Minato woke up from his peaceful slumber as daylight poured through the curtains to shine directly into his face. He felt absolutely exhausted, which considering what he had just gone through he should've expected it. When he tried to sit up a groan escaped his lips as his sore body protested against any movement. He looked around trying to get his bearings and saw he was in a hospital room, with the last spells of sleep finally leaving him the memories came back to him and he noticed that Kushina was no longer in bed next to him and that the twins were gone.
Panic started to fill his heart as the image of the Shinigami unwillingly came to mind. Minato quickly banished the image from his mind and told himself that they were perfectly fine. After a few more seconds Minato decided that just lying in bed wouldn't tell him where his family went to so he tried to get up. It took a few tries to stand up, his body was unbelievably stiff, but once he was Minato realized that even though he felt drained he still felt pretty good despite what he had gone through the previous night. Just as he was about to make his way to the door, a nurse opened it.
"Oh, Lord Hokage! You're awake, oh that's such a relief," She said with a smile after getting over her surprise. She quickly made her way over to him, "How're you feeling?"
"Pretty good actually but that's not important, can you tell me where my family is?"
The nurse blinked once before offering a kind smile, "Of course sir. The twins were taken for another check up and to get their chakra levels stabilized. Both have more chakra than most infants than what we've seen and since Naruto is now holds the demon we want to make sure that he is doing ok. But don't worry the doctors say that everything should check out."
Minato breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that, he should have known that the doctors and nurses wouldn't try anything but he couldn't help but be worried on how people would see his children with all that's happened the past night.
"As for lady Kushina I believe she is down in the cafeteria. Something about not being served enough food." Minato could only sweat drop at that.
Seriously Kushina? He thought before asking, "Is that even allowed?"
"Well when we tried to stop her she…..well I'd rather not think about it to be honest…" She said with a shiver. Minato sighed and hung his head; yep that was his wife alright. She hated being told no. "Ok thank you very much. I think I'll head down there myself and see if I can find her," He said heading for the door but only made it a few steps before the nurse stopped him. "I'm sorry sir but I can't let you leave just yet, not until we do an evaluation. We need to make sure that there wasn't any lasting damage from your fight the other night," The nurse told him while grabbing the phone on the wall to page the doctor, "It shouldn't take very long."
Minato sighed impatiently before sitting back down, it might actually do some good to go along with it. Ten minutes later and he free to go and he made his way to the cafeteria. As he walked through the halls his mind drifted to previous night and his heart broke all over again. What he did was unforgivable in his mind and it took all of his willpower to not scream his anguish and rage. He had made his son a Jinchuriki. People would look at him differently, fearfully maybe depending on the situation. Minato sighed once more, hopefully he could quell their fears on the matter and make sure they understand that his son is a hero. HIs mind then went to that damn deal he had been forced into and he grit teeth in anger.
That fucking Death God, Minato thought in a rage, the Shinigami was going to take his son and there wasn't a single thing that he could do to stop it. He had accepted the deal and he knew that despite all of his skill and power there was no way he could defeat a god.
Looking up Minato noticed that he standing in front of the cafeteria, taking a breath and a moment to calm himself down Minato pushed the door open and began to search for his wayward wife.
Knowing Kushina it shouldn't be hard to find her.
And true enough it wasn't, after just one seep of the area he spotted her and once more sweat dropped at his lovely wife when he saw her. A mountain of empty plates and bowls covered the table that the red haired beauty had claimed as her own.
Minato made his way over to her, "Hey honey."
Kushina looked up from her plat of friend rice to look at him before simply going back to her food as if she hadn't noticed him at all. Minato felt a small stab of pain at the quick dismissal but knew that she was still upset with him.
"May I join you?"
"Do what you want."
Minato slowly took a seat across from her, Ok she's still angry but still that went better than it usually would've gone.
Kushina put her now empty plate on top of the closest stack before grabbing a plate of barbeque beef strips, "Help yourself, this stuff is pretty good for hospital food." Minato smiled his thanks and grabbed a bowl of steamed rice and reached for some chopsticks and started eating. After two mouthfuls he asked, "How are you feeling Kushi-chan?"
He hoped using the nickname he gave her when they first started dating would help ease her anger towards him, she loved it when he called her that after all. It seemed to work as well since he saw her shoulders relax ever so slightly, "I'm alright I guess. Still pretty sore but that's usually what happens when you push two football sized people out of your vag-"
"Kushina!"
Minato quickly looked around, with a blush staining his cheeks, hoping no had heard what Kushina almost said or his outburst. Thankfully no one seemed to have noticed so he turned his attention back to his wife who seemed slightly startled by his sudden shout, "This isn't exactly the best place to be saying stuff like that! I swear sometimes you are just way too bold," Minato sighed. In response Kushina just shrugged not looking embarrassed in the slightest; in fact she looked like she was enjoying the whole situation. She always loved seeing Minato lose his cool since he hardly ever did. "Whatever," She said with a cocky grin before it shifted to a look of concern, "More importantly though what about you? How do you feel?"
Minato looked down and focused on his plate before answering, "I'm fine, just exhausted."
"The truth."
"Honey, that was the truth."
"Minato…"
At her threatening growl Minato finally looked up and locked eyes with his agitated wife and even though he could tell she was annoyed he saw in her eyes how truly concerned she was. Sighing quietly to himself Minato reached across the table and clasped her hand in his own, "Truthfully I'm still kind of freaked out and worried beyond all belief about what's going to happen," He admitted. Minato started rubbing small circles with his thumb affectionately and then look at her with a confident smile, "But I know that we'll be ok, together there's nothing that we can't do."
Kushina fought for it for a second but in the end failed and returned the smile with a small one of her own, That damn smile of his always gets me, She thought with a quiet laugh. It didn't last long though as a frown soon replaced it and Kushina took her hand back and returned her attention to her meal, picking up the last item on the table. It was her favorite and extra large bowl of beef and pork ramen. With a practiced expertise she proceeded to inhale the noodles and broth. Minato couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his lips as he went back to his food, a (possibly unhealthy) love for ramen was one of the first things that they had found they had in common. It was also the meal that they had on their first date so many years ago.
"I'm, still mad at you."
Snapping out of his memories, Minato stared at his wife with his mouth full of food. Kushina merely continued to eat with her frown still in place though she had to fight the giggle that was trying to crawl out of her mouth, her husband looked extremely cute at the moment. "Huh?" Minato said once he had swallowed his food and set his bowl down.
"You heard me." She simply said. Minato blinked owlishly, confused, and in a rare moment of stupidity for the great Yellow Flash he said the worst possible thing for this situation, "Mad about what?"
Bad move Minato, very bad move.
A huge tick mark appeared on Kushina's forehead and with incredible speed she threw her chopsticks just like she would a kunai and it hit home, right in the middle of her husband's forehead. The impact was great enough that Minato's head snapped backwards and he suddenly found himself staring at the ceiling with a very angry red mark blossoming where he had been hit.
Looking back at his wife Minato saw the absolute fury in her face and he was suddenly very worried for his life. And his man hood.
"Ow, what was that for?" He asked as he rubbed the now tender spot.
"For being an idiot you dumbass," Kushina growled as she picked up a fork to continue eating. Minato blinked at that, it wasn't often she called him something so harsh and mean it "Huh?" He couldn't help but ask, "I'm talking about that stupid stunt you pulled last night you bastard. Just disappearing with that stupid jutsu…" Kushina spat out with a enough venom to kill a man.
Realization donned on Minato as he thought about it, it definitely was his most golden moment. He had not thought of how everyone would feel when he had made his decision to take Naruto to the frontline. If things had gone the way they should have he would be dead right now and the last time he would see his family would've just been him telling of his plan to, essentially, sacrifice his son's future and him just teleporting away without a single word of farewell, I really am an idiot.
Minato slowly reached across the table and gently took Kushina's hand into his own and gave it a soft squeeze, "I am so sorry my love but I honestly didn't see any other option," He said as he rubbed his thumb in a small circle. Kushina didn't really respond to his words or touch but Minato also noted that she hadn't pulled away either so he took that as a good sign.
"I know. I know that Minato," She said after a moment, "It's just that the whole thing is so unfair and I wish so much that none of this happened, ya know? Why our son? I mean, I know 'why' but just…why?" Kushina clenched her eyes shut so that the tears that were threatening to spill down her face could not escape. "Naruto is barely a day old and now he has to bear these burdens. Being a Jinchuriki and having a Death God wanting him? That's just too much…" She spoke softly so that no one could hear what they were talking about and so that she could keep the trembling out of her voice. Minato frowned and looked down at the table, the guilt of what he had done destroying him.
"It's ok."
Minato looked up and saw Kushina wiping her eyes before giving him the smallest of smiles but a smile nonetheless, "I know you did what thought was right and that it saved the village and all of the villagers. Like I said last night; it's just gonna take me some time to stop being angry with you and to get used to this. That doesn't me I don't love you anymore."
Minato couldn't believe what he had just heard or stop the tear that slid down his face. The one true love of his life was willing to forgive his greatest sin. Quickly wiping his eyes, a bright smile took over his face as he looked at Kushina. Leaning forward he cupped her face and brought her into a loving kiss, to which she happily responded to. After a second or two they pulled apart and went back to finishing their meals. Minato was as happy as can be, everything was going to be alright and things were going back to normal.
"You're punishment, however, for scaring the hell out of me, doing the sealing AND dying for a few minutes is that for a whole year you have to take care of the babies whenever they wake up during the night," Kushina said after she had fished her ramen.
Eyes bugging out, Minato started choking on a piece of food and started to pound of his chest trying to dislodge it from his windpipe. Some people turned to see what the commotion was but upon seeing the scene of their leader choking and his wife looking unaffected and extremely pleased at the same time they wisely went back to their own business thinking that it had nothing to do with them. Across from her husband Kushina just smirked at the spectacle before her, it being a bonus serving of revenge. After a few more pounds Minato was able to breathe properly again and looked at Kushina in horror, "B-b-b-but Kushina that's-that's not fai-Gah!" He shouted after ducking to avoid a fork that was sent straight to his face. Looking behind him Minato saw that the forked was embedded, more like buried, in the wall behind him that more than a few people looked absolutely terrified as they too stared at the utensil turned deadly weapon. Slowly, Minato turned back to his wife and saw that she was wearing an overly-sweet smile, "What was that my darling husband? Did you just say that it wasn't fair?"
Minato was sweating bullets now, "Its-I..we-but I? You?" He stammered before falling silent as he noticed that the Hot-blooded Habanero had emerged and was now staring him down. Her hair was somehow now floating around and her eyes were now glowing with rage and in that moment Minato was beyond terrified and id someone asked him if he'd rather face his wife or the Nine-tails again, he'd choose the fox.
Kushina leaned forward, her hand very close to knife that was left on the table, and spoke slowly and clearly, "It. Is. Your. Punishment! Un. Der. Stand?" She growled out.
Minato could only cower and nod rapidly, too scared to even speak.
And just like that Kushina was back to normal with a bright smile on her face as she sipped her water. While Minato, well Minato just set his head on the table and cried anime tears.
A/N: Uh hi? I know that it's been a REALLY long time since I last updated and I can't excuse myself or say how sorry I am. Only that I will try to do better. So for this chapter there was plenty of emotion right? I also tried to keep it light at some points since I'm not good at drama. anyway look forward to the next chapter which should be coming out sometime this month. Until then try some of my other stories and keep an eye out for a brand new one coming soon. PEACE!
