Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Space Enforcers

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon. The right belongs to Nintendo.

AN: Nothing much to author note about except that I will be updating more often now. Expect updates in about a 2 week span of time. I might also be making a PJO fic so stay tuned for that if you like Percy Jackson and the Olympian type of stuff. Kind of sad about the lack of reviews, but I guess that is ok. BIG THANKS TO MY BETA SOLDIER OF THE FUTURE AS WELL HE IS MUCHO AWESOME!

Yellow Curtain; Field Agents Office of Operations

There were many feelings swirling around Cinder's mind as he entered the office. His first thought was "Wow! It's so neat! Or I'm hungry…" But all his thoughts swirled down the drain and got replaced by an entirely new thought: "OH MY GOSH, IT'S PIKACHU!" The mental thought alone was able to overwhelm the small Fire-type and caused him to faint on his back, still holding the obsessed fanboy expression on his face as he did so.

"Is he awake?" a soft, yet powerful, voice asked. The Cyndaquil slowly got up from his position on the floor and regained his footing, albeit a little dazed. He then noticed that Ash and Pikachu were staring at him, an appearance of concern evident on Ash's face, and a stoic look on Pikachu's. Cinder scratch his head in embarrassment as he recakked what happened right after he saw the Legendary Enforcer right in front of him.

"I'm sorry sir. I was just a bit excited, that is all. It's just that I have always wanted to meet you," Cinder spoke, with a slightly embarrassed attitude. Pikachu nodded; he was certainly used to the type of reactions that came from those who met him face-to-face.

"Well, if you are done, I believe you came here to learn more about my station, the Field Agents" The Pokémon began. "I will gladly tell you about this way of life, and what you must do to climb the ranks of the Field Agents. Listen closely, for I will not repeat myself," Pikachu told them with his soft voice. Ash and Cinder nodded silently and prepared themselves for his explanation.

"You see," Pikachu started before resuming his statement with, "The Field Agents are the most prestigious group that the Enforcers have to offer. We also carry the most responsibility as well. We are the face of the entire organization. If we mess up, then it will make the entire Enforcers organization look bad, and we definitely do not want that to become a reality. Also, the Field Agents is an independent group of the Enforcers. We govern ourselves, and Lucario himself does not possess jurisdiction over us. The Field Agents operate by our own agenda and the rest of the organizations go by their own. We are essentially two different entities cooperating with each other because it benefits us and nothing more. It's our job to capture criminals, explore dangerous areas to make them safer for the explorers, and to virtually act as Police Pokémon. If you choose to join the path of the Field Agents, all I can say is that the career will be brutal, difficult, and you are going to cry yourself to sleep every night. But I assure you, if you join us, I can guarantee you that you will be pleased with the results. That is all I have to say to you, and if you decide join us, you will know more about us. I suggest that you sleep on it, and inform Lucario of your decision by tomorrow morning." He finished his rationalization with a curt nod.

"Thank you sir," Ash and Cinder said in sync, "Goodbye." And with that, the two rookies left the office, traversed through the hectic hall of the Field Agents, went through the curtain and sighed with relief.

"Well I'm glad that it's over. I think I know what I want to be now," Cinder told Ash. Much to his surprise however, Ash was nowhere to be seen. Cinder did see little smudge marks on the floor leading into the Black Curtain though. The Fire-type sighed. His partner might've been a little too curious for his own good. But then again…Cinder remembered that at times, he was more childish than his amnesic partner. He released another breath again, and slowly headed inside the chamber with the black curtain covering it.

Black Curtain; Unknown Use

As soon as Cinder made his way across, he caught a familiar smell. It was his partner, Ash! The Cyndaquil sighed, again, as he realized that his hunch was correct: Ash did wander off in here after all. After realizing that his partner was safe, he took some time to examine his surroundings a little bit. He was in the room anyway, so it wouldn't exactly hurt to just see what was inside of it. Cinder thought to himself as he viewed the area. Everything in the room seemed to generate a glow of eerie, blue-colored light. Disembodied voices bounced off the walls and whispered words of nonsense which seemed to carry a sense of unease with them. Ash himself, who finally noticed that Cinder was here in the room, ran towards him.

"I don't have a good feeling about this Cinder…," Ash whispered quietly. The voices and the light were starting to freak him out a bit. Cinder didn't blame him, the room did not seem… natural, and it held an aura of unease. The voices were getting louder with each passing second, and the light seemed to get brighter, the words that used to be incoherent slowly formed themselves into words that could be recognized. Cinder realized that it was not safe in this room, and nudged Ash, who seemed to be frozen with fear. Seeing this, Cinder shot a weak ember at his partner, which worked, as Ash started to move again.

"I think we should leave…," Ash recommended softly to Cinder, who could only nod in agreement. They sprinted for the curtain and left the room safely. The two rookies could only wonder what would have happened if they stayed in the room for a little bit longer. The very thought made the duo shudder in fright.

Main Hall

The rookies waited in the hall for Lucario, still feeling slightly unnerved about the Black Curtain chamber experience. For one thing, they decided not to tell anybody about it. Cinder was afraid that they might be punished if they told anybody, and Ash agreed. The experience of what they went through was a secret to them: only they would know about it and nobody else. They decided to wait for a couple more minutes in total silence as they pondered to themselves quietly. Cinder was a bit confused though, since he did not understand why a room with bizarre qualities was inside the Enforcer's base. A room like that couldn't have just appeared out of the oblivion like that. There must be an explanation behind it all, but he just didn't know what it exactly was. Cinder was snapped out of his thoughts when Lucario entered the room. The Aura Pokémon had a calm and stoic face as usual when he walked over to the rookies. For a minute or two, the Pokémon seemed to look disapprovingly at the two rookies before resuming his calm façade. Cinder dismissed the look as being in his imagination.

"So," Lucario started, "Do you know what you want to be yet? I want your answer this instant." His voice had a certain edge to his voice, as if he was upset about something.

"Um sir, can you give me and my partner a little more time to decide whether or not we want to join a certain faction of the Enforcers?" Cinder asked respectfully, as he caught on to the fact that Lucario was upset about something, or someone.

"Of course… I always give time to new members…," Lucario trailed off distastefully as if he forced the words out of his mouth.

"Ash… Do you know what you want to be?" Cinder asked his friend quietly.

"I want to be whatever you want to be, and I think I might know what you want to become," Ash responded to his partner, whispering as well. Cinder nodded, and he knew what he was going to say.

"Lucario sir, we wish to be Field Agents," Cinder delivered as his final answer to the Leader of the Enforcer organization.

"Hmmph, I should've expected that," Lucario said. Cinder thought to himself; is something wrong with Lucario? It was a rare sight to see such an individual act like this.

"You two shall report to Pikachu now. He is your superior and you shall listen to every word he says. Display any insubordination and you two can say goodbye to your spots as Enforcers. Goodbye." And with that, the Aura Pokemon walked out of the room and vanished from sight.

"Well Cinder, are you ready for this?" Ash asked his partner, extremely excited, as they finally had found a place in the Enforcers that fit them perfectly.

"Of course Partner, but the question is, are you ready yourself?" Cinder asked Ash with a wry grin plastered on his face. Ash responded with a nod and a smile. "Well then, let's get this party started!" And then, the two rookies, no wait, Field Agents, walked through the door with the Yellow Curtain, determined to take the Pokémon World by storm.

That was the day they started on the path to becoming something entirely different: Legends.
