Hermione woke in the hospital wing, the stench of cleaning products burned her nose. Turning to her right she saw Harry with Ron sitting at the end of his bed .

"Harry, Ron!" She almost shouted, sitting up way to quickly and causing little silver stars to scatter her vision. "Where is Malfoy?" She said a little quieter as the boys smiled and moved to the side of her bed.

"I'm right here you dim wit." The familiar voice croaked from the bed to her left.

"What happened to Professor Lockhart?" She asked and as if on que Dumbledore walked in.

"Don't worry, we have taken care of that. I am here to let you all know, you better get changed quickly and make your way down the the great hall in time for the feast." He beamed as he stood at the end of Hermiones' bed.

When they arrived the great hall was crowded and nodding a quick goodbye to Ron and Harry, Draco led the bushy haired girl over to the Slytherin table. The room fell silent as their Head Professor rose.

"Before we begin the feast, I would like to announce a big thank you and let us have a round of applause for Professor Sprout and Madam Pomfrey for their mandrake juice, that has been so successfully administered to all who had been petrified!"A loud applause filled the room and Hermione couldn't help but smile. "Also in light of recent events, all exams have been cancelled!" This was Draco's turn to smile and laugh under his breath as he caught Hermione mutter;

"Oh for goodness sake."

The cheering continued until the large wooden doors swung open and with a few thumps entered Hagrid.

"Sorry i'm late." He mumbled as everyone turned to stare and with a few more thumps he made his way down the middle of the hall stopping in front of Ron and Harry. Hermione couldn't here exactly what he was mumbling until Harry rose.

"Hogwarts wouldn't be the same without you Hagrid." From this the cheering continued.

Soon enough they were on their way home and pulled into platform 9 3/4. Grabbing her trunk and wrapping her cloak around her, she climbed out of the carriage and began to look for her mother and father. Catching their eye she found them both stand so elegantly by the wall, she couldn't help a beaming smile spread across her face.

"Oh Darling! How we have missed you, we have been worried sick, what with the Daily Prophet saying you had gone missing" her mother squealed as she pulled her into a hug.

"Honestly I was going to press charges we have been worried sick! Thank Merlin for Malfoy's son. Remind me we must send their family a gift." Her father exclaimed before pulling her in for a hug also. "Come now, we must go. Dinner will be ready soon."

Hermione began to follow her Parents over to the portkey before she noticed Malfoy standing just behind his parents, who were in deep discussion.

"Malfoy! I just wanted to say thank you again, for everything you did for me this year! a lot of things are about to happen... we need to start figuring out how to get back." She whispered a little too forcefully at him. He listened to her and gave a quick nod.

"Hermione, come on cricket!" She heard her mother call her.

"I will look in our family library!" She called back to blonde haired boy, who smiles quickly in her direction before he too also left.

The summer had passed quickly for Hermione and before she knew it, it was the morning before they were set to go to Diagon alley. She was laying in bed looking out through the large glass wall, across the fields when an unfamiliar owl caught her attention, it flew up to the glass and started knocking its beak until Hermione walked into the bathroom and opened the small window to let it in. Attached was a letter and she could already tell by the handwriting that it was from Harry. After petting the owl and feeding it a treat, she closed the window and slowly made her way to her dresser where she opened the note.

Dear Hermione

I am sorry I have not written to you much this summer, Uncle Vernon has been very strict and wouldn't let Hedwig out for long. I really hope you have had a nice break and not gotten into any more trouble! You should have seen what happened the other week, I accidentally blew my aunt up like a balloon, i don't know how it happened really, but Cornelius Fudge was there and i was let off the hook because it was "accidental magic"! Anyway long story short i caught the night bus to the Leaky Cauldron where i found out that Sirius Black has escaped Azakaban! I wondered if you knew anything about it? If not have a look in the Daily Prophet and i will see you soon!

Hermione furrowed her eyebrows, of course, Sirius had escaped how could she have forgotten. But that also means he is alive! She couldn't make the same mistake this year! She knew she has a chance to change the course of events but before she has that chance she knows she needs to find a way to convince Harry who Sirius really is!

With her head pounding she got dressed and made her way downstairs.

"Hermione darling, looking beautiful as always" Her mother cooed as she was putting her travelling cloak on. "There are Scones on the table, but we have to hurry as your father is meeting someone in Diagon alley." on that note her father walked in, all dressed and ready to go. Picking up a scone she followed until they all stood around the fireplace.

"Right dear i shall go first, the you then you father as we are all getting to big to fit together these days." Hermione simply nodded and waited for her turn and next thing she knew she was at the leaky cauldron itself. "Okay darling, here is your list of books and dont forget to go to Magical Menagerie and pick yourself a cat, toad or rat for this year at Hogwarts!" she said before being signalled to follow Serianth out of the inn.

A slightly confused Hermione was left standing on her own in the middle of the pub, it was unlike her parents to leave so quickly and thinking about it all summer they had been acting strange. But she soon shrugged it off when she caught sight of Harry talking to Mr. Weasley.
