The Ghost King Can Cry Too

The first memory he ever had of crying was when his sister died. The horrible traitor Perseus Jackson had promised him! Promised! And he went back on his word and just said sorry. Sorry didn't just cut it. He had just lost the only approachable family member( Hades is not the type you call approachable) he had. How could Percy do that? You can't expect to say, "I promise that I will help her live," then come back and get away by just saying, "Your sister is a heroine. She died for noble causes."

He didn't care. He just wanted his sister back.

So the evening found him crying under a tree in the forest. He had only just ran away from Percy. He didn't know how, but no one seemed to see him under the tree's shadow. He still felt upset. He had even planned to stop playing(or ranting about) Mythomagic for once so he could spend more time with his sister before she left with the' eternal girls club'.

" I see that you have learnt how to become one with the shadows. Well done, child." A voice startled him. Towering above him, was Hades, Lord of the Underworld." And I would not tolerate any crying or whining from you. They are for wimps. You are the Prince of the Underworld, and I expect the best from you." Nico wiped away his tears and followed Hades to the Underworld.

He couldn't afford to cry again, not when father told him not to. But the liquid still flowed across his face on one depressing day. His father had commented that he would have never been better than his sister. Don't get him wrong, he loved Bianca, but the fact that this was said by his only family…

Since he couldn't help Percy yet, as his father was still prowling outside the cell, he retreated to his room and started to cry. The only family he had now…did not appreciate him. Hell, he'd even lost his only friend.

He was useless.

Nico slumped onto the pillows and released all his tears into it.

He tried not to cry, not when father didn't like it. He couldn't afford to be any lower in father's opinion. However, he did cry when his father personally tried to murder him.

Getting a bomb thrown at him wouldn't even bother him. However, when it was thrown by his very own father…

He would have cried hugging his mother's picture all day, but he still had things to do, which was the thing that earned him the bomb in the first place.

He sworn not to cry again(not on the River Styx).

But he still would have more tears, in the future.

For Nico di Angelo, Son of Hades, Ghost King, Prince of the Underworld, could cry too.

Just like anyone else.
