Kings Cross, a typical train station in London. People walked about, many in a hurry to reach their train on time. Children ran around excited about riding the large locomotives, with the exasperated parents several steps behind them One Harry Potter walked into the station, his scar covered as usual and a pair a dark blue sun-glasses over his eyes. Dressed in a grey T-shirt and black cargo pants he stood out from the average person, but not enough to draw unwanted attention. As no place stood out as different, he concluded that the entrance was hidden from view to preserve the secretive nature of the wizarding nation. However, before Harry could do anything else a rather loud woman caught his eye.

"Come one dears! We mustn't be late for the express!" Dressed in robes, the entire family of red heads stood out like a sore thumb. The woman was of short stature, around five-two with dark robes that seemed well worn. She looked as if searching for something, or someone the way her eyes were flickering back and forth around the station, usually pausing on children for a second before moving on. "Go ahead now! Hurry up you lot!" The children, four boys and a girl, turned towards the nearest pillar. The youngest boy turned and ran trolley-first towards it before phasing through the wall, yet no one seemed to react to his apparent disappearance. After him a pair of twins and a stern looking boy, the eldest of the group, went in after. The woman and remaining child then stood as if waiting for something. Harry concluded that these were obviously wizards and moved towards the pillar, avoiding eye contact with two red-heads. Watching out of the corner of his eye, Harry saw the woman's vision flicker to his face before discarding him as whoever she was looking for so he slipped by without incident.

Once through, he was slightly stunned by the large station before him, seems wizards had some experience with using their power. Shaking of his surprise at the sheer size of the area, he moved on to the train. Walking through Harry saw most of the compartments were full towards the front, so he went to the immediate back for an empty room as expected. He stowed his luggage before sitting and commanding his computer on. A translucent cyan screen popped up before him, paper then in length. "Computer, check gathered data." The screen then switched showing several graphs, numbers, and a large text box written in a language made up of glyphs.

Scan complete.

Subject: Hogwarts Express and Station

The area around the Hogwarts Express is a spatial anomaly. Scans shows the size

for the Express Station should be impossible, yet it exists due to the space around

it being warped by unknown means, presumed magic. 99% of beings on the station

are Homo Saipan, one undocumented subject found. Scans of the unknown show an

energy similar to most thought-magic users. 92% of humans on the station have an

energy present in most spell-magic users. The Express shows all signs of being a normal

locomotive, however spell-energy around the engine compartment suggest magic has

been added to sustain it for a longer than normal time period. All other parts of the

train behave as normal regardless of the energy.

Entry saved to logbook.

Additional note:

Due to the nature of thought-magic and spell-magic, it is currently unknown how

your magic will be affected and will affect the magic used by the wizards. Further

scans and testing recommended.

"Very well, enter sleep mode until further notice." A slight beep accompanied his words and the screen disappeared. Harry had just sat back and was waiting for the train to start heading towards their destination when he heard footsteps outside the compartment door. Someone approached the door and slid it open. It was the youngest red-head from earlier, though he was alone this time.

"Can I sit here? The rest are full." Harry merely waved his hand towards the opposite seat in acknowledgement before leaning back with his eyes closed, hands moving behind his head. The other boy put his stuff in the above bins before sitting in the seat directly across from Harry, though the tension in his posture showed he was uncomfortable with Harry's apparent silence. "So, I'm Ron." After Harry showed no intention of talking back, Ron asked his name but again got no reply. He huffed before sitting back with his arms cross, and the train started forwards.

Harry had so far enjoyed the train ride; Ron being left to his own devices had started eating a sandwich of some sort. However the quite time was soon interrupted when the door slip open and a young blond flanked by two large boys entered of his own accord.

"I've heard Harry Potter is on this train. Are one of you him?" He said before turning towards Ron with a sneer, "It can't be you. Ragged clothes, red head, a Weasley." The last word dripped with disdain, as though said Weasleys were below the blonds level of stature. Ron went to talk back, but Harry beat him to it though his posture remained as it had since Ron entered, "Don't. Mr. stick-up-ass' type simply get excited when people respond to their goading."

Blondie's head moved with record speed, "And what might my type be, mudblood?!" The same disdain for Weasley seemed to have doubled with the new word. Harry remained un-phased and respond making eye contact, "Annoying." At this the blond got red-faced and walked out, "Your type, mudblood, well regret trying to get up to the likes of the pure-bloods. They should never have allowed you into Hogwarts." After this, Harry closed his eyes are pretended it never happened, though Ron tried to get Harry into a conversation again.

Finally arriving, Harry grabbed a slim backpack he had left on the ground before putting his robes over it and his normal clothes before exiting the train. "First years! First years over here!" A large man was shouting as he stood by the lake shore-line, motioning for the new students to climb into the boats, "That's it, no more than four to a boat." Harry choose an empty boat while Ron went to sit with some other kind, apparently fed up with Harry's distant attitude.

"That everyone? Alright then, FORWARD!" At the shout all the boats began moving forward with no visible means of propulsion, before heading under a stone arch at which the large man instructed they duck. "Okay then, you should be getting your first view of the castle now." True to his word, the sight caused many students to gasp at view of Hogwarts, a few breaking out in excited whispers. Once the ride had ended, the man then lead then towards a pair of large double doors and proceeded to bang on them three times with his fist. The doors open to reveal a rather stern looking woman in black robes with green trim and a pointed black hat. "The first years McGonagall."

"Thank you Hagrid. This way children." She led them towards another set of double doors, though these were smaller than the first pair. "You will be sorted into the appropriate house, please stand quietly until your name is called. She then opened the doors to a large dining hall with five tables, four ran parallel with the walls while a head table and podium sat upon a raised platform. On the platform a stool sat with an old black pointed hat, and before the students could think of where to go a rip appeared like a large mouth so the hat could begin to sing,

Oh you may not think I'm pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you can find

A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head

The Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

if you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folks use any means

To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!

And don't get in a flap!

You're in safe hands (though I have none)

For I'm a Thinking Cap!

At this the students got even more excited, and the sorting began with McGonagall yelling out the first name. It continued in alphabetical order, when called each student would sit on the stool before having the hat placed on their head. It would usually take only a couple seconds before sorting someone into either Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin and their clothes would change to that color scheme after the sorting. The blond from the train, a Draco Malfroy, was sorted to Slytherin a couples turns before Harry himself was called up though the hat never touched his head. At Harry's turn many students broke out in whispers and the school Headmaster seemed to frown lightly, the man in black next to him sneered with extreme loathing.

"You're not Harry Potter…"

That's the most surprising thing you found? Even while saying, or thinking, this, Harry clamped down on the hat with a mental hand. No matter what, this is not to be repeated regardless of circumstance. If I find someone has learned this through you, I will burn you to the ground.

"Very well. Now, in regards to your nature you would fit well within most of the houses. Your learning and vast intellect would suit Ravenclaw rather well. Your powerful and cunning nature would allow you to follow your ambition in Slytherin. While you do have traits for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, I believe either Ravenclaw or Slytherin to be the best choice."

Where am I expected to go?

"I'll not lie, most everyone here expects Gryffindor."

Then place me there.

"Are you sure? The other…"

Yes. This will make others believe me to still be the Harry they view.

"That's a very Slytherin tactic, I would suggest…"

Gryffindor.

"Very well. Better be GRYFFINDOR!" The house was called out loud, and students at that table began cheering, some giving a standing ovation. Harry sat on the end, next to a young girl with bushy brown hair who stared at him. Many students crowded around and asked questions, several about his scar, but when he never acknowledged their existence they dispersed. After the last sorting, the Headmaster stood and walked the few steps to the podium. "Before we began to eat, I would like to say a few words. Newt, bobbet, tweet, thank you." At this food appeared on the table and the students, old and new, began to converse as they ate. None other than Harry noticed how the Headmaster's gaze seemed to linger on the boy before he turned back to his seat.

BLARG! That was fun. Alrighty, expect updates to be spaced a bit more like this. I'm sorry for any spelled or grammar errors, if you see any just let me know. Also, I know those are not the EXACT words Dumbledore used in the opening speech, I'm going to have to change that later along with add in a few names for the sorting. I was pressed with time and un-able to look them up at the moment. For now assume everything went the same, everyone is still in the same house. And just so I don't get questions on this, magic is in two major categories: though/will and spell. Though/will magic is thinking it and having it happen, though it can be bound to a language it is only limited by the user imagination or knowledge of the language. Spell magic is bound to spells, which must be done in a very precise way for the spell to work. Welp, that's what I got for now. Expect an editing of the last three chapters, including this one, before another update. Reviewing makes for a better story, and motivation for me! Tell me what's wrong and watch it magically (Look, I made a punny!) disappear!
