dominique has never found an opposite quite like lysander. they grow up in the most opposite way possible. dominique, in a french chateau half the time, the other half in an english country house. lysander, travelling across egypt and peru and malaysia and australia, all before he's eleven, and then a million other places before he finishes school.

dominique is a gryffindor, like a firecracker, new year's eve every day of the year. lysander is a hufflepuff, kind and forgiving and his own kind of courageous. he's brave and she's scared but he's quiet and she's loud, so y'know, it's not like anyone notices him when there's her, and there's always been her around, for as long as he could remember. even in eqypt and peru and malaysia and australia, there was always her on his mind. every day he's away he imagines coming back to her, and they could stay together forever, and raise a family and never leave england again. he rather likes this idea.

she has no such fantasy. while he was missing home, she was dreaming of all the adventures she could be having, off and away and never again seeing anyone she knows, all alone, without her family or her friends or even him. she could travel to exciting places like egypt and peru and malaysia and australia and never have to worry about raising a family. she rather likes this idea.

dominique has never found an equivalent quite like lysander. they read tolstoy together and they despise shakespeare but romeo and juliet is okay, if not a little sappy. they take muggle studies and arithmancy but not care of magical creatures because it's quite unnecessary, really. they already have an uncle charlie and cousin rose (because lysander is, of course, part of the family), what do you need a class for?

they live in the shadow of their siblings, in awe of their cousins, and captivated by each other. when she's upset, he's comforting, when he's angry, she's calm, they live on a set of scales, only adding to their lives what the other can handle, a life-long struggle to keep their scales balanced.
