogue oneshot.

So, it's short but I couldn't think of much else to say without taking it too far. This is written before Murder, He Wrote. No spoilers and anything that happened in that episode hasn't happened yet.

"Yo," Esposito comes around his desk and rests on Ryan's. "Castle and Beckett leave?"

"Castle a while ago, Beckett just now, yeah," Ryan answers. "Why? New case?"

They finished their current case just that afternoon, it ending up being a very simple motive to the most obvious killer.

"Nope, nothing new," Esposito says. "I just wanted to ask Castle about Beckett's boyfriend."

"What about him? I thought you were going to let that go, Javi," Ryan says. "Unless...you got something new?"

Esposito shakes his head, "Nah. I just wanted to bounce back theories with him. He's pretty into finding out who they are."

"Yeah...but why?" Ryan asks. "I mean...yeah, why?"

"So he knows who the competition is? I don't know," Esposito says.

"Competition," Ryan scoffs. "Yeah, maybe." They're quiet for a moment and then Ryan speaks up again, "However..."

"However what, Kevin?" Javier asks.

"It's just...no, it's nothing."

Esposito narrows his eyes, "It ain't nothing. What?"

"It's just, Castle, he's been really...happy lately?" Ryan shrugs. "I mean, it's probably nothing."

"No, no, you're right. He has been. Almost as happy as Beckett. But that makes sense, if she has a new boyfriend, she should be happy," Ryan's partner says.

"Yeah..." There's another moment of silence. "Javi? Do you think...?"

"Do I think what? Am I thinking what you're thinking?" Javier says. "I just might be."

"You think they're together then?" Ryan asks his partner.

"Well, yeah," Esposito nods. "Lanie knows Beckett's having sex, they've both been uncharacteristically happy lately, both awkwardly avoiding the topic and changing the topic a lot... They've got to be having sex."

"Okaay, this is like talking about Mom and Dad doing... So, can we maybe not?" Ryan cringes.

"They're not Mom and Dad, bro," Esposito says. "Now, all we have to do is catch them in a lie or something."

"Well, didn't Beckett say she was going away with her boyfriend this weekend?" Ryan asks. "Easy enough right there if it's Castle. Just set them up and get it out of them."

"I knew there was a reason we were partners," Esposito knocks Ryan's arm and the two laugh. "You know, it's about damn time too."
