~ Chapter III ~

I had awoken this morning, doing my regular morning routine. Brush my teeth, tame my hair, wash my face, eat breakfast, drink my green tea while admiring the view I had before I began to get ready for the party I was invited to. I still couldn`t put my finger on why they choose to invite me, a total stranger, but I thought I might as well. I mean, I had nothing else better to do and I could be able to make some new friends.

Putting on a cropped grey sweater, some jeans, my infinity ring and some Tim boots, I placed my hair in a half up, half down style before checking my appearance in the mirror with a slight huff. I had made sure to cover my dark circles with some concealer, making my make up look as natural as possible. God, knew how much sleep I was getting nightly by that she-devil herself.

Looking at the time that read 3:47 p.m., I thought it would be an appropriate time to get moving seeing they hadn`t gave me a time to arrive at all. Throwing on a jacket and shoving my phone in my pocket, I set out into my car and puffed out my cheeks.

Driving off to La Push`s side, I listened to the radio that helped distract my thoughts. It wasn`t long before I arrived. From the distance I could see a large group of people in the snowy sand enjoying themselves as they surrounded themselves with smoke. A bonfire, I presume. Pulling over, I snatched the keys out of the engine and tried to relax myself a bit.

I was here to have a fresh start in life. I wasn`t going to let that witch and her father ruin it for me. In the next few months, I`ll be free and wouldn`t have to worry about them anymore. Maybe these could actually be a set of real, normal friends I could have. I will have fun tonight and stay free from the supernatural shit. I didn`t need it.

I jumped slightly when I heard a thump come from my window. Turning my head to see the guy who was giving me those weird looks from yesterday, I opened the door and hopped out. "Eh, did I scare you?" I narrowed my eyes at his innocent and sheepish grin. I saw he had been dressed appropriately today. He wore a sweatshirt with a jacket over it along with some jeans and boot. If I was going to be honest, he looked fairly attractive.

"Mhm, did you think about scaring me before you knocked on my window?" While asking him this, I closed the car door behind me and locked my doors before hooking my keys to the belt loop.

Embry chuckled slightly as he shoved his hands in his back pocket and lead me to the rest of the group. "Well…no, but you had this far away look in your eyes…I wanted to know what you were thinking about."

Pursing my lips as I glanced at him, "Why do you want to know?"

"You were smiling."

Had I really? I didn`t know that. The thought of being my own person without babysitting Adrianna made me happy. Turning my gaze the the man, I shook my head. "Ah, just happy for my birthday."

This causes Embry to pause briefly before resuming. "Oh? When is it?" He looked a tad bit anxious and I wasn`t going to lie, it caused a blush to spread onto my cheeks. I always spent my birthday alone and no one to celebrate it with since it pained me every year. But, I had to be at my strongest this time if I want to get Adrianna and her dad off my back. I knew it wasn`t going to be easy, so I had to prepare myself.

"April 15th." I declare as I walked steadily on some ice, not wanting to slip and fall. I can tell just by looking at Embry from the corner of my eyes that he was watching intensely as well, wanting to catch me if I fell.

Hearing the music and the chattering get louder, I averted my eyes forward at the group of men and women, All sharing the common features of tan skin and dark eyes except for one. A petite girl with bronze locks and dark eyes. She was the first to notice me as she smiles brightly. Standing from one of the guy`s lap, she approaches me. This causes everyone else to avert their attention towards me.

I didn`t expect to get these many stares. Do people care that much? I bet this was a private party and I was crashing it.

I was immediately snapped out of my thoughts when the girl began to speak to me. "Hi! My name is Renesmee, but you can call me Nessie." She had spoken bubbly. I liked her spirit, it gave off good vibes.

Exchanging her smile, I not only introduce myself to her, but the rest of the crew. "I`m Naomi."

"Naomi.." She murmurs underneath her breath. "I haven`t seen you around here…are you new?"

I heard a deep chuckle as Paul approached us. "Nessie, chill. You can`t just bomb her with questions like that." The small, brunette pouted as a growl was heard. I furrowed my eyes when snickering had been heard.

Shaking my head, I answered Nessie`s question. "I am. I moved here from Arizona." Nodding at my answer, I turned back to Embry who had a smile on his face. He began to introduce his friends to me as I learnt all of their names. Although I didn`t show it, I was curious about the scars on Emily`s face. I was told a bear had mauled her, but the print was larger than any average bear, but I decided to let it slide. I didn`t want to be on anyone`s bad side. I just wanted friends and to be normal.

I looked at the other girls, all of them seemingly bundled up with their partner. I then tilted my head at one of the tall ones that kept a scrawl on her face. Turning my head quickly, I puffed out my cheeks as I felt her heated stare on my back. I was told that her name was Leah and to just stay clear from her. I don`t know what I did for her to already dislike me. I only just got here after all. Turning my attention back to Embry, I noticed he had been smiling at me for...well, I don`t really know to be honest. It was sweet and all, but it`s actually getting a bit too creepy. I gave him a small, smile back before I heard my name being called. Snapping my head to one of the members I believe named was Seth, I took notice in his wife, friendly smile that highlighted his dimples. "Why did you decide to move here?"

I bot my lip as i saw their attention turn to me once more, curious about the answer I was going to give. "Um, well..." I didn`t know exactly what to say. I couldn`t necessarily tell them the truth about my whole past...but then again, I didn`t want to lie to them. They seemed really nice and I actually want friends this time. Rubbing my arm, I saw Embry move closer to me as if i was cold...Which I wasn`t, but I won`t lie. I did enjoy the heat he was providing. "i needed a change of scenery, you know? Somewhere to be free." The answer wasn`t a complete lie as it was true, i just happened to skip pass all the supernatural things.

"Eh, something happened back home?" Embry asked with a worried face.

I simply shrugged. "Something like that, but it`ll pass soon. Promise."
