Bella POV

Alice ran to get the door and we quickly took up different activities as she did. I went up to my room and hid the book in the back of my closet hoping to keep human eyes off of it. I fixed my bed and straightened the covers. I sighed and glanced in the corner and found that an old statue of a warrior princess that Esme had gotten was covered in clothing. I rectified this and went downstairs.

The officer was currently talking to Carlisle and Esme explaining that he was here to talk to me if he could. I tried really hard to duck into the kitchen without being noticed but damn was he observant!

"Ah, Bella correct?" he asked and I mentally cringed at what was to come.

I turned and smiled brightly at him. "Yes can I help you?" I asked. I asked motioning calmly to the living room.

"I'm sure you know why I'm here," he sat, "so lets not beat around the bush."

His tone suggested that he was an impatient man. I rose a brow at him.

"Alright then." I say slightly irked.

"My first question is how is it that a seventeen year old girl with your stature is able to take down men that are as big as bears?" he asked, taking out a pen and notepad.

"I'm a featherweight MMA champion. They are nothing compared to a real fighter." I say.

"You're seventeen." he said.

"Your point?" I ask.

He frowned. "How many years have you competed?"

"Two." his frowned deepened

"How long have you trained?" he asked.

"Since I was 8." I say.

He stared at me for a long moment. "...So um… how do you know the intruders?"

"I don't really, they were just around my mother whenever she…" I trailed off.

He seemed confused by my sudden hesitance. "Whenever she what?"

Edward, who was standing behind me, placed his hands on my shoulders. "Bella's mother was… unstable. She was admitted to a mental ward but she still manages to assault Bella every year on her birthday."

He was shocked at this. "You believe that the two incidents are related?"

"Yes I do." I say immediately.

"Do you have any evidence of this?"

"He had a picture of me when I was younger, only Renee had that specific picture." I explained.

He nodded. "The men claimed that you were a murderer and that you not only killed Renee but you are also responsible for Charlie's murder. They say that you had covered their murders up and that you Renee's sudden disappearance is your fault, they only broke into the school to find out what you did with Renee."

I stared at him in complete and utter shock and confusion as it registered. When I did finally understand I couldn't help but break out in laughter. The officer was looking on in complete and utter horror.

Jasper face palmed, while Emmett snorted at me. Edward, I'm sure was rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"I'm sorry," I gasped, "It's just that that was so ridiculous I couldn't help but laugh. Charlie was my father and still is even if he is gone. I would never hurt him, I love him too much."

My tone turned sad at the end and sorrowful was my gaze.

"And Renee?" he asked.

"Though I hate the very ground she walks on and I would love to see her in the ground. I don't care enough to go after her." I say my tone changing to one of distaste.

"Why should I believe that?" he asked.

"Why waste time on something you care nothing about?" I asked him in answer.

"Good question." He said. "Well I think we are through here. The three men are being charged and their trial is set, can I count on you to be a witness?"

"Sure." I say, standing up along with him.

"If you need anything at all please contact me." he said handing me a card. It had his contact information on it along with his name and mailing address.

"Will do, Officer Burnard." I saluted.

He nodded and showed him out. Once the door was safely closed, I watched as he left in his police cruiser. When he was gone I ripped the card up and threw it in a waste basket. "Thanks but no thanks." I muttered.

With that I carried on with my day.
