BEGIN

There was a snap, then a roar...

The sun hid behind the rolling green hills to come back another day.

A pounding erupted in my head. I winced and bit my wrist to stifle any cries of pain. "What's happening?"

Trees came barreling down from the north, and birds flew away, squawking with terror.

"Natsu is running low on magic, something triggered it. We need to get to the guild." Erza commanded. She and Gray pulled Natsu up to carry him away.

Thumps sounded and thunder followed. A large black shadow revealed itself from behind the trees, huge wings in the air similar to swords. Blue crescents reflected onto the dying grass in the moonlight. Sharp fangs glittered in its mouth.

Another roar pierced my ears.

Acnologia... Why do you resemble death?

The right wing of the beast came crashing down into the clearing, splitting the ground into quarters. Rocks jutting out from all angles.

Screeches of the others ripped through the dusty air.

"Get out of here!" I yelled.

"No! Come with us! Elle, you'll die!" Lisanna replied before covering her mouth with her hand. I attempted a smile in return, but in return, I felt more tears.

"It's too late for that." I responded.

Erza nodded at me and dragged the others away with her.

"Why is this all happening?" I questioned before concentrating my magic. The dragon stomped and prepared for an attack, aiming in the direction of my teammates. I ran near its tail to distract it. "I'm your opponent! Fight me!" I punched it with all of the strength I could muster. It growled and faced me with its glaring eyes. It raised a claw and swung forcefully. I swiftly dodged the blow that caused the ground to shatter and pieces to fly. Quickly, the dragon swatted the air with its other claw, dragging me to the ground. I choked. Acnologia applied more pressure, pushing me further into the earth. My bones surely have broken by now.

"What am I even doing? I don't care if my bones break, I'm going to fight as hard as I can!" A sword appeared in my hand and I stabbed the dragon thought its scales. It roared at me without magic and I pushed the sword as deep as I could before the blade broke off of the handle. Acnologia picked up its paw to shake out the blade, but it had broken within his hand, allowing for no removal other than time-consuming prying with tools.

It stomped, trying to crush me again. I summoned wings and another, larger sword appeared next to me. I flew to its underside to slice chunks of its belly. Blood covered me and began to create small pools in the damaged ground. I chopped a chunk of the heart out of the beast. Hopefully it was enough...

Magic was being drained from the nearby areas. It's going to roar! "What do I do?" It's started to open its jaw. "This is risky, but what's the worst that can happen to someone already dead?" I tried to smile bitterly. I flew to its snout and another sword appeared. I dove into its mouth and began slicing furiously down its slimy throat. Blood dripped and splattered, nearly hindering my vision. I continued until I heard a distinct gag from the large creature. The muscles around me began to compress. I need to get out of here, now. I turned to face back to the mouth and pushed my feet on the throat to propel myself. I launched up and out in time.

The dragon looked to me and attempted a roar. Air came out shakily along with blobs of blood. It ended as a scream for help, rather than a mighty dragon's battle cry. It's legs gave out beneath him and he landed with a ground-shaking thump. The creature breathed heavily, still coughing up blood and parts of muscle. It dropped its head to the ground after trying to pick itself up with the uncut front claw and falling into a previously broken pit between masses of earth.

Another pitiful cry came from the dragon.

I landed on the ground and cautiously stepped toward the beast. It snapped its jaws slowly to warn me to get away before I would be injured. I grabbed a sharp tooth with both hands and tugged. The dragon screeched as I claimed my prize. It was easily the size of my body, the tooth. I set it beside me and patted the head of my opponent on the side of the snout.

"I think it's time that you rest. You've lived your years, for that I admire you. Goodbye."

The beast struggled to keep its stony eyes open. It's eyelids drooped and closed for an eternal sleep.

I stepped back and noticed specks of magic floating around the dragon. I pulled the corners of my lips upward and began to walk to the guild, my sword's blade dragging behind me in the dirt to eventually disappear.

I walked mindlessly, looking at the ground below me and feeling civilians avoid me once I had reached Magnolia. The blood was beginning to dry out on my dress, making it clumpy and immobile. I should have bathed before I came back.

"Elle! What happened to you!" A worried guild member asked.

I sighed and continued to the infirmary. Luckily, Mirajane was there and she offered me new clothes after I assured her that I had no injuries to worry about.

I noticed Natsu was laying in one of the beds. "Is he alright?" I spoke after Mirajane assisted me in changing.

"Yeah. He just needs a little rest and he'll be as good as new!" She smiled at me and patted my shoulder. "Erza told me about the mission and when Natsu's magic drained, but she never explained why they left you in a hurry." She wondered.

"How do I say this without concerning you..." I whispered. "Well, guess there was a certain...being that we didn't expect to be there." I chose my words carefully.

"Oh? And who was that?" Her eyebrows raised.

"Promise me not to say anything about this."

"...Alright. I won't say a word."

I pulled her down to my height and whispered in her ear.

She gasped and stood. "I need to tell Master about—"

"One: I told you not to say anything. Two: it's already taken care of."

"You don't mean..."

"It's dead."

Mirajane was silent. "You did that by yourself?" She finally inquired.

I nodded. She fell to her knees and wrapped her arms around my waist. "Thank you, Elle. Just by doing that you've saved everyone."

Saved everyone...

But, I need to be selfish now and save myself.

I need to find why I'm here and how I can either return for good, or be gone forever.

DONE

Well, what do you think? It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm sorry. I have nothing to say other than that I hadn't had the motivation to continue. It's also a short chapter. I'm kind of lost on where to go.
Do you want me to continue this story? I, myself don't want to if I don't have any support or people waiting for more. Please review!
I hope you enjoyed and I shall see you soon!
