Human

Izaya

A/N:- Thank you for the reviews. So this one is the last chapter. Enjoy.

Now that he was safely in his lover's arm, he was regretting jumping from such a high building. If the blond had chosen to abandon him this time, everything would've been over. To do something so stupid, he really had it bad. Common sense had flown out of the window, for Shizu-chan's sake.

But there was something else wrong, he could feel it. The arms holding him were tense and solid, small tremors running through them. Glancing up he could see the worry in those soft coffee eyes. His lover looked like he was about to cry. Once again he had done something to upset him. Trying to lighten the mood, Izaya smiled. "Thanks Shizu-chan."

It only seemed to make things worse, his lover let go, letting him fall to the floor, it wasn't far, but it hurt. Maybe because it was a bad sign. "Ow! That hurt." He looked up to find his lover walking away from him, hands in his pocket. For the first time he noticed the bare feet. Ah! Shoes. That's what he had forgotten. "Shizu-chan. Wait!"

Nothing. The blond kept walking. Shit, this time he had really screwed up. Why couldn't he see that it was for his sake? Catching up with ease, he caught his lover's wrist. "I said wait!" A few seconds after and he was reaching for air, he had easily been shrugged off, Shizu-chan walking away from him, without looking or saying a single word. "Shizu-chan!" Stop. Please.

If anything the man in front of him became untouchable. His strides became longer and quicker, showing him just how much of a difference was between them and just how much the protozoan had been holding back. It was a lot. "Shizu-chan!" The blond was getting further and further away, forcing him to run. "Shizu-chan!"

Before Izaya could marvel at the blond's speed, he lost sight of him completely. "Shizu-chan! Oi, Shizu-chan!" Ignoring the looks he was being given, he checked every alleyway looking for his lover. It didn't take him long, Shizu-chan was slumped against the wall, looking tired and in pain. At least he knew where he was now.

Behind him he could see the dregs of the crowd that had been chasing him. Obviously they had either given up when they saw him jump off the building or when they had caught sight of the blond. "Orihara!" Really his humans could be so stupid sometimes. "Don't think you can get away this time."

He tried to keep on his usual poker face, but the irritation and worry he was feeling cracked the mask. Even as a brat with a baseball bat came at him, his knife found its way into his hand, pinning the teen to the wall, the sharp blade against his throat. "I'm not in a good enough mood to hold back right now. Do you want to die?"

Maybe later he would look back and laugh at the pale teen in front of him, who looked like he was about to wet himself. For now he pressed the blade just hard enough to draw blood. "Stop! Please. I'll do anything." Izaya grinned. "Really? Then I need a pair of shoes. You have five minutes to get them or your life is forfeit." He gave the teen the blond's shoe size and where to go. "That's impossible." The raven only laughed. "Then make it possible and don't think of running away."

After the teen had turned around running to get what he had asked, Izaya slipped into the nearest convenient store, finding the medical supplies. After picking up the bandages and antiseptic wipes, he made his way to the till. Hopefully his lover hadn't moved yet.

As he skipped from the store, he saw the teen running towards him. Not bad. It had saved him time. "H-here." The bag was dropped at his feet, the teen backing away slowly. "You can go now." Picking up the bag, Izaya made his way back to the alley where his lover had been. Please still be there.

Luckily he was. His lover was slumped against the wall, as he got closer he could see blood running down his bare feet. The white bandage that the blond refused to remove was red, where blood had seeped through, by the looks of it, he had punched something, his gaze fell to the dent in the wall, but he said nothing. "Shizu-chan!"

Stopping in front of the protozoan, he could see the man had no intention of looking at him. Crouching down, he met him at eye level. "What?" That one word told him his lover's mood. Letting out a sigh, he dropped the bag. "You know you wouldn't have left. You're not a monster." The blond wasn't looking at him. Even when he was sulking he looked adorable.

But right now he knew it wasn't the time to tease him, the thread between them had just become delicately fragile. Shizu-chan was better now and outside the apartment. Things had changed, he was no longer the only person his lover could lean on. The protozoan could walk away and leave him as if nothing had ever happened. Really, he should've thought it through more.

Before he would have been ecstatic seeing blood flow, now it was just disturbing. Reaching forward, he pulled the blond's foot up, watching as he slipped further down the wall. "Oi!" Ripping open the packet of antiseptic wipes, he forced his lover to meet his gaze. "Why did you leave the apartment without shoes?"

He knew that it was his fault, then there was the fact if he hadn't then he would either be dead or in hospital, something he didn't want to think about. Shizu-chan hissed when he wiped his foot, his face scrunched up. "I didn't have any. You messed up there." Yes he had, in a lot of ways. Today had shown him just how mortal he really was.

The silence stretched between them as he wrapped the bandage around the blond's foot making sure it wasn't too loose or too tight, making sure it was secure he moved onto the next one. "...I prefer it when you held back. You left me behind protozoan." It was best to honest right now, even if he did sound pitiful. Handing his lover his new shoes, he stood up waiting for him. The silence was becoming deafening.

"Shizu-chan. Do you hate me now?" At first he didn't get an answer, then he heard the low bitter laughter from his lover. Shizu-chan? "No. I've never hated you. You just-" For some reason their first meeting came into his head. What was it that the blond had said to him? "Piss you off?"

"Yeah." There was a sinking feeling in his chest, that his lover was going to walk away. Reaching out he quickly took his hand, refusing to let him go. "I won't change." He should've lied, but he knew it would only turn the blond against him. "You have a little." Izaya carried on walking leading Shizu-chan from the alley. In a way he had changed. He had come down from his pedestal as a god, handed over his way into Valhalla and now he was trying to be honest, keeping his voice even.

Yet even then he had a lot to make up, so maybe... "Is it enough?" For you not to walk away from me? His fingers gripped tighter, unsure of what he would do if the blond tried to leave him. "Yeah. I didn't expect much from you." Ah, how cruel Shizu-chan, but it wasn't a rejection "That's mean. I'll... try. For you." He could feel his cheeks heat up, hating himself for saying such embarrassing things. Now he was the one not looking into those soft coffee eyes. "...I'll apologize to Celty and Shinra. So don't give up on me."

It was a good thing no one was around, or he would have to make them suffer for eavesdropping. "I haven't. I need to apologize to Kasuka and see Shinra." The last part caught his attention, replaying in his head. A sinking suspicion was creeping up on him, making him feel that once again he had forgotten something important. "Why? Is something wrong with your strength?"

He could read the guilt all over his lover's face, his gaze dropping to the bandaged hand, even before it was raised. "It hasn't healed." That little confession floored him, making his heart stop dead in his chest. If it hadn't healed yet, then that meant the ones on his feet wouldn't either. Something was wrong. "You protozoan!"

Just the thought of the blond standing next to him outside made him feel sick. What if the gangs had gone after him? or if... Damn it. Clutching his hand tighter, he turned on his heel walking towards Shinra's apartment. "What if you got into trouble or if you got hit by a car? You should've told me. I never wo- protozoan."

Now they were getting weird looks, maybe because no one else had seen him so emotional. Panic ran through him, glancing around seeing everything as a harmful threat to the still not fully recovered man beside him. "Where are we going?" Maybe he should stop and call a cab, but then what if they got into an accident? "To see Shinra."

His steps quickened, his lover keeping up with ease. No doubt the blond knew his life was fragile at the moment. So why was he smiling? "Stop smiling. I'll have to punish you." But even so, he was glad that the blond was smiling again. "What about that group that was chasing you?" Ah! Forcing a smile he tried to reassure his lover. "They fulfilled their usefulness."

In truth he didn't know when they would try and strike next. This time he had been the one to orchestrate it and now it occurred to him that if someone else could manage to do the same he would be in a bit of trouble. His foot froze in mid air as the blond spoke. "Oi flea. I love you." Now where did that come from?

Glancing up he could see how red his lover's cheeks were. So cute. Feeling his lips twitch into a familiar smirk, he reached up. "Oh? I didn't know you were into public displays of affection." What a perfect chance to show everyone just who the blond belonged to. Pulling him down, he brushed his lips against his shocked lover, licking the bottom. "When we get back, I'll show you how I feel. You have to take responsibility for corrupting a god."

Although he had lost the right to be called one. And now he was getting impatient, his lips tingling, wanting to continue. "Hm, firstly I need you to do something for me." If they were going to see Shinra, then there was no doubt the Dullahan would be there. "Try and stop Celty from separating my head from my body."

Izaya was deadly serious, he had been threatened before, if it wasn't for his quick thinking and even quicker mouth, he may have lost his head. "I'm surprised you didn't throw any vending machines at me. Not that I wanted you to." In response the blond squeezed his hand, but not enough to actually hurt. "I wouldn't hurt you." Letting out a sigh, he squeezed back. "I know. Lets get you sorted."

He had dodged vending machines, his enemies with grudges and the yakuza. Now he was standing in front of the door to the final boss, there were only four players left on the board. Him, Shizu-chan , Celty and Shinra. Raising his fist he knocked loudly. This was for Shizu-chan.

The door swung open, Shinra standing in the doorway. "Shizuo! Where did you run off to?" Then the illegal doctor turned to him. "Izaya." His hands balled into fists in his pockets clutching his knife. His eyes widened as the blond stepped between them. "Sorry Shinra, I needed to recover on my own."

Izaya blinked, quickly getting back in control. "I brought him here. His hand hasn't healed." Shinra shook his head, moving back from the door. "I know what's wrong. Come in." Narrowing his eyes, he kept hold of the blond's hand, looking out for anything that might come for him. The raven knew with one hundred percent certainty, that if anything did happen, his lover would get in the way.

This time it wouldn't come to that, he would make sure of it. "Now now my beloved, calm down." Just his luck. Celty stood up from where she had been sitting by the computer, shadows swirling around her. They headed straight for him, curling round his neck, the sharp point barely touching his skin, for the moment. "Ce-"

Covering the blond's mouth he found himself staring at the face that used to be in the glass container. "Celty. I'm sorry." Three sets of eyes blinked in disbelief. How rude. "Izaya." Smiling at the shocked blond, he gripped his uninjured hand. "There are some who believe you are a fallen Valkyrie. You should really look into your origins. There will still be people after you."

He didn't move as the Dullahan stalked forward, looking pissed. I can forgive you for my head. Without it, I got closer to Shinra and realised my feelings for him. What did you do to Shizuo? Izaya smiled, in spite of the danger he was in. "I returned his feelings. I love Shizu-chan. No matter what you do or say, I'll stay by his side." Next to him his lover blushed.

...Really? Reading the screen once again he nodded his head, glad to see the shadows were leaving him. Since she had her head back, she should be talking. But maybe it was for Shinra's sake that she was being normal. "Celty its true. He's only been protecting me. Please forgive him. I don't want you two to fight."

The shadows vanished completely, Celty's shoulders slumping. If you hurt him... Izaya narrowed his eyes, meeting her gaze. "I won't but if that happens, you can do as you like." He felt slightly jealous when the two hugged. Still at least it hadn't ended in violence. "If that's over and done with, can you look at Shizu-chan?"

The pair were broken apart by Shinra. "Its simple really. Show me your hand." Izaya watched as the blond unwrapped his bandages. Right across his palm was the same gash he had received ages ago. "I hadn't finished your treatment." Damn. He should've checked. "The surgery fixed nearly everything, however you still need to take medication to build yourself back up again."

"He's supposed to be like this?" Shinra nodded. "Yeah, he's recovered as I expected." Izaya took the small bag he was handed full of different coloured pills. "These are what you would've started taking if you hadn't left Shizuo." He smiled as his lover sighed. So, there wasn't anything wrong. "That's great. See you'll be back to normal soon, Shizu-chan."

"Yeah. Can we go home?" Looking through the bag of pills, he sighed. "Shizu-chan." The blond shook his head. "Not the apartment. I mean back to yours." He could see that both Shinra and Celty were smiling, although they were trying to hide it. "Yeah. Lets go home. That's okay isn't it Shinra?" The doctor waved his hand. "Yes, Shizuo you'll be fine as long as you take your medicine. Take them for a month. If nothing changes come back and see me. Now go, your lovey dovey act is making me sick." Izaya blinked. As if he was one to talk about that. "And I want to be alone with my beloved Celty."

Shaking his head, he led his lover from the apartment. This time he called a cab back to his apartment. "That went well. It looks like they've forgiven you." Shizu-chan was smiling. Unlocking the door, he let them both in. The apartment was spotless. It looked like Namie had actually done her work. Closing the door, Izaya sighed in relief. It was over, finally they could continue.

His lover was sitting on the sofa, like he belonged there. Which he did, it was his home as well. But the blond looked nothing like a monster, he was calmed and relaxed. Leaning against the door, he looked at his own hand. They were the same. Both him and Shizu-chan. The blond wasn't a monster, just as he wasn't a god. "Izaya?"

Making his way over to the sofa, he sat down next to his lover, clasping their hands together, feeling the blond's warmth. "Izaya, can we go to the bedroom?" Grinning widely, he led his lover into the bedroom. Neither one of them had been any different to begin with. Whether they liked it or not, Izaya knew they were both already human, it didn't matter how hard they tried to fight or accept it. They both bled crimson and they would both age. Before hand it would've terrified him. But now that he had Shizu-chan, it didn't matter a tiny bit.

End

A/N:- So that's the end of that one. I hope you enjoyed it and as usual let me know what you thought.
