…
The sword in the executioner's hands dropped to the ground as his heart was stabbed by a sword. Len's sword. He wasn't waiting for people who weren't showing up. Ignoring the gasps in the crowd, and the body guards desperately attempting to restrain him, Len made his way toward the king. The king though, had a sword of his own. Almost all of Len's swings were countered except for the last. With one quick swing, Len managed to cut off the left arm off the man before he was grabbed and forced to drop his weapon.
Akaito gripped what was left of his arm, his teeth bared as he resisted screaming in pain.
"THROW THEM IN THE DUNGEON, I NEVER WANT TO SEE THEIR UGLY FACES AGAIN! THEY WILL STARVE FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE!" Akaito yelled.
Body guards started dragging away a struggling Len, and it took one to drag Rin by the hair into the castle and down to dungeon where they were thrown into a cell, and locked in.
Len cursed, kicking the bars of the cell as the guards walked off. Rin was limp on the ground, breathing heavily. A quiet whistle slowly sang a tune from one of the other many cells.
Len was mad. Not at his friends, not at the guards, not at the king. He was just mad at himself for being so reckless. Rin wasn't a baby, and she would have been knocked unconscious from pain anyway. They would have enough time to bring her back, have Gumo give her some magical healing stuff and they could act like barely anything even happened.
The soft tune only made everything worse, it made Len want to ring the neck of whoever emitted the damn noise.
"Hey!" Len shouted, shaking the bars to make a clinking noise "shut up!"
"Oh my apologies," A polite, soft voice said from what must have been the next cell over "It's just that if I didn't occupy myself with something, I would surly die of boredom"
"That's impossible…" Len sighed before adding a quick "idiot" under his breath.
"Oh of course it's not. The man who originally had that cell you're in now went insane," the voice chuckled slightly "banged his head against the wall until it busted, how gruesome"
"…I did not need that image in my mind," Len sighed "so, who are you exactly?"
"Me?" she sighed "I'm afraid I go by the name of Kaiko"
"Kaiko…wait! Akaito's younger sister!? You're the one that told Akaito to execute Rin!?" Len questioned.
"Oh, do not take it so personally!" Kaiko gasped "I assure you she was just the next on the list"
"So? She was just another angel on some stupid list!?" Len growled "I thought you were supposed to predict the future or something! Just put the right one on the list and get it over with!"
"Oh but they were the right ones. They all simply failed the test," Kaiko giggled.
"Test!?" Len shouted "What test!? Did Rin pass!?"
"They all possessed a power rendering some useless in her presence the mere thought of harming the person with said power is enough to spit a skull in half," Kaiko explained "I'm sure you have experienced something similar?"
"…yeah quite a few times actually," Len sighed.
"See? Seeing as you are still alive it was probably not as powerful as the others,"
"Then why are they dead?"
"They lost hope, I'm afraid," Len could hear chains scrape across the floor as Kaiko walked towards the bars of her cell "here, take it quickly"
Through the bars of Kaiko's cell an arm held out a ring of keys. Len quickly reached out of his cell and grabbed it.
"Though I cannot escape as it would grab too much attention, I wish that she does with you. Make her a great warrior and take down my brother so as to make the world like it was all them years ago," Kaiko begged.
"I can't just walk out of here. I think a guy carrying a girl out of a castle would be noticed," Len sighed "there's a bunch of guards outside"
"My room!" Kaiko said quickly.
"What?" Len asked, confused.
"My room, stick to the shadows and escape to my room! You'll know what to do once you get there!" Kaiko said "it's upstairs, second to last room in the third corridor"
"Alright… I'll do it then," Len used the key to unlock his cell before tossing it back into kaiko's.
Len looked down at Rin as she seemed to be going in and out of consciousness. He crouched, doing his best to quickly get her onto his back. Once he succeeded he quickly headed upstairs, only to be greet with a wide, brightly lit main room. The stairs to the second floor were to the mid-back of the room, and Len had to get their without being noticed by the guards on either side. Len stayed to the side of the door, peeking out just to get a good look at the surroundings. No curtains to climb. No way to make a distraction. This was going to be impossible…
"Stop!" Len flinched at the sudden scream of a woman as the front doors quickly opened "No!"
"Mam, please calm down!" someone shouted.
"No! How dare you!? How dare you lock Rin up!? How dare you do that to such a sweet girl!" It was Luka, trying to get into the castle in a fit of rage. The guards by the stairs rushed to help remove her from the castle. This was lucky for Len, he rushed to get up the stairs and into the third corridor as quietly as possible. He walked down it, looking back every few seconds he reached the second to last door with a sigh of relief as he opened it. He was, surprisingly, introduced to just a closet.
"Yes, I was surprised too,"
"he seemed very anxious in the crowd. I'm surprised we didn't notice,"
Len cursed as the voices and footsteps came closer, forcing him and Rin to hide in the cramped closet. Len set Rin on the floor, only for a moment so he wouldn't be knocking things over. The voices and footsteps were right outside the door now, and didn't seem to be moving anytime soon. He sighed, leaning against one side of the wall only to hear a tear and fall right through it. He froze, listening for the two outside the door. They didn't seemed to notice and he stood, looking around. It was a pitch black room, Len felt the walls for a light switch, and his hands were greeted by sticky cobwebs. Once he found a light switch and turned the lights on, he realized he was in a bedroom. It was full of dust, and cobwebs. The floor creaked as he took a look around. What was he supposed to find?
Remembering Rin was with him, he quickly put her on his back again and looked around. Nothing in the drawers, nothing on or under the bed. Nothing behind any of the furniture. The only thing left was the one thing he didn't want to be what he was supposed to be looking for. There was a closet with a lock. There was no sight of a key, and that meant he'd have to break it. Len reluctantly sat Rin on the floor, and examined the lock. Len looked around a bit before grabbing a chair. He used the leg of the chair, and tried to bust the lock with it. Surprisingly, the entire closet door just fell forward. Inside, Len saw a portal. He sighed in relief, his mind made him think getting out would be very complicated. Len picked Rin up once more and walked through.
He was home.
Len walked towards the living room, Rin still unconscious on his back. He gently laid her on the couch. Bruises, and cuts plagued her body. Len left for a moment, grabbing bandages from the bathroom to patch her up. Sadly, they couldn't stay here long. They'd realize Len and her were missing, and just come here. They had to hide somewhere. Somewhere they can't get to… but where?
