For as long as he could remember, the Ghost Zone was green. From his first accidental visit where the swirls made him dizzy and the miscellaneous doors tripped him in midair, to his world broadcasted coronation and marriage ceremony the sky was green. Now, fifteen years after that first trip into the realm of the dead, Danny stared at what was not a green sky in the Ghost Zone wondering if Dora was right and he should take a vacation to destress his mind.

It wasn't a huge section and it wasn't too different from what was there before, but the color change was noticeable enough; what used to be a neon swirling mass was closer to a blue-green, resembling Danny's ghostly teal eyes as if the Ghost Zone wanted to reassure its residents their king was watching over them, keeping them safe and sound.

"Remarkable, isn't it?" a voice quarried next to the king.

Turning, Danny was met by the Ghost Writer gazing out the window with the same wonder in his eyes as his king. Not long after the library of Phantom's Keep was finished being built the book obsessed ghost begin visiting, occasionally bringing copies of books from his own library to help stock the bare shelves. After that he became a frequent visitor, spending nearly half of his time in the Keep's library reading books that came from all sectors of the Ghost Zone and keeping Danny up to par on his education -now being one of those teaching instances.

"Does this happen often and I've just been missing it or are we both going crazy" Danny asked his once enemy. The Ghost Writer chuckled in response, staring a few more seconds before finally tearing his gaze away to address his king properly.

"Your Highness, this right here is one of the natural wonders of the Ghost Zone," he began, excitement on the edge of his voice as he continued, "I never thought I'd see the day it would happen -surely I would fade before the council could agree on a new king- and yet here we are looking at a changing sky, a new era in the Ghost Zone! Imagine-"

"Woah there, 'Writer, slow down," Danny interrupted the ghost with a grin, "you haven't even explained what's going on yet." So many years talking with the writing ghost had the king used to the rapid trains of thought and jumps in conversation.

"My apologies, sire." Ghost Writer gave an apologetic bow, one of the habits Danny couldn't seem to break people of. The older ghost took a moment to glance out the window once more and gather his thoughts before turning back to the king to explain. "As I have told you before, the Ghost Zone itself is a sentient being, creating lairs and land masses when appropriate, forming portals between time and space, even guiding its residents when needed.

"Since the beginnings of hierarchy in this realm, the Ghost Zone has taken care to reflect the ghostly figure leading its inhabitants. The first sky the Zone ever had was blue, reflecting the world of the living, the realm it originally based itself on. When the first king was chosen thousands of years ago, this realm honored the king by changing the color of the sky. In such case the sky turned red, the same color of the king's eyes and the energy he held. The same happened with every subsequent king and queen up until the one before you, his Highness Pariah Dark, who was honored by his own eye color and the flame of his hair."

Danny averted his gaze from Ghost Writer's wide grin to process the new information, then looked back to the blue-green swirl above his Keep. "So the Ghost Zone is changing because I'm king." The writer nodded, grin growing. "And, eventually, the whole sky of the Zone will change?"

Ghost Writer gave an ecstatic laugh, "marvelous, isn't it?" The two slipped into a comfortable silence, pondering the new sky.
