A/N. Um, so this is the result of listening to Lullabye for a Stormy Night too many times...I love it though, it makes me wish I had never grown up :( so, this is some FACE family fluff to cure my angst. Enjoy!
Francis loved watching Arthur tuck Alfred and Matthew into bed. It was one of the few times when he was unguarded, and there was nothing either of them loved more than to see the delight on the boy's faces when they head a new story, though Francis preferred the comfort of the old ones.
He smiled softly, peering in and watching their faces as Arthur animatedly told some new story of his own invention. For the first bit, Alfred would jump up and down on the bed, trying to add to the tale, but Matthew would stay cuddled close to Arthur, falling asleep quickly. Often, Arthur would fall asleep, too, and Francis always regretted waking him. It was adorable, he thought, the three of them sleeping, sweet and innocent. The boys were a handful, but neither of them ever regretted the adoptions. They had gotten Matthew first, almost exactly a year before Alfred, who proved to be much more energetic.
Tonight, they both fell asleep sometime during the second story, and Arthur spent a moment gazing lovingly at their sleeping faces before kissing them both once more and tucking the blanket around them. He then stepped over to Francis, who was still leaning against the doorway, and murmured, "How long have you been here?"
Francis smiled and kissed the top of his head. "I've been living here for 5 years, and we've been married 2 of them, cher. You're even more forgetful than I thought."
Arthur pouted. "That's not what I meant."
"Je sais." Francis replied, wrapping an arm around his waist. "Come on, or we'll wake the boys with our needless discussion."
Arthur yawned. "'Kay" he muttered sleepily, wrapping his arms around Francis and closing his eyes and he was led back to their bedroom. Francis smiled.
"You know, you're just as cute as they are."
Arthur blushed and objected, of course, but allowed himself a smile when Francis tucked the Brit into bed beside him and kissed his forehead, murmuring,
"Bonne nuit, mon amour."
