Hey, guys! I'm back! I haven't made a chapter for this in a VERY long time. So, enjoy! FYI: This is probably the most sappy fluffy thing I've ever made and... I feel like I'm gonna barf at how soft and caring I made Pein.
Another thunderstorm in Amegakure. Wasn't a huge shocker. The residents of this depressed village were used to it by now. Flooded streets and shaking buildings because of the thunder was a norm for everyone living here.
In the statuesque building that seemed to pierce the sky he looked out of the window, past the rain trying to break it's way in by attacking the glass. He was worried about her; again. He knows that she's strong and that she can handle anything being in the most murderous organization out of the entire nations, but when it came to severe weather like this, he worried, and he couldn't help that. Especially when there was a child that still needed her mother...
Pein loved Konan more than the world itself. He didn't think he would be able to function properly without her. She was strong and brave, never afraid to kill an enemy. Her violent, yet silent disposition made her the perfect opponent. However... her paper angel technique... it was still weak against the rain. She could still plummet to the ground if she was flying, and her attack may be a heavy disadvantage when soaked. She could be in real danger.
But she'll be fine... he told himself that. She'll be okay and fight and win.
She never loses a fight.
He sighed and pressed his forehead against the window, feeling just how hard the rain was hitting the window. He missed her... it's been two days since he deployed her on this seemingly minor mission. But seemingly minor assignments could turn deadly at any point. He's had near-death experiences. Looks can really be deceiving. He hoped she'll be okay and return within the next couple of days.
A blast of thunder caught him off guard and he stumbled backwards. He sighed again and closed his eyes. How weak of him... letting mother nature scare him. He was a God of this land. If anything he was to strike fear into the hearts of everyone, including nature. Not the other way around.
As Pein turned his attention back to the city below, he heard a wail. A pitiful, frightened wail coming from down the hall, and he instantly hurried to the source of the noise.
He reached the door and opened it, walking over to the wooden crib near the window. The little baby with blue locks and teary eyes cried with her fists clenched and tiny feet kicking outward. He frowned at the sight of her. His little Anzu. His little Angel.
"Don't cry, my sweet." he whispered softly as he lifted her out of the crib with her blanket around her. He put her against his shoulder and patted her back gently. He noticed the window near the crib was being battered by rain. The thunder and lightning must've scared her. "Everything's all right, Anzu." he whispered sweetly to her. The baby still cried against her father, scrunching his cloak with her small hands and soiling it with her tears and snot. He began to bounce her and shush her quietly, walking around the room. When thunder roared again and made it worse, he decided taking her elsewhere would be a better idea.
He exited the room, crying baby still in his arms and walked down the corridors. His room had no windows, and it drowned out more noise than the others, making the thunder seem like a simple bang on the wall. "Daddy's here, Anzu. Nothing will hurt you while I'm around." he kept whispering soothing words to her. She still cried, frightened out of her immature mind. It wasn't her fault. She was just a baby. What more did she know besides there was a loud noise scaring her and the only thing she could do was cry? It was a sad thought indeed to Pein. One he couldn't bear.
He got to his room and opened the door, closing it silently. He turned on a soft light and took a seat on the bed. It was like it wasn't even storming outside anymore. Everything was quite besides Anzu crying.
"Anzu... don't cry. We're safe from the rain." Pein said as he cradled her close to him. She hiccoughed in between her sobs, pressing her face against his chest. "The rain is your friend here." he spoke as he nuzzled her forehead. "This is your home, Anzu. It rains here almost everyday. Thunder is loud, yes, but there is no reason to fear it." his soft tone was calming her down, Anzu only stuttering her sobs. "Do not be afraid, Anzu, because I'll always be here for you. Your mother and I will protect you and make you strong. You'll conquer your enemies with your strength. Including the awful weather." he kissed her forehead. He looked at her with a smile. She had stopped crying. She had a red face with puffy cheeks stained with trails of tears. He wiped away a stray drop from her eyes. "Don't cry, little one." he whispered, pressing her closer to him as another clap of thunder muffled outside. "Here, the rain is your friend. The thunder is your ally, and the lightning is your strength. Take advantage of your homeland, Anzu, and you won't fail. I assure you that." Anzu stared at him with bright blue eyes and he chuckled.
Pein stood up from the bed and walked around the room, rocking Anzu gently, not taking his eyes off of his beautiful daughter. She looked just like her mother... her hair, her beautiful eyes... just like Konan. He chuckled quietly again.
"You're as gorgeous as your mother, you know that?" he whispered to her over the muffled thunder. "And I'm sure you'll have the attitude as well when you get older." he watched her closely as time passed and saw her eyes drooping further and further with every step he took. He decided to leave the comfort of his quiet room and return Anzu to her nursery. Along the way, lightning flashed and thunder cracked, yet she didn't stir in his arms. He smiled at her. She was strong. Just like her mother.
Once he got Anzu back to her room he placed her in her crib and covered her with her blanket. Within minutes, despite the thunder rumbling, Anzu fell into a peaceful sleep. With on last smile, Pein turned and left her room, closing her door silently. He sighed deeply with a frown and turned to go back to his room.
"Pein?"
Pein froze in place, turning around to see her.
"Konan..."
Konan stood, her cloak and hair soaked and sticking to her face and forehead, yet otherwise okay. She looked a bit confused at her husband, tilting her head slightly with a curious look.
"What're you doing, Pein? Is Anzu okay?" she asked, worry in her voice, thinking there was something wrong with her daughter based on Pein's facial expression. Pein walked up to her, then clamped his arms around Konan. Konan was pulled into him and she gasped as she wasn't expecting it. "Pein, what's wrong?" she asked, clearly confused. Pein only held her close to him, not caring that her drenched cloak was causing him to get wet as well.
"I love you, Konan..." he whispered. Konan was silent, not reacting or replying, but she did smiled and curled into him.
"I love you too, Pein."
A little OOC, no? Sorry, didn't mead to make him so, like... squishy, but oh well. Thanks for reading! Review! Also, ideas for another chapter are greatly appreciated!
