A/N: Hey guys… So I know it's literally been four years since I've updated this story but recently I've really been wanting to write and to finish this story so I'm back! To those of you who read this story when it first came out and have been waiting years for an update, thank you so much for your patience and you won't be disappointed I promise. And to those of you who just found this story (which is probably most of you) thank you for reading this far and welcome to the party.

So full disclosure before I begin…I didn't actually watch the 5th or 6th seasons of glee so I'm not really sure if this story will go beyond the 4th season or if I'll just make something up or if I'll just make a sequel! Anyway without further adieu (four years later) let's get started! Please enjoy and as always review.

"Oh my god! Rachel have you seen these dorms?" Kurt squealed as he leaned over across Sebastian to show Rachel a photo of a very small, perhaps dingy looking dorm.

Sebastian practically shoved him off of him, as Kurt had basically been on his lap. "Hummel I'm not sure if you realize this but if you wanna touch, it's not free, and in your case I wouldn't even give it up to you if you paid me ten million dollars."

Kurt rolled his eyes as he smoothed out his now wrinkled blazer. "Oh please. I don't go for meerkats that look like they sold for about five dollars on craigslist. It's a miracle that you ever got Rachel to go out with you."

Rachel shared an amused chuckle with Sebastian, yeah he would be getting lady Hummel back for that one later. She grabbed his hand consolingly and leaned in, "For the record, I happen to be quite fond of meerkats. My favorite animal by far." She said with a quick peck on the lips, causing Sebastian to forget all about his annoyance for Kurt. That is until he opened his mouth again.

"Um Rachel, can you stop sucking face with the devil for a second and look at where you'll be living next year? This seems much more important." Kurt said with exasperation.

She very amusedly took the photo out of Kurt's hand once more, her face furrowing in confusion once she did so. "Kurt I don't understand why you're so excited about these dorms. They look small and kind of disgusting."

Her very fashionably dressed best friend looked at her as though she had lost her mind. "That's the point! Rachel, that's the New York City dream, living in a shoebox apartment with your best friend in the heart of the city so that years down the road when we're successful we can look back on it."

She smiled wistfully at her friend. "I guess you're right, it's sort of part of the whole New York City experience."

"Exactly! Just like rooftop parties, staying out till 3 am, a new guy every night." Kurt said with a little dance.

Sebastian cocked his at Kurt, eyebrow raised. "A new guy every night? Maybe for you if you wanna catch 20 different STDs, but I think Rachel is a little bit more classy and faithful than that."

Rachel looked at Kurt with a slight expression of panic. "Kurt, that last part actually will not apply to me as Sebastian and I will be pursuing a long distance romance."

Kurt's eyes widened as large as saucers. "From New York to Paris?" He exclaimed in bewilderment.

Rachel forced a smile. "Yes Kurt." She said through gritted teeth and grasped Sebastian's hand even tighter, as if already feeling their impending separation that would be here come August.

Sebastian seemed to be feeling the same anxiety as he pulled her just a little bit closer to him.

The tension was palpable, as they sat there in utter silence for a good ten minutes before more company joined them. "So what are we talking about?" Blaine asked cheerfully as he and Santana sat down.

Sebastian took a sip of his coffee before leaning back leisurely. "Oh Kurt was just talking about all of the guys he's gonna hook up with next year. Right Kurt?" Sebastian replied with a shit eating grin.

"Wanky." Santana chimed in with a smirk on her face.

If looks could kill, Sebastian would certainly be dead right now, and possibly Kurt too from mortification. The topic of the upcoming year was clearly a sore subject for Kurt and Blaine, the same could be said for Sebastian and Rachel too though to be fair.

"What?" Blaine questioned in utter confusion and partial panic.

Kurt waved his hand dismissively with nervous laughter. "Oh the Meerkat just needs a nap, he's a little grumpy today."

Blaine seemed to brush it off for the moment as a smile came to his face. "Anyway are you guys excited for Whitney week in glee club? I don't even know what song to sing."

"Well Rachel and I are gonna do a super hot duet." Santana added.

Rachel arched an eyebrow. "We are?"

The latina smirked wickedly. "Hell yeah, wonder boy you should come." She said directing her attention towards Sebastian.

He smirked at his now blushing girlfriend. Of course he would be there, and not just to make sure that the guys in the New Directions stayed in line. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."

Rachel beamed at him and curled into his side. She and Sebastian may not be the most conventional couple, and he may be one of the biggest assholes she knows, but damn she loves him. He's always been very supportive of her and has never questioned her dreams.

Kurt looked at his watch and began gathering his things very eagerly. "Ooh I have to go."

Blaine looked at him confusedly. "Go? Go where? I just got here."

"I have to go pick out my audition song." Seeing Blaine's less than enthusiastic look, he waved his hand dismissively. "Oh don't worry you don't have to come, I know you've had a long day. Rachel, you wanna come?"

She began gathering her things up as well. "Of course, not that I need to find a song since I've had mine picked out since birth, but I'd love to aid you in your search." She leaned over and gave Sebastian a quick peck on the lips. "I'll call you later, love you."

He smiled at her and pulled her back for one more, slightly longer, kiss. "Love you too."

Santana also began following the pair out, Blaine eyed her in confusion. "Santana do you need a song for something?"

She simply shook her head. "No, I just don't feel like being part of the hair gel sausage party. Besides, this way I can start planning my duet with Rachel."

Once the trio was out of sight Blaine's head fell to his hands, Sebastian eyed him with worry. "I know that dating lady Hummel is difficult but I kind of figured you were into his quirks or whatever."

Ignoring the jab at his boyfriend he looked at Sebastian with desperation. "They're leaving Sebastian."

"They just went to get sheet music."

Blaine looked at him with one of his (very rare) sneers. "To NYADA, it's like they just can't wait to go to New York and leave us behind."

He sighed in understanding, him and Rachel had fought enough about this long distance thing and were finally at the point where they were (sort of?) at peace with it. Clearly Kurt and Blaine haven't had this talk. "I think they're just excited about the prospect of going to New York. I mean c'mon, next year when you get to get the hell out of here won't you be ecstatic?" Sebastian reasoned, ever so sympathetic to the other man's worry.

Blaine shook his head. "Yeah of course I understand being excited but it's more than that, this is them leaving us far behind." Sebastian looked as though he were about to contradict so Blaine put his hand up to stop it. "I know they have no intention of it, but you're honestly telling me that the two of them in New York City, the polar opposite of Lima, that they won't slowly forget about us?"

Sebastian hadn't actually considered this frightening aspect. Sure he and Rachel had discussed that long distance would be difficult, but he had never considered that she would forget about him altogether. Out of sight, out of mind.

The bronze hair warbler shook himself out of his harrowing thoughts and plastered on a reassuring smile for the benefit of Blaine. "I think you're worried for nothing, they love us and a new city won't change that."

Blaine took a long swig of his drink. "I suppose if you of all people can say that, then perhaps I am worried for nothing."

Sebastian quirked a questioning eyebrow. "Me of all people?"

"Well just that you're moving to a completely different continent, and from what I know have no intention of moving to New York anytime soon. I'm at least planning on joining them once I graduate."

Sebastian kept his false smile plastered on his face. He hadn't actually considered all of the logistics of the arrangement. This may complicate things.

He chose not to share his fears with Rachel though, as for the first time in a very long time they were just a happy couple. Not fighting, not competitors, not "just friends", but just happy. If it were all to end soon, he wanted to at least enjoy what was left.

"Sebastian I think you're really going to enjoy my duet with Santana." Rachel beamed clinging onto his arm as they walked down an empty street of Lima.

Sebastian smiled down at her. "Of course I will, I mean if you're singing how can I not enjoy it?"

Rachel rolled her eyes. "You know, for someone who prides themselves on being really snarky and kind of an asshole, you sure are a giant sap."

He returned her eye roll with a slight smirk. "What? I am not a 'sap', I just happen to appreciate my girlfriend's breathtaking singing voice and killer body." He said with a wink. "Besides isn't that my job as your boyfriend? To be supportive? I do my job right and I still get mocked."

Rachel chuckled to herself, just loud enough for Sebastian to hear. "What exactly is so funny?"

She gave a slight shrug. "Nothing, I was just remembering the Sebastian that I met a little over a year ago. Mr. "I have no emotions, and don't do relationships". I just think it's funny how much you've changed."

Sebastian smiled a slight very genuine smile at her words. She had definitely changed him for the better, and God help him if he ever lost her for good.

He always got a slight chill when he walked into McKinley, like it was some unholy, haunted ground. Alas he had promised Rachel he would be there to see her, apparently very sexy, duet.

Some of the New Directions still gave him a dirty look as he entered the choir room, despite them no longer being competitors. He didn't particularly care though as he took their displeasure with a great grin. Surprisingly enough Finn wasn't one of the members glaring at him, he gave him a slight acknowledgement as he entered, and (maybe) a slight smile.

Huh, strange turn of events he thought to himself.

Rachel and Santana came strutting in moments later, Rachel's dress slightly shorter than usual he mentally noted. Not that he was complaining.

She gave him a seductive wink before the music started, and damn Santana was right. It was hot. Not only that though, it always amazed him just how talented his girlfriend was, it would be a damn shame if something held her back from broadway. A strange voice in the back of his mind kept saying that he might be that thing that held her back, but he very gladly chose to ignore the voice. For now.

One thing that didn't escape his notice was an argument spurring between Kurt and Blaine. He had noticed Kurt checking his phone and giggling throughout the performance, but he just wrote it off as Kurt reading some article. Clearly it was something more.

"Hey." Rachel greeted as she came strutting over, still slightly out of breath from her performance.

"Hey babe." He greeted with a peck on the lips. "You were amazing by the way. That was all kinds of hot."

Rachel blushed and took a seat on his lap. "Thank you."

"Looks like there's trouble in paradise over there." He said, gesturing his head toward Kurt and Blaine.

She sighed regretfully. "Yeah, these two guys at Between the Sheets came up to us yesterday and started flirting. Looks like Kurt was still flirting, and Blaine found out."

Sebastian smirked. "Wow lady Hummel got two guys to flirt with him? I'm in shock."

Rachel giggled, patting his chest. "No, one of them was flirting with me."

"Wait, what?" He asked, a little more alarmed. He would've much preferred it if Kurt was just getting extra action.

"Yeah, I mean he was super lame, like even worse at flirting than Finn."

"So how'd you get him to back off? Tell him that you had a boyfriend who would beat him up?" Sebastian questioned, only half jokingly.

Rachel waved her hand dismissively. "No he was harmless, I just gave him my number and that made him of away."

His eyes widened in shock. "You gave the guy you're number?"

Her eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. "What's the big deal, it's not like I've been texting him like Kurt."

He sighed in distress. "That's not the point Rachel."

She stood up from the spot on his lap abruptly, slightly offended. "Well then please explain it to me, cause I'm having a hard time understanding seeing as I thought I had a boyfriend who trusted me."

He stood up as well, brushing her question aside. "You know what? You're right, it's not a big deal forget I said anything." He said as he began walking towards the door.

She planted her hands on her hips and looked at him in annoyance. "And where exactly are you going?"

"I'm just going back to Dalton, I have some stuff I have to do." He replied vaguely.

She continued looking at the door in annoyance after he left, still in slight shock from the sudden exchange. Santana came over, wearing the same confusion. "Hey, where did tall dark and wanky go?"

"Back to Dalton I guess." She replied bitterly, letting out a sigh when her friend looked at her for further explanation. "We got into a fight, it was stupid."

Sensing her friend's sadness she slung her arm across her shoulder. "Well then let's go talk about how dumb it was and maybe talk some shit in the process."

She chuckled at her friend's form of comforting. "I don't want to talk shit about him."

Santana shrugged. "Fine, you don't have to I will."

True to her word, the two ladies sat in Rachel's room, as being at the Lima Bean runs the risk of a certain Warbler being there. "Santana, it's not like I'm mad at Sebastian, I just don't get it."

"Well you said he got super pissed cause you gave a pity number to that guy at the music store, right?" Rachel gave a small nod. "Well maybe you guys still have some issues that need resolved."

Rachel groaned. "But everything has been so good lately."

"True, but all couples have past demons that like to rear their ugly heads." She pointed out.

"Why does this have to be so complicated? I mean, Sebastian and I love each other, isn't that enough?"

Santana smiled sadly. "That's just how relationships are, I might be dealing with something similar this upcoming year."

Rachel snorted. "Why? Is Brittany leaving for Paris too?"

Santana shook her head. "No but considering that she has a GPA of about 0, it's not looking likely that she'll graduate."

Rachel nearly spit her coffee out. "Santana, I'm so sorry that's awful."

"What are you gonna do ya know? She could have tried to bring her grades up so we could be together but she didn't care enough to. This whole future thing is really testing everyone's priorities I guess."

Rachel nodded in sympathy. "I guess we just have to sit back and see what happens."

Santana arched an eyebrow. "Um no that's what I have to do. You have to try to reason with your Warbler, any relationship that can be saved, should be."

She looked down at her hands, nervously wringing them out. "I think I'm just gonna stay here for a bit, let things run their natural course."

Santana nodded in understanding. "Okay, well if you need me I'll be working with Brittany to try and convince her teachers to let her make some stuff up."

"Good luck!" Rachel called from her cocoon of blankets on her bed.

Just moments later, she heard her bedroom door opening again. "Santana? You're back already? How'd things go?" She asked, not even opening her eyes.

"I don't if I should be offended that you think I'm Satan, or be in awe about how cute you look right now." Sebastian responded, leaning casually against her doorframe with his every present smirk.

"Sebastian!" She said in shock, shooting up in bed. He looked at current state in amusement, with an arched eyebrow and she began fixing her appearance. "What are you doing here?" She asked in a shy tone.

He stepped further into the room. "Well you see, I really hate it when we fight and so naturally I've been trying to find a way to fix this."

"And?" She asked in her same quiet tone, somewhat more hopeful.

He sat down on thee edge of her bed and threw his hand up. "I've got nothing."

Her eyebrows scrunched together. "I don't understand, Sebastian are you really this upset about me giving some pimply sixteen-year-old my phone number?"

He shook his head. "Not specifically, it's just next year when I'm not there it might not be just a pity phone number. It might be some dude with a chiseled jaw and a charmingly sarcastic attitude."

She looked at him sympathetically. "No one has a more charmingly sarcastic attitude than you, I promise. Besides don't you trust me?"

He kept his gaze downwards. "I mean of course I do, but New York is a whole different ball game."

"If I'm nothing but loyal here, why would it be any different in New York?" She asked, slightly offended now.

He didn't respond, as a tight lipped smile formed on his face.

"Sebastian?"

"What about Finn."

Her scrunched up in utter confusion. "What the hell does Finn have to do with anything? He's definitely not coming to New York, and besides him and I have barely spoken in the last two months."

"Not Finn himself, but the proverbial Finn. The guy you kiss on impulse because he's just there, and you get caught up in the moment or in the song." He responded frustratedly.

Her eyes widened in shock and anger. "Are you seriously bringing that up? That was a mistake I made almost a year ago and paid for greatly. Where is all of this coming from anyway, aren't you the one who said we'd make long distance work, and that we'd be fine as long as we were in each other's lives?" She said, near tears but more mad than anything.

He shrugged sadly. "I guess I was wrong."

She stood up, tears falling freely. "I can't believe you are seriously doing this to me the week before my NYADA audition."

Crap, he hadn't thought about that. He ran hand through his hair, and sighed. "Rach, I'm sorry I didn't try to time it this way."

She laughed bitterly, still crying and held the door open. You know what? I can't do this right now, I'm going to NYADA next year, especially since you're running off to Paris next year. I have to be perfect, and so I'm not going to do this right now, I won't." She said as he began walking to the door. "Now please leave." She asked, more calmly now, seeing the dejected look on his face.

"I understand." He said, walking out the door. Once he was a few feet out, he turned and looked at her. "Rach?"

"What?" She asked tiredly.

"I love you."

She took a few moments to respond, which considering she usually reciprocated in .2 seconds, felt like a lifetime.

"Rach?" He asked again, slightly more desperate.

"I love you too." She responded not meeting his gaze.

That was the worst part, this had nothing to do with a lack of love or desire to be together, just the frightening prospect of the future.

A/N: Alright how was it? Good? Horrible? Do I still have it or did I lose it completely? Also, as I fully intend on finishing this story, what would you like to see occur following the conclusion of this season. As usual, please review and I will definitely be posting again in the next couple days.
