I've been wanting to do a Farscape fic for a while now but I've been afraid to pit any of my ideas down on paper. This is my favourite show and I don't like messing with perfection. I felt like the show was so well written that I had nothing to add to it But I was urged to just go for it and, I must say, I really enjoyed it. Now that I've got my feet wet (so to speak) in this particular fandom, I may write some more. I hope you like this one. And thanks to domina tempore for the nudge.
A/N: I'm not a full-on Crais/Aeryn shipper but this one was just begging me to write it down.
Disclaimer: I don't own Farscape. :(
Spoiler Warning: Major one for S3 E21 Into the Lion's Den Part II - Wolf in Sheep's Clothing.
Final Moments
Bialar Crais stood on Talyn's bridge, waiting for the ship to fully charge to starburst. He'd just delivered his final speech. All that was left to do was wait. And think. He'd done a lot of things since being conscripted by the Peacekeepers; some good, many bad. He'd risen through the ranks, had his own command, the respect of both his superiors and subordinates. Then he'd lost his brother and, in his grief, he'd lashed out at the one person he'd held responsible. He no longer blamed Crichton for Tauvo's death, knowing it was nothing more than a horrible accident. But that accident had changed the course of his life. He'd hunted Crichton down, tried to make him pay. He'd wanted revenge but in the end he'd realised there were some pains that could never be relieved. You simply had to learn to live with them. And he had, after much time. It had been a difficult journey but he was finally at peace. He also knew that peace had come to him through one person. No matter what he'd done in his life, everything paled in comparison when he thought of the discovery he'd made after leaving the Peacekeepers, something that was denied them. But he'd seen it as a child and remembered. He'd discovered what it was to love beyond hope. This final act, his final act, was all for her.
"Talyn," he called out and bowed his head for a moment. "Starburst."
This is for you, Aeryn Sun.
