Really sorry for the really late update but, I was busy preparing for my new school year. I had this chapter written before Valentine's Day but I lost the file which I had saved the chapter in, so I had to rewrite it.

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.

Thoughts

Lyra woke up early the next morning, she showered and got dressed in and a blue and white striped dress with a warm black jacket and blue sneakers. She grabbed her pokéballs and bag, before leaving the room quietly. Lyra made her way to the cafeteria where she bumped into Ethan along the way. Lyra had an early morning class and she wanted to grab some breakfast before it, she never thought that she would bump into Ethan.

"You have a class this morning?" Asked Ethan?

Lyra nodded, "Music theory."

"Shall we have breakfast together? I'm doing some training this morning." Said Ethan.

Lyra stayed quiet for a moment while reading Ethan's aura before nodding. The entered their cafeteria and got their food. Lyra got herself a plate for waffles while Ethan settled for pancakes with bacon.

"What if I said that I need your power?" Asked Ethan.

Lyra caught on to Ethan's soft but serious tone. "What for?"

"It's the only way to free us." Replied Ethan.

Lyra frowned, "I don't know what you are going through but I will help in whatever I can."

"But I have to prove that I'm worthy to be helped right?" Interrupted Ethan.

Lyra nodded, an aura guardian can only purify and not kill. But in order to purify someone that person must be worthy in the eyes of an aura guardian.

"If you can, you should tell us and how we can help you." Said Lyra.

Ethan clenched his fist, "I'm not ready yet, I'm afraid that the others can't handle it."

Lyra raised an eyebrow at Ethan's statement and the latter ran off after finishing his breakfast. Lyra mentally noted that Ethan was bothered by something and it was something that he couldn't tell others so easily. Lyra suspected that whatever secret that Ethan had, none of his friends knew it, perhaps other than his sister.

Lyra got up and left the cafeteria and headed for her morning class but her conversation with Ethan was always on her mind. Only Skyala seemed to notice that Lyra was distracted. Skyala brought her roommate over to a corner of their dorm.

"What's on your mind?" Asked Skyala?

Lyra lay on her bed, "Ethan told me something this morning."

"And what was that?" Asked Skyala.

"He needed my power to free them." Replied Lyra, quietly.

"I suspected something, but I never thought that our powers had something to do with it." Said Skyala.

"Neither did I, and things aren't as what they seem. I have a feeling that Ethan doesn't want anyone to know so please don't tell anyone." Said Lyra.

"I won't tell anyone, we may be enemies but I know how to respect someone privacy." Nodded Skyala.

"Anyway, I'm going for my class. And don't tell anyone." Said Lyra.

Lyra got up and left the dorm. Skyala took her friend's words into consideration and decided to go and find Ethan. Skyala got her pokéballs and left the dorm. Skyala wandered around the school until she came to the school's battle fields. She found Ethan having a battle with one of their fellow schoolmates. Ethan's Garchomp went against a Pidgeot. Ethan's Garchomp easily defeated its opponent with a powerful Dragon Claw.

"Care for a battle?" Skyala heard herself say.

Ethan raised an eyebrow hearing Skyala's voice. Ethan watched Skyala's battle against Sky but he didn't watch her battle tournament matches, as such he couldn't judge how strong was Skyala.

"Why not?" Replied Ethan.

Skyala replaced Ethan's opponent on the field. Skyala unclipped a Pokéball from her belt and released her Lopunny. Ethan decided to keep his Garchomp on the field. Ethan wondered why Skyala didn't use her Delcatty, which could use assist. But Ethan mentally noted that Delcatty would have a size disadvantage against Garchomp. Lopunny was still smaller than Garchomp but it wouldn't have as much of a size disadvantage against Garchomp.

"You can have the first move." Said Ethan.

"Use Shadow Ball!" Said Skyala.

Lopunny released an eerie ball of energy from it's hands and threw it towards Garchomp.

"Use Leaf Blade." Replied Ethan, calmly.

"Dodge it!" Said Skyala.

"Catch Lopunny!" Said Ethan.

"Her Lopunny is fast, it's most likely her speed player." Thought Ethan, as he watched Lopunny dodge Garchomp's Leaf Blade.

Lopunny jumped out of the way but Garchomp caught hold of Lopunny before the former could jump again. Lopunny struggled against Garchomp's strong grip.

"Use Ice Beam!" Said Skyala, calmly.

Lopunny quickly released a cold beam of ice from it's mouth. Garchomp was taken aback an stumbled, releasing Lopunny from it's grip.

"Use Dizzy Punch!" Said Skyala.

Using its speed and Garchomp's current state of shock, Lopunny punched Garchomp causing Garchomp to stumble. Garchomp regained it's balance and waited for its trainer's instructions.

"Use Dragon Claw." Said Ethan.

Lopunny was ready to jump out of the way before Garchomp suddenly slashed itself.

"He's confused by that Dizzy Punch." Thought Ethan.

"Use Ice Punch!" Said Skyala, taking advantage of the situation.

Ethan braced himself for an Ice Punch but what came up next took him and their audience by surprise. Instead of the normal Ice Punch they were expecting, Lopunny instead released an Ice Beam before using Dizzy Punch. Garchomp had taken significant damage from the Dragon Claw Attack, combined with the current combo attack; Garchomp fainted after being knocked out after being hit by the Dizzy Punch.

"Garchomp is unable to battle, Lopunny wins." Announced the referee.

Both trainers returned their Pokémon into their pokéballs.

"That was a good battle." Said Ethan.

"Same here, but I need to talk to you about something important." Said Skyala.

"I figured as much, I know somewhere quiet where we can talk." Said Ethan.

Ethan led Skyala to a secluded part of the school near the battle fields.

"I heard from Lyra about this morning, I want to know why you are doing this." Spoke Skyala.

Ethan raised an eyebrow but took a deep breath. Although he knew that he never told to Lyra tell anyone but he knew that he could trust Skyala.

"Let's just say that I was born into a family of psychopaths." Shrugged Ethan.

Skyala was taken aback and her face clearly showed it because Ethan responded to her shocked face.

"It's true; I can slip into my other personality too occasionally." Said Ethan.

"What caused you to do this?" Asked Skyala?

Ethan sighed, "My father killed my mother, Dawn and I really want to escape from him."

"And you want us to purify him right?" Asked Skyala?

Ethan nodded, "He didn't just kill my mother, he killed the others' family too. They were forced by my father to do this; otherwise their families would be harmed."

"But why would you want to purify him after what he has done?" Asked Skyala.

"He might have killed lots of people, he's still my father. Dawn doesn't want him to die. And I don't want to end up like him, I know that an aura guardian could erase my past, it will at least let me forget that I was ever born into a psychopathic family." Said Ethan.

"But wouldn't knowing that you were born into such a family make you even more careful not to lose control." Reasoned Skyala.

"Maybe, but I'd rather not remember my father even if Dawn wants to remember him." Said Ethan.

"But he is your father." Reminded Skyala.

"I know, but I don't want to remember want to remember such a man who killed my mother. I wouldn't want to call such a man my father but Dawn forced me to." Said Ethan.

Skyala took a deep breath, "I'll see what I can do, but I cannot assure you that we will be able to erase your memories completely."

Ethan nodded, "Thank you."

"Can I ask something else?" Asked Skyala?

"What is it?" Asked Ethan?

"You mentioned that the others' families were killed too, who was killed exactly?" Asked Skyala?

Ethan raised an eyebrow but answered Skyala's question anyway. "Ash's mother, Drew's older sister and Sky's parents."

"I see, I'll do my best." Said Skyala.

"Sky was adopted if you want to know." Spoke Ethan.

"Really? Well, I was too." Said Skyala

"Well, he mentioned having a childhood friend at the same orphanage. He gave her a daisy hairpin before she was adopted; just like the one you are wearing." Said Ethan.

Skyala touched her hairpin, "I remember getting this before I left the orphanage but I can't remember who gave it to me."

"I'll say this, you are very important to Sky, even if you've only met recently. You should talk to him about this." Said Ethan.

Skyala shrugged, "Maybe, I'll wait for a little while more. I could say the same for you though."

Ethan blinked, "I don't get what you mean."

"I'm talking about Lyra; I can tell that the two of you really have an infinity for each other. You always end up meeting her whenever something happens." Replied Skyala.

Ethan smiled slightly, "Let's just say that we both should talk things out with the other."

Skyala laughed, "I agree, but you should know that I'm always here if you want to talk."

Ethan nodded, "Please don't tell anyone about our conversation."

Skyala nodded, "I won't."

Skyala and Ethan left the area separately. Skyala returned to her dorm and found it to be empty. Skyala went to take a shower before dinner.

Meanwhile with Misty...

Misty was still in class finishing up a sports theory paper. It wasn't due until a few more days but Misty wanted to do as much as she could. But Misty wasn't getting anywhere with her work as such as she decided to pack up and return to her dorm. Misty exited her class but she didn't notice someone in front of her and bumped into someone. Misty blinked when the person in front of her got up and offered her a hand. Misty noticed that it was Ash and she accepted the hand.

"You seem distracted Misty." Said Ash.

Misty blinked, "I guess I'm still trying to get used to the school life here."

Ash chuckled, "You'll get used to it by next week, most students do.

"Were you born here?" Asked Misty.

Ash shook his head, "My mother and I moved a lot because of her job."

"I see, do you have any family living nearby other than your mother?" Asked Misty.

Ash shook his head, "I was adopted by Ethan's mother after my mother died a few years ago."

"Where are you going?" Asked Misty.

"Back to the dorm, I suppose that you are too." Replied Ash.

Misty nodded and noticed that they were already at the dorms.

"Thanks for walking with me; I'll see you later during dinner." Said Misty.

"Same here." Responded Misty.

Misty returned to her dorm and found the others including Kenny there.

"Guys, I think I might have learned something." Spoke Misty.

"And what is that?" Asked Kenny.

"It's about Ash and it might have something to do with Red." Replied Misty.

"I can hook us up with Red; he should be with Leaf right now." Offered Lyra.

Misty nodded and set down her things while Lyra started up her laptop. And sure enough, Leaf was online and Red was with her.

"What's up guys?" Asked Leaf.

"We might have learned something about your family, Red." Said Misty.

Leaf turned to her boyfriend, "Your parents are divorced aren't they? You mentioned that you had a younger brother right?"

Red nodded, "I was really young back then but I remember what happened. I don't think my brother remembers though."

"So what did you find?" Asked Leaf?

"There is a guy named Ash Ketchum in the same grade as May and myself. I had suspicions when I heard his name was the same as your as your family name isn't exactly common but I did some investigations and found out that Ash and his mother moved around a lot and his mother died a few years back." Explained Misty.

Red's face softened, "What does he look like?"

"He looks a lot like you, he could pass off as your younger twin brother actually." Said May.

"I was only three when my parents divorced and my brother was two, but I wouldn't recognise him now and neither would he." Said Red.

"We'll do more investigations to check if he really is your brother." Said Kenny.

"But be careful the both of you, we might be here but our enemy has men all over we have to be careful." Said Lyra.

"Leaf and I will do our best and inform us about anything that comes up. We're worried about you guys too." Said Red.

"We will." Said Kenny, firmly.

Lyra signed off and turned to the other four.

"What do we know now?" Asked May?

"Ash might be related to Red and that could prove to be an advantage or disadvantage to us." Replied Kenny.

"We should do more investigations, we should thread carefully. We're currently in the same school as them, which means that we are in threading in enemy territory. They know the school better than us; it could be advantageous or disadvantageous to us." Said Lyra.

"I agree, we don't know what they will do and the battle tournament officially starts tomorrow. We don't know what they are planning." Said Skyala.

Both Skyala and Lyra tried to sound neutral since they knew a bit of the truth about Ethan and the others. Both of them felt that none of them were willing to do such things, they were forced into this. Skyala didn't just feel that way, she knew it, and after speaking to Ethan she was sure that Ethan and the others were forced into this.

"Let's go for dinner shall we? I'm sure that we'll meet Ethan and the others there." Said Lyra.

"I'm feeling hungry anyway." Said Kenny.

Each Oak spy released their respective eeveelution and scratched it's fur before leaving the dorm. As Lyra predicted they did bump into Ethan and the others on their way to the cafeteria. Ethan's Umbreon walked beside it's trainer and seemed to strike up a conversation with Lyra's Espeon rather than Kenny's Umbreon.

"Umbreon seems to get along with Lyra's Espeon better than Kenny's Umbreon." Spoke Dawn.

"Well, Espeon is a girl and they are of opposite elements. I think they would enjoy a battle between the two of them." Spoke Kenny.

"Espeon always likes a good battle." Said Lyra.

"We should battle sometime." Said Ethan.

"That would be good." Agreed Lyra.

"Anyway, there are no classes tomorrow since the tournament is officially starting. Let's not battle each other so early in the tournament, it wouldn't be fun." Said Sky.

"Let's all have fun during the tournament." Nodded Skyala, happily.

The ten students got their food and sat at a table together. They returned their respective Pokémon before eating. Misty mentally noted that Ash indeed looked a lot like Red. Their hair colour was the same; the only difference would be their eye colour and personality. Ash was a happy-go-lucky kid while Red was more serious. But both were kind of dense and had the same determination to finish what they started.

The ten students conversed while they ate, giving off the impression that they were getting along like schoolmates. Both Lyra and Skyala noted that the others were a lot happier while they were chatting. The two girls wondered if this was the others' true personalities. Behaving like normal teenagers and having fun with their friends. Skyala wondered if they even had a normal childhood, and how they grew up. Skyala could tell that Ethan tries his best not to slip into his other personality but there were times where he couldn't control himself. Skyala suspected that Lyra had some sort of connection to Ethan. She noted that whenever something about Ethan happened, Lyra would be there. Perhaps Ethan reminded Lyra of someone from his past or he was genuinely interested in Lyra.

Thoughts ran through Skyala's mind but it was always on the same topic, how dangerous their enemy was and what secrets did the others have, for them to be forced into this. Skyala placed a hand on her chin and tapped into her aura powers, reading the others' auras. Skyala's element was air and wind, she had really good hearing and could easily detect when things are amiss. Skyala could also read into people's memories and thoughts although she doesn't do this often, since it drains a lot of energy from her and she doesn't want to invade others' privacy. Flashes of memories and thoughts ran through Skyala's mind but one particular memory caught her attention. Skyala closed her eyes as she took a sip of her diet coke; she stopped herself from reading more into the others' memories.

It wasn't what Skyala had expected and neither did she expect it from this person. Skyala snuck a glance at Dawn before mentally sending a message to her fellow aura guardians.

"Keep an eye on Dawn, something is going to happen to her soon. I can feel it." Said Skyala, through telepathy.

None of the others responded to Skyala's sudden request, but Skyala could tell that they were shock by her request. Skyala had to explain to the others what she saw and how important it was.

"We should be getting back, we want to be rested and energised for tomorrow." Spoke Kenny.

"Let's all do our best tomorrow!" Agreed Ash.

The ten students parted ways and returned to their respective dorms. Skyala sat on her bed and the others surrounded her.

"What did you mean when we had to keep an eye on Dawn?" Asked May.

Skyala bit her lip, "I read into their memories earlier and something happened to Dawn when she was younger and I can feel that it's going to happen again."

"What happened?" Asked Misty.

Skyala sighed and concentrated her powers to show a mental image to the others. It was much easier than explaining. Skyala heard gasps and she knew that they were as shocked as she was earlier.

"Now I see why you asked us to keep an eye on her." Mused Lyra.

Kenny nodded, "I wonder if they know about this?"

"Ethan might know since he is her brother after all but I'm not sure about the others." Said Lyra.

"We have to keep an eye on her at all times, otherwise what we saw earlier will happen again." Said Skyala.

"I'll get going, but I'll keep an eye out on the guys to see if they know anything." Said Kenny.

Kenny got up and left the room while the other girls went to shower. Skyala lay on her bed worried, Dawn was their priority now and the others probably didn't even know what would be coming. Skyala mentally prayed that everything would be alright.

What do you think Skyala saw about Dawn? I already have it planned out but it would be good to have a few ideas. Please review!
