I stepped through the main doors of the school drenching wet and shivering from the cold that Gotham City had offered today. My body was soaked with water as my clothes tugged tightly against my skin and my hair fell flat on my face with droplets of water dripping from the ends. Last night's forecast promised sunny skies and chirping birds but this is Gotham we are talking about and if there is one thing that I have learned about Gotham, it is the fact that the city likes to give out surprises. Today's surprise consisted of a downpour rain on my way to school, no umbrella in the back seat (which I could have sworn I placed there the last time it rained), and parking on the other side of the school.

I removed my jacket once I got to my locker which did absolutely nothing to protect me from the rain and twisted it to let as much water out of it as I could. A puddle beneath my feet formed but I ignored it as I spotted the janitor down the hall mopping water puddles around the school. I glanced in the magnetic mirror attached to the door of my locker and internally cringed at my sight. Letting out a sigh, I combed my fingers through my wet hair that was beginning to take on it's natural curl and tried to make myself look decent for today.

Walking down the halls of the school to my first period, I received various stares which were not welcomed. Girls would stare and give me a dirty look while the guys would stare and attempt to put on a flirtatious smirk as my now extremely wet and white t-shirt revealed my pink bra.

I nearly run into someone as I placed my head down and tried to make myself small.

"You're in my way", a voice said.

I turned around to see Jamie, one of my peers who transferred here form Steel City not too long ago. I put on a smile and gave her a sincere apology for not looking where I was going.

But of course that was not satisfactory to her. She whispered beneath her breath before walking away but I was in earshot and able to catch her remark. Stinky Anders is what she called me as she made her way down the hall opposite of me.

I do not think people actually know my real name thanks to Kitten, a person I would like to refer to as the school bully. I came into school one day with dog poop on the bottom of my shoe and before I knew it I was known as Stinky Anders.

And do you want to know what is even worse than being called Stinky Anders? Sitting next to the devil herself in first period.

Grabbing onto my bag tightly, I walked towards my seat and tried not to make eye contact with any of my classmates. I ignored the evil glint in Kitten's eyes as I took out my school books to get ready for today's lesson.

She was staring at my form, her eyes just going up and down to try to find one little thing to torment me about. Usually she makes fun of my clothing choice or my accent when I speak. She smiled as she caught onto something before letting out a giggle.

"Oh my god!" she loudly exclaimed to make sure the whole class could hear. "You've worn those boots like every single day for the past month. Those things are ugly and look like they're going to fall apart. Don't you like have something else to wear or can't you afford it?"

There it is again. That evil glint in her eyes.

Usually I am really good at keeping quiet and try to not make things worse but sometimes I really just cannot help myself but say something. I guess it is the "Stinky Anders" in me that really needs to fight back sometimes.

Sighing in annoyance, I turned to her and put on my best Kitten impersonation, "Do you always like have to like talk like that or is daddy incapable of buying you some elegance?"

There was some snickers behind me and I turned to two of my male classmates. Victor "Vic" Stone, one of the biggest and muscular jocks in the school and Wallace "Wally" West, a fellow redhead and fastest on his sport's team.

You see, even though I am not the most popular or social in this school, there is one thing that me and the jocks have in common. We all absolutely hate Kitten.

Vic gave Wally a fist pound before moving towards me with his fist out. "Good one little lady" he commented.

Raising an eyebrow, I connected my fist with his and let out a small smile, "Thank you."

Kitten was seething in her seat and I could have sworn I saw smoke coming out of both her ears. If there is one thing that Kitten hates the most, it is other people being the center of attention.

I looked up to the sound of the door closing and my teacher walked into the room. "Alright class, let us begin and enter the world of Chemistry."

By the time school ended that day, the rain had stopped and the sun had finally come out. I took in the smell of petrichor, the earthy scent that the rain produced which always satisfied me to the core. The walk to my car was a long one but I smiled once I took in the sight of my faded turquoise pick up truck. Well it was not "my" truck but rather a truck that my siblings and I like to share.

As I drove out of the school parking lot there was a glimpse of black before I slammed on my brakes and stopped myself from completely crushing into the steering wheel. The driver of the black vintage Camaro rolled down his window and gave me a small apologetic wave before driving off school property and my heart nearly dropped when I realized who that was. Richard John Grayson or "Dick" as people like to call him was considered the prince of Gotham. He was adopted by Bruce Wayne one of the wealthiest people in the state who literally owned half the city.

I have met Dick once when we had to partner up during a class activity and my first impression was how gorgeous he was even when wearing his dark sunglasses but I never got to really know him on a personal level. I mean how could I? He and I do not speak and I highly doubt that he would be interested in being friends with a girl like me. He is the most popular boy in school, the most richest boy in all of Gotham, and he plays football.

And me? I am Stinky Anders

By the way my real name is Korina 'Kori' Anders and I am a junior at Gotham High and let us just say that life has been cruel since I moved to Gotham.
