The Dragon's Quest

This is my first DBZ/DC fanfic and my first fanfic story ever, so don't judge me if it is not well done. Everybody is welcome to read it but if you don't like it, then just don't read and go do something else. Flame me if you want but no one will really pay you any attention.

DBZ characters don't belong to me. They belong to Akira Toriyama and DC characters and groups like Justice League belong to DC comics.

More characters will appear as the story continues, probably many villains from DC that nobody knows (of course this will depend on how many followers I have from the first chapter on). Due to the release of Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Super in recent years, barely any of the characters introduced in there will be shown. Maybe mentioned but that's as far as it gets.

My English is not exactly the most perfect so any review about my story or my way of writing is totally welcome. Hopefully that will change as the story progresses.

At the end of each chapter there will be some notes to explain some issues about the story or the characters, as 'my' characters or the plot may be different from the official ones.

I think that's all I have to say, let's read! (Original chapter edited on 10/26/17)

Chapter 1: The End of the War

How long has it been? Two, four, or five years? A decade? A century? well, nobody cared about the fact that this "Saiyan" had arrived in the middle of one of the greatest fights Earth have ever fought and with nothing more than a simple move of his hand, he turned upside down the tide of a battle that would have annihilated the entire green-and-blue planet. For the heroes were fighting against one of the most evil beings that had ever existed within our universes, one of the most perverse and foul creatures that wandered the universe. Wherever he went, nothing was left but destruction, rotten and decaying bodies of a thousand men, who had foolishly tried to stop him. Lies and Treachery, that was what he was and nothing more: Darkseid.

The Justice League, Earth's Greatest Heroes, had been completely vulnerable as no one had been expecting some sudden action even from someone as treacherous like him. His army appeared out of nowhere, without warning or threatening. Maybe he came for revenge. After all, the Kryptonian Superman had killed him indirectly during a fight in a planet that was being used by the mechanical Brainiac. The brain Interactive Construct had been absorbing the knowledge of the planet to become more powerful and Darkseid made a truce with him to not absorb his planet Apokolips, and together they had brought the Justice League to the soon-to-die planet. Darkseid was quickly handled by Superman while the rest of the heroes tried to find a way to destroy Brainiac.

The fight went hours long with the strength equal on both sides with the Dark God gaining the upper-hand in the end thanks to his combat and fighting abilities. Even if Superman wouldn't admit it out loud, when Darkseid said that he could destroy anything that would get in his way he really meant it. His blows were strong enough to cause the Man of Steel real pain and before that fight, nothing but a Kryptonite weapon could have made him bleed. Well, that's not entirely true. There had been someone even worse than him. In fact, that creature had 'killed' Superman but somehow the Sun-powered Kryptonian had come back. After that creature, Darkseid was the strongest being Earth had ever had to face against, the attacks being almost nigh-even in raw power. The famous hero of the green planet Superman couldn't go on. He was exhausted but so was Darkseid. It had been then when J'onn had contacted the solar alien telepathically and told him that they had seated a detonator that would blow up the planet, taking Darkseid and Brainiac with it. Destroying him was no longer Superman's work. He simply gave Darkseid a pitiful sight and flew back to the ship. The Justice heroes narrowly escaped in time and saw how the planet exploded, taking their enemies' lives with it.

But that had happened almost a year ago. And suddenly and completely out of the blue, like if nothing had ever happened to him in the first place, Darkseid and his armies were back on the Earth destroying everything and everyone they came in contact with. Earth's armies couldn't resist forever and neither could the Justice League. They had to ask for help and the only ones the League could think about were the New God's eternal enemies and eternal allies to Earth; the planet New Genesis, where lived Darkseid's own stray son, Orion. But problems always come in war. The troops that Orion would bring to Earth weren't fully gathered to come as of yet.

Of course, Darkseid wouldn't await for the arrival of help to attack and that's what he did. He attacked Earth's strongest Heroes, totally relentless and wrathful, his armies hell bent on Earth. But there was something more. Though his armies fought against the human soldiers and the Earth's heroes, Darkseid seemed to be waiting for someone to arrive. And indeed, someone arrived, the only being he would ever snuff the life out with his own bare hands: Superman.

That was the moment when everything was going to end. The Man of Steel wasn't able to stand against the Dark God or to fought back. He was just thrashed aside during most of the fight, even with the assistance of the Godly-empowered Amazonian Diana. The Dark creature looked determine to extinguish his Kryptonian nemesis from existence, like Superman had already done. No hope remained at all. His Omega Beams were something no one could overcome or withstand injury-less. Earth's Greatest heroes just laid there, beaten and broken, the S symbol of hope, torn apart as a proof of the Dark God's unstoppable might. He held the beaten Kryptonian up in the sky to represent how the Earth's best hope would fall. One blow. That was all that he needed to end the remaining hope of the Earth, to end the Earth's rebellion against him and to have the planet groveling at his feet begging for mercy.

In that moment, when everything seemed to be lost, he had appeared. Coming out of nowhere, someone stroke the New God down light the Hammer of Retribution sending his statuesque body careening right into the ground creating a giant crater by the impact. Superman had regained consciousness so now he was able to see this new comer and saviour. A man, or an alien that look like one, was hovering in the sky, looking over the destruction with black eyes that, literally, shone with barely contained anger. He was wearing what seemed to be a dark blue karate Gi with an orange undershirt and white gloves and boots, though the last ones had a yellow color in the fingertips. His hair was the weirdest thing ever: it firmly stood up in a widow peak, totally unaffected by gravity with the exception of two locks that stuck down on his forehead in a "V" shape. He was wearing two yellow earrings that seemed to be made of a shining mineral. By the way his body stood, everybody could see that he was a warrior, trained in the harshest battles that could have ever existed.

Faster than anyone could have seen, this 'savior' appeared in front of the beaten Superman, helping him to land on the ground as the Kryptonian was in a really bad shape. After landing, the new comer looked at the Kryptonian smiling friendly and lent his hand forward. Superman didn't understand if it was just a sign of friendship or anything else so Superman did the only thing the new comer may have wanted him to do: They shook hand. Superman instantly felt stronger, like if this new guy in picture had given him strength to keep fighting onward. As the solar alien look at the new fighter better, He realized he was five feet and eleven inches tall, so he was looking at the Solar alien directly into the eyes. Now that Superman was totally re-energized, he looked back to the gargoyle-like monster, who came to destroy his adopted home.

"Let's finish this!" Superman's yell was heard in every corner of the city like a thunder roaring in the middle of the storm. Every hero left raced alongside the Son of Krypton against Darkseid's armies. The new comer started flying upward, charging yellow energy orbs in both of his hands. He then threw them into the sky, where they divided themselves into hundreds more and they shot right into Darkseid's ships, completely blasting them from existence, no piece of them remaining at all.

Darkseid was stunned beyond belief by this new being. And also infuriated. The Alpha God hated many things and one of those were anomalies, numbers unknown in a perfect equation. And this guy was the worst nuisance he had ever met. While the blue-cladded warrior easily handled his army, Darkseid used the same strategy that he had used against Superman. From his eyes, two red beams emanated, moving between the fighters until reaching the new comer's back. But as if he had been warned beforehand, the guy swiftly disappeared. Darkseid was totally stunned. That man had dodged his attack! Before he could realise, where the stranger was something appeared in front of him materialising like teleporting in microseconds. The new intruder was floating in front of the New God, reaching Darkseid's eyes.

"Are you looking for something or my awesomeness already fried your brain?" The spiky-haired man said with an ironic tone. Darkseid was not going to let this new arriver to interfere in his plans for conquest so he rose up his hand ready to throw a powerful strike. But before he could have ever raised it, the 'savior' had attacked faster, throwing a thunderous left punch, right into Darkseid's chest. As Darkseid bend over totally breathless, the warrior jumped and threw a powerful knee high into the New God's chin. Now the Ruler of Apokolips was angry! No matter if the new comer was friend or foe, The Justice League would be eternally grateful if he could Darkseid.

"You are a real fool, if you thought you could just come here and take over the planet. You are not the first tyrannical idiot I ever fought. You dug your own grave. And mark my words when I say that I am going to bury you in it." The funky-haired warrior declared, astonishing everyone, who was in the nearby vicinity. Everybody stopped fighting to see what would come next. Both heroes and Parademons could only wait for whatever was to come. Before anyone could see, Darkseid attacked. And even for someone as big as him he was fast. Delivering a powerful right hook into the warrior's guts, followed by two powerful clotheslines into the new comer's face. The warrior was not able to block all of them. Or rather, he didn't look like attempting if his small grin plastered across his lips was any indication. Darkseid grabbed him from his widow peak and started punching him into the stomach. But suddenly, the man disappeared and reappeared some meters ways totally unscratched, faster than anyone could see. Darkseid decided to finish this and fired again his deadly Omega Beams.

The alien warrior moved to his left, easily avoiding them. But Darkseid immediately changed the beam's path to attack him in the back. The warrior turned back and received the full impact on the Omega Beams in his chest. The explosion created a cloud of smoke, so nobody could see if anything had survived.

"Nobody defies a God, mortal. But don't worry, your mistake has been paid." Darkseid said with a sadistic smile. Darkseid had won! The heroes looked on hopeless. The new warrior that could have helped them was surely now lying motionless on the ground.

But as the smoke cleared up, a figure could be seen through the fog. The man was intact. He had withstood Darkseid's Beams without any kind of scratch or injury. That was something that no one could do. Darkseid was totally motionless, his eyes widened in utter disbelief.

"Is that all you've got?" The alien fighter gazed towards Darkseid, with a sarcastic smile arms folded across his chest. His gaze turned serious arms dropping to the sides. Then he started yelling. A shockwave of new power was released from his blue-cladded body and made the ground at the heroes' feet shake like an earthquake. Rocks and concrete rubble started rising defying the laws of gravity.

"The name's Vegito," The new man stated with quite a grin plastered on his face. Large portions of soil now started rising from the ground and more shock waves of power made the entire place to shake. The new hero's body was changing. His muscles were buffing up while his black hair seemed to be moved by an invisible wind and his eyes changed from midnight black to emerald green. "And now you are facing a Super Saiyan!" With a powerful scream of unbridled might, his hair erupted into golden locks and he was engulfed with a blazing fire. "And you are history!"

Notes from chapter 1:

The original chapter had been "spoken" from Superman's point of view. But I changed that to fit the rest of the story.

I think I may have overdone the way Darkseid is portrayed here. But he is the evil guy so no one really cares about him.

The characters' power levels will be said in next chapters, that if I continue to write it.

Brief references to other DC Comics, who Superman fought against like Brainiac and Doomsday.

Vegito didn't need to transform. Just like with Majin Buuhan he will toy with Darkseid. And also cause real pain and suffering.

I know this story might look similar to SonRyu's one but I was inspired by it.

That was chapter 1. I hope you have liked it. Any reviews are welcome but if you don't like my story then just don't read it. See you later!
