Hey
Let me start off this note by saying thank you to everyone who is reading this. I constantly find myself second guessing because when I started off this story I didn't see MO. I was more of an EO person to be honest. I did this story as a fanfic challenge. I said if I did the challenge I would try my best to be true to who both Melinda and Olivia are as characters and still find a way to bring them together.
In order to do this, I decided to go back and watch SVU and look for hints here and there to see if there is actually a possible connection….
After watching these episodes and looking for little subtle hints here and there, I have to say I…I get it. I get it like I've never gotten it before and I am surprised that more people haven't picked up on this as well. They have a way of being there for each other when they need it most. Without the fanfare and the hoopla they just mesh. I have sooo many stories planned for these two but my first goal is to finish this one.
Hope you all enjoy : )
Need You Now Chapter 12
The constant intrusion of the buzzing alarm filled the room causing Olivia to stir in her sleep. She attempted to turn off the alarm however, her arm was weighted down. It was in that moment that Olivia realized where she was and who she was with.
Slowly she slid her arm from under the sleeping beauty and turned off the deafening sound.
"How the hell can you sleep through that?" she whispered softly to her bedmate.
"You can't" Melinda said revealing to the detective that she was awake.
Olivia turned on the bedside lamp and smiled as Melinda nuzzled Olivia's neck trying to block her eyes from the light.
"I take it you're not a morning person doc," Olivia said with a hint of laughter in her voice.
"Normally I am but I'd give anything to be able to stay in this bed for the rest of the day." Melinda said voice still husky from sleep.
The smile on Olivia's face faded as she realized she would give anything for the same thing.
"I need to take a shower," she said suddenly removing herself from the sheets.
"Liv what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just have to hurry so I'm not late."
"Okay" Melinda said getting up to get dressed.
"I'm sorry" Olivia said softly.
"Its fine" Melinda replied as she pulled her jeans up her legs.
"No it's not."
"Olivia what do you want from me?"
"I don't know. I don't know anything anymore." Olivia said as she sat on the bed and put her head in her hands feeling a headache coming on.
"Maybe I should just give you space to figure things out," Melinda said even though the last thing she wanted to give her was space.
"Okay" Olivia's lips said as her brain screamed NO. She didn't want space. She wanted the exact opposite of space. She wanted weekend picnics in the park and quiet evenings on the couch watching reruns. She wanted romantic dinners and loving nights.
She wanted everything she never wanted before and it scared the shit out of her.
"Have a good day" Melinda said breaking Olivia free from her thoughts.
Olivia got up and went to the woman. She placed a soft kiss on her lips and prayed that it said what she needed to say without saying too much of anything.
Without another word Melinda left leaving Olivia to her thoughts.

"PUT YOUR GUN DOWN" Olivia yelled at the bald man with the spider Tattoo on his head holding a gun to Amanda's temple.
"Fuck you bitch. If I die, she dies" he yelled to Olivia.
"It's three to one with backup on the way jackass. You really think you're going to win with those odds?" Fin asked trying to reason with the guy.
"Just shoot the bastard already," Amanda yelled trying not to reveal her fear in the dire situation.
"SHUT UP!" the madman yelled again.
Detective Amaro waited from behind looking for an angle to take the shot.
Just as he aligned the shot and pulled the trigger, detective Rollins elbowed the guy in his groin causing him to kneel over in pain.
Instead of Nick's bullet landing at its intended target, it hit Amanda in the back of her shoulder causing her to hit the ground as well.
It was at this moment that other units arrived to the scene.
"Call a bus," Olivia called out as Fin cuffed the assailant.
She looked at Amanda who held onto her shoulder in pain but appeared to be okay.
The opening on the front of Amanda's shirt let Olivia know that the bullet had exited the young blonde's body.
"I can't believe you shot me you jackass"
"I can't believe you picked that moment to decide to be super woman. Gosh Rollins can't you just let us do our jobs sometimes."
"Enough" Olivia yelled. The young pair bickering took her back to many days on the job with Elliot.

Olivia and Fin sat at a booth in the cop filled bar both filling up on drinks. Olivia for her part was downing Patron while Fin drank Rum and coke.
"I'm getting to old for this shit man" Fin said to his friend.
"Who are you telling? Every day I say I can do it then some shit like this happens and I'm wondering why I'm still here," Olivia said revealing something in her slightly drunken state that she may not have revealed otherwise.
"When you find the answer to that let me know," Fin said feeling his own buzz coming on. "That could have been…"
"Yeah I know," Olivia said before Fin could finish. She didn't even want to think about what could have happened to Amanda had the bullet been a few more centimeters to the right.
"Split a cab?" Fin asked.
"Sure" Olivia said grabbing her coat to leave. Here it was only 9:30 at night and all Olivia wanted was a hot shower and her bed.
MOMOMOMOMOMOMOMOMOMOMOMO
Olivia lay in her bed trying hard to sleep. Her mind would rewind to different situations on the job. Two situations played in her mind over and over again.
One was seven years ago, being in a warehouse similar to the one they were in tonight with another of many assholes this one with a gun to Elliot's head. Her mind racing to the thoughts that ran through her mind that night verses the thoughts that ran through her head tonight. The situation had been just as dire yet Olivia wasn't as intense now as she was then.
'Maybe I'm losing it' she said to herself. She knew it was a lie. Her intensity seven years ago had more to do with Elliot than it ever did Gitano.
She knew that some of her passion for the job left the day Elliot Stabler did.
Every time she wondered why she was still there, her answer was always the same. She was there for the victims. They were what motivated her to get out of her bed every single day and continue to fight this fight.
The other situation that was on her mind was one of the scariest. Her mind went to the ME's office and watching as Melinda laid on the floor after having been shot by a woman unable to come to grips with the death of her child.
Olivia couldn't recall a time when she was ever more frightened. She heard Melinda's instructions as if she were still in that room telling Olivia the steps she needed to save the doctor's life.
Olivia wondered if that was the day she realized what Melinda meant to her. That day the fear of losing her friend seemed almost paralyzing to her.
'Oh God I could have lost her before I even had her' Olivia let out a soft sob.
The urge to call the woman suddenly overtook Olivia and after three weeks of keeping her distance Olivia finally gave in to the desire to text her.
I need you- Liv
On my way- Mel

"I heard about what happened tonight. Is everyone okay?" Melinda asked taking a seat on Olivia's sofa.
"As okay as they can be. Just shaken up a bit" Olivia said coming to sit next to the woman with two cups of tea in hand.
The time was now 11:07 pm and Olivia as tired as she was, couldn't see sleep coming in the near future.
"And you?" Melinda asked taking note of the detective's use of the word "They" as opposed to "We".
"Honestly, I'm tired." Olivia said. "I couldn't sleep. I just kept thinking about Elliot and you."
"Why me?" Melinda asked confused.
"I thought back to when Sophie Gerard shot you." Olivia said while putting her head down trying to will away the memory.
"You mean when you saved my life?"
"I didn't save your life Mel. You saved your own life by being the amazing doctor that you are. I just followed your instructions."
"Olivia you can try to downplay it if you want but you and I both know that I would have died on the floor had it not been for you."
"Well you've saved me from myself plenty of times so I'm guessing I owed you one."
"That's true." Melinda smiled.
Olivia smirked.
"I'm sorry for calling you over this late Mel. I think I just had to see your face; to be able to touch you and know that you're okay."
"I'm okay Liv and so are you."
"I'm far from okay. I don't know if I'm coming or going anymore."
"Why is that?"
"I think I'm falling for you." Olivia said just wanting to finally get it out there. She was tired of hiding it and tired of Melinda leaving her apartment feeling anything less than wanted. The truth of the matter was Olivia wanted Mel. She wanted her in every way possible but she didn't know what that meant.
"Wow" was all Melinda managed.
"I'm sorry Mel. I just needed to say it."
"Why the change?" Melinda asked confused. She wanted to be sure that Olivia wasn't just reacting to the crazy day she had.
"It's not a change. I've known probably for a while but I wasn't willing to admit it." Olivia responded honestly.
"Maybe you should get some rest."
"Will you stay with me?" Olivia asked. She hoped that having Melinda there with her and knowing she was okay would help her to sleep better.
"Sure." Melinda stood up and took Olivia's hand leading her to the bedroom.
Olivia went into her drawer and found an oversized T-shirt for the doctor to sleep in.
Once they were both settled in the bed, Olivia turned off her lamp and placed an arm around Melinda.
"Good night Mel"
"Night Liv"
Olivia felt better about Mel's safety but she wasn't sure what to think about the fact that Melinda didn't respond to her admission. Part of her regretted it but another part knew that the woman deserved the truth. 'To hell with this whole confusing ass situation' Olivia thought before closing her eyes and succumbing to sleep.
