Chapter ten
"That makes 1200¥", the cashier to a customer at the convenience store. Tsuna stood at the finished product section and stared at the sandwiches. He was really hungry but he didn't want to spend money on simple things. Tsuna gulped and walked around pretending he was still looking.
Tsuna turned up the hood of his jacket, facing the camera of this shop with his back. Okay. He could do it. He was fast with his legs. He grabbed one package of sandwiches and hid it in his jacket. He pulled the hood deeper in his face and walked pass the check-out. "Excuse me", he heard the cashier called for him. Tsuna stopped. He got nervous. "You dropped something." The woman behind the check-out smiled at him but Tsuna kept his head down and looked behind him. He dropped a piece of paper. There was Mukuro's number on it.
Quickly he picked it up as a door suddenly opened. "Oi!", a tall man shouted at Tsuna. "Give it back!" Tsuna grabbed the paper and turned around to run out of the store. "Oi! Wait! Stop!" the man shouted and ran after him – but Tsuna was much faster.
He ran and ran and stopped as he felt safe. He sighed and went through a park. He rubbed his eyes, feeling suddenly so tired. He hadn't slept for days. He was still looking for Hibari but he just couldn't find him. Tsuna was really worried. He laid his hand on his growling stomach and closed his eyes. So tired and hungry….
Suddenly Tsuna bumped into someone. He felt all his muscles weak and fell on the floor.
"O-Oi! Are you okay? Oi!", Tsuna could hear the person scream. "Oh god! Spanner! Help me!"

….
Two years and one month ago: December
"Oh! Look at the snow! It snows! Hibari-san, look!" Tsuna was obvious excited to see the snow. It was the 20th December. Four days left till Christmas Eve!
They were at Hibari's house and while Hibari read a book Tsuna stared out of the window. Hibari looked up to Tsuna and smiled a bit seeing Tsuna being so excited. "C'mon, let's go outside, Hibari-san!" Tsuna turned around and looked to him. "Hmpf, why?" , Hibari asked and looked back into his literature. "Because it snows!" Tsuna crawled to him and looked to Hibari.
Hibari sighed and closed his book. "I couldn't care less. It isn't the first time", Hibari said. "But-" "No. Let's stay at home. We can enjoy the snow when there's more of it." Hibari raised his hand and stroke over Tsuna's soft cheeks. "Hm… okay. Promised!" Tsuna said and smiled at him. The raven haired boy sighed. "Promised."
"Hehe", Tsuna chuckled. Hibari rolled his eyes and bent down to kiss Tsuna. Tsuna closed his eyes and leaned in to the kiss. He felt Hibari's hands on his cheeks He was pushed back but still was kissed by Hibari. Hibari's hands wandered down to his body, touching his chest.
Hibari stroke with his tongue over Tsuna's lips and forced his way in giving him a passionate kiss. As always Tsuna shuddered when Hibari kissed him. He felt that he blushed. He still hadn't got used to being kissed so passionately.
A moan forced his way out of Tsuna's mouth as Hibari's hand wandered under his shirt and touched his nipples. Hibari smirked. "Still so sensitive here…"
"Y-your fault", Tsuna stuttered and squeaked as Hibari began to play with them. "Well, you like it so of course I keep doing it", Hibari smirked and kissed his chin.
Slowly he undressed Tsuna, revealing the soft skin. Tsuna's skin was so soft and sensitive. Just like the skin of a baby. He bit Tsuna's delicious neck that always made Tsuna gasped and sucked the skin until it turned red. Turned on Hibari removed also Tsuna's pants and kissed him again.
"Hi-Hibari-san…l-let's… let's move to the bed", Tsuna gasped and looked into the gray eyes. "No", Hibari answered. "Don't want to move." He kissed Tsuna again. "But it's hard… on the floor", Tsuna protested but it got swallowed by Hibari's kisses. For protesting Tsuna got punished by being bitten harshly on his lower lip.
Tsuna shrugged. "Ouch! That hurts!" Hibari smirked. That was the intention.
So they ended up doing it on the floor. Tsuna was so exhausted that he fell asleep right after they finished – after several rounds, of course. Hibari was a greedy one.
21st Decemter
"You're so mean", Tsuna wailed at Hibari the next day in school. "You could've at least wake me up."
Hibari sighed. "Stop complaining. The school's starting in a bit." He glared at Tsuna. Tsuna pouted. "Okay. See you later!" Tsuna turned around as he felt Hibari grabbing his arm. He looked at him and seconds later he felt his lips on his own.
"See you at lunch time", Hibari said smirking and let off of Tsuna.
The brunet pouted and ran out of the room. It was still a little frustrating that Hibari was so … determined. But that was Hibari and he loved him anyway.
Pouting but carefree he walked to his classroom. If he just knew that something evil will crawl up…
Flashback End
As he opened his eyes a white ceiling "smiled" at him. It was a little bright and it seemed to be morning. Tsuna blinked and rubbed his eyes. "What…"
"Oh. You're awake!" Tsuna sat immediately up as he heard the voice. A little too fast because he felt dizzy. "Oh, are you alright?" The person asked and Tsuna blinked, looked to the person. He got orange hair and pair of glasses.
"…"
"Eh… you fainted as we dumped into each other, remember?"
"…yeah…"
"I … this is my room. It's the next morning. Are you feeling better?"
"Yeah. Thanks… who…?"
"Ah. I'm Shouichi. Shouichi Irie! Nice to meet you?"
Tsuna smiled a little and relaxed. This one could be trusted. "I'm Sawada Tsunayoshi. C-call me Tsuna!" he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you, too."
Irie smiled back and rubbed his arm. "So… do you want to eat? I've made breakfast and there's still some food left…"
As if his stomach could hear it began to growl. Tsuna blushed embarrassed. "Haha, it's fine. Come." The brunet stood up and walked behind Irie. The kitchen was small and neat. Somehow he excepted it so.
Tsuna sat down silently on a chair and thanked Irie who offered him breakfast. It was his first meal for days. He really felt better after he finished.
"Thanks, Irie-san", Tsuna said and smiled at him. Irie nodded and scratched his head. "Yeah, no problem", Irie said.
They were silent for a while. It was really awkward. Suddenly Irie raised his voice. "Eh…you-you talked in your sleep…" Tsuna shrugged. "I- I did?!" Embarrassed he looked down. "Yeah…but you … you seemed desperate. I mean… you mentioned Hibari-san? I mean… if you have any problems-"
"Hibari-san!" Tsuna jumped up. "I'm- I'm sorry! I have to go!" Tsuna said and stormed to the door. "Ah! Wait! What?" Irie followed Tsuna.
Tsuna slipped into his shoes and turned to Irie. He bent deep down in front of Irie. "I'm really grateful that you helped but I had to go-"
"Tsuna, I met Hibari-san!"
Two years and one month ago: 21st December
It was during class as it happened. There was a loud sound coming from somewhere. Like an explosion. Tsuna could hear screams of students and breaking glasses. "Oh my god, what happened?" Tsuna's classmates ran out to the floor to look where it came from.
Then there was another explosion. The screams of the students were heard everywhere. Tsuna's hear skipped for a while before he ran off. No one noticed.
He ran upstairs to the reception room, pulled the door open. "Hibari-san?!"
Tsuna gasped. The window was broken, pieces of paper flattered all over the room. Tsuna entered it and looked around. "Hi…Hibari-san?" He stopped as he looked at the floor, standing of a piece of paper soaked in blood. A terrified shiver ran down his spine.
"Sawada-san?!" Tsuna turned around. He was pale like a bed sheet. "What-" "Where's Hibari-san?" Tsuna shouted at Kusakabe, who had entered the room. "Where?"
"I-I don't know. I was looking for him…" Tsuna rushed out. He ran through the corridor and ran downstairs. He followed his intuition to find Hibari. It was like this since he first met Hibari. I could easily spot or find him. Tsuna left the school building and saw dark smoke coming from the school. What the hell happened?! Hibari might be there but his intuition told him otherwise. So Tsuna left the school ground.
The ground was wet and muddy from the snow. But Tsuna couldn't care less. He left the school ground and ran along the street.
Suddenly he heard some ruckus at a park nearby. And there he sensed Hibari. Tsuna ran towards it. He slowed down and saw Hibari fighting with a man with mint colored long hair. Tsuna wanted to scream for Hibari but that would distract him. So Tsuna kept silent. But he had to do something.
Suddenly something flew towards Tsuna that he screamed out and evaded it quickly. "Herbivore!" he heard Hibari shouted. Tsuna looked up and saw Hibari running towards him. "What are you doing here?" Tsuna was quite relieve but as he saw Hibari bleeding he immediately got worried. "Hibari-san, you're bleeding!" "Doesn't matter right now", he growled and turned around to look at his opponent.
"O-ho", the mint colored man said and grinned at them. "You are surprisingly attached to that little boy, huh?" He laughed. Hibari growled. "Shut up, herbivore. I'll bite you to death!"
The man chuckled as a girl with light blue hair ran towards him. "Kikyo! He calls us back!" "O-ho? Why?", the man called Kikyo asked. The girl seemed to be pouting. "I don't know. Let's go back!" Kikyo turned towards Tsuna and Hibari. "Well, I have to retreat. But we will come again." Kikyo chuckled and left with the girl. Hibari wanted to run after him but Tsuna held him back. "Hibari-san, wait!"
Suddenly he felt a pierce glare on him. A cold shiver ran over his back. Tsuna looked around but couldn't see anyone. "I found him", he could hear a voice. Tsuna shuddered and grabbed Hibari's arm. "L-let's go back, Hibari-san. You're bleeding…" Tsuna looked up to him. Hibari snorted. He was really pissed and angry and Tsuna could understand that.
In the reception room Tsuna treated Hibari's wound. He was silent the whole time. "What happened?", Tsuna tried to ask. Hibari snorted.
"They attacked. I don't know. I'll go and look after the damages. Go to class, Tsunayoshi."
Tsuna's heart clenched for a second. He rarely called him by his name so it must be really … serious. He stood up and followed Hibari outside. But he couldn't follow him. Tsuna bit his lower lip.
What should he do? But he felt that wasn't the end of it…
Flashback End
Tsuna sat on the bed and stared out of the window. He didn't move and didn't say a word.
Spanner looked to Irie. "He is like this for over a hour", Irie said and looked to Spanner. "I told him that we met Hibari-san. He… looked so sad. What should we do?"
"Hm... we should wait", Spanner said then. "We can't force him."
Of course Tsuna could hear them. But he didn't care. What… Irie said to him irritated him.
"Hibari…. He knew that you would follow him. He told us so. And he knows that you are really good at tracking him down so that your way would lead you to us. He told us… to tell you that you should stop follow him. I don't know everything but he said… that you didn't have to do "it" for him anymore. He's sorry and he loves you… We… well I could tell."
Tsuna was so confused and irritated. He cried and then he sat there staring out at the window. He couldn't understand. Hibari needs him. He needs him to survive… Tsuna pulled his legs to his chest and wrapped his arms around them, hiding his face in his knees. Why, Hibari? I love you.
Two years and one month ago: 23rd December and onwards
Since the 21st December a group of adults kept attacking the city. Hibari was furious and was busy to protect his beloved city. He hated disorders. He wanted to bite them all to death. Tsuna couldn't do much. Well, he could but Hibari wasn't letting him.
Tsuna knew now that they were looking for something or someone. On this day Tsuna decided to go to Hibari's house even though Hibari forbid him to go there. But…Tsuna was worried.
On his way he saw a man standing at the opposite side of the street and stared at Tsuna. Tsuna felt unwell about it and tried to walk faster as the man suddenly stood in front of him.
Tsuna screamed and stepped back. "I-I…" he stuttered and looked at him. The man hat spiked white hair and a violet tattoo on his eyes or something like that. Tsuna gulped. The aura of this man was really dangerous. He smirked at him. "Hello, little boy", he said in an amused tone.
"You look really interesting. Don't you want to join me?" the man said and bent down to him.
Tsuna stepped back and frowned. "Join w-what?", he asked. "My group. The Millefiore. You" – the man pointed at his chest – "have a really strong power inside you and you know it. Why not use it?" He smirked and it seemed really … evil.
"Wh-what?" Tsuna stuttered. "A-are you… belonging to the group that keeps attacking our city?"
The man smiled. "Yes. I'm Byakuran. The leader of that group."
Tsuna gasped and widened his eyes. What… why was he… "I noticed the other day that… you aren't just some weak human. Join us and-"
"Never!" Tsuna shouted. "I will not join your stupid group! I don't even know why I should! Leave me alone!" He ran passed Byakuran as he heard him saying something.
"I'm looking for someone. Someone who can stop…"
The rest Tsuna didn't hear anymore. He ran through the street and arrived at Hibari's house. Before he could rang the bell Hibari was before him. "I told you not to come", he said annoyed. Tsuna gasped. "But… I was worried! You can't worry me so much!" Hibari snorted and let Tsuna in anyway.
"Are you okay?" Tsuna asked as he was in the house. "Yes, of course. I'm fine."
Hibari put his hand on his arm and pulled him in his arms. Tsuna wrapped his arms around Hibari's torso and placed his head on his chest. He heard his heartbeat. It was very calming. He felt Hibari's hand in his hair. Tsuna sighed. He felt as if he didn't see Hibari for so long. And maybe he shouldn't talk yet about Byakuran…
Hibari kissed Tsuna's forehead and looked at the clock. "I have to go. Go home and stay. It's dangerous outside." Hibari was very serious but Tsuna sighed. "I want to help." "You can't do much. Go home. Now." Hibari glared at Tsuna. Tsuna pressed his lips together and went on his toes to kiss the soft lips of Hibari. "Stay save, Hibari-san."
If he knew back then what would happen… he would have insist that Hibari should stay with him…
Flashback End
It was dark outside and Irie and Spanner went to sleep. But Tsuna couldn't. He looked at the clock and got up. Tsuna left the room and slipped into his shoes and his jacket.
"Tsuna", he heard Irie's voice. Tsuna looked to him. "I'm sorry, Irie. And thank you very much for your help", Tsuna said and bowed. "But… even if Hibari-san told you I shouldn't follow him. I have to." He smiled at the orange haired man. Irie sighed. "Please take care", Irie said and got a small smile from Tsuna.
And then he left. Irie looked to Spanner who appeared next to him, wrapping his arms around Irie's waist. "It's going to be okay", he said to Irie. "They both seem to care for each other. They will make it." Spanner kissed the place behind Irie's ear. Irie sighed. "Yes. I hope so."
…
…
It was hard to breathe. It was like something heavy lay on his chest. His body hurt and he felt weak on his legs. Damn it. Hibari leaned against the wall and tried to breathe. So humiliating…
Hibari clenched his fist and closed his eyes. Tsuna… did he already met with Irie and Spanner? But he didn't believe that Tsuna would stop searching for him. Deep inside of him he hope that he kept following him but… Hibari sighed. It was getting harder and harder to breathe… He needed it… as soon as possible…
Two years and one month ago: 24th December: The day it happened.
Almost evening, Tsuna was at Hibari's house. Even though Hibari forbid him he still came, waiting for Hibari to come back. He stared out of the window and thought about things. Things like Byakuran and his offer. What… was he searching for? Maybe he should've told Hibari about him.
Tsuna sighed and stood up. He was hungry and maybe Hibari had something to eat. But there wasn't anything to eat. So he decided to go to the convenient store.
He should be at his house to celebrate with them Christmas Eve but he didn't feel like celebrating. He was too worried.
He left the convenient store with a bag in his hand, walking back to Hibari's house as a store behind him exploded. Tsuna shrugged and turned around. He coughed because he breathed smoke in. "Oh my god!" Tsuna ran towards the store. "What…"
He saw a person walking out of the store. But he didn't seem injured. He had red hair and dark eyes. He was wearing a black coat…
"What…" Tsuna gasped and stepped back. Other people panicked around him but Tsuna couldn't do anything but stare at him. He… felt Byakuran's present on this person.
He was one of the group. "Tch. What are you staring, kiddo?" he asked annoyed and bent down to him. "… you are this boy", he suddenly said. Tsuna shrugged. "W-who?"
"This boy boss is interested in", he said and grinned. "Well, that's funny. If I bring you to him…"
"Don't make anything stupid, Zakuro."
A barely known voice was heard and Tsuna looked up. It was the mint haired man. Kikyo.
Kikyo stopped next to Zakuro, the man with red hair and grinned at Tsuna. "O-ho. We did meet before. With the boy with black hair. Furious was he because we had attacked the school." He chuckled and patted Zakuro's shoulder. "We don't need to bring him to Byakuran. He will go by himself."
A cruel and evil grin appeared on his lips. "Because this boy is with him."
Tsuna widened his eyes. "What… " "You know, little boy, your friend might be as strong as he think he is but… against Byakuran he is nothing as a mere … ant. He will be crushed. Sooner or later…"
The sky darkened… a thunder was heard right after the lightning. "O-ho. It rains", Kikyo looked up at the sky. "Byakuran will be happy. He likes rain. It makes him even more … creative."
Tsuna let go of the bag and began to run. He had to find Hibari. He … kind of knew that Kikyo wasn't lying. He could sense it. He had to find Hibari.
He was so thrilled… he was so scared… He hoped that Hibari was alright. He begged. He felt something strange in him. It was, as if he himself was in danger. But he wasn't.
Hibari!
Tsuna didn't care that it rained. He had to find Hibari. He ran to every possible place he could be fighting Byakuran. But he couldn't find him. He ran and ran and didn't stop running. Because he had to find Hibari first.
His lungs hurt and his legs felt weak but Tsuna forced himself to run. The sun was going down, turning the sky orange. And he still didn't find him.
He was about to cry. Well, he was already crying. He ran passed the people who seemed so careless…
So he ran outside the town. There, where fields were. Tsuna tensed. He could feel that Hibari was near. So he forced himself to run further.
And then he could see them.
Byakuran holding Hibari's neck as if he was strangling him. Tsuna's eyes widened.
His eyes turned orange and flames appeared on his forehead and his hands. He didn't run anymore he was now flying to them.
Attacking Byakuran and letting off of Hibari.
"You!" Tsuna shouted angrily and kicked him but missed.
Byakuran snorted but then he smirked. "I knew it. You ARE interesting!" Tsuna snorted and dodged an attack of Byakuran.
He hadn't time to fight with Byakuran… he had to look after Hibari! As Tsuna glanced to Hibari Byakuran used this moment to attack him. Tsuna couldn't react fast enough – he fell back and coughed.
"Pay attention", Byakuran said and raised his hands.
Tsuna gasped and closed his eyes as he heard as if metal collide with something. He opened his eyes and saw a tall boy in front of him with short blue hair… Mukuro!
"Mukuro!" Tsuna shouted. "I'll handle this. Look after Kyouya" Mukuro said and glared at Byakuran. Tsuna nodded and ran towards his boyfriend. "Hibari-san, are you okay?" Tsuna kneed down to him and touched his face. He looked pale and he could tell that he had difficulties with breathing.
"Oh no… Hibari-san! Oh god… what…" Tsuna panicked. "Sh-shut up", Hibari murmured and looked at Tsuna. "I- I'm not dead yet." Tsuna cried. "Don't say something like that!"
Hibari snorted and moaned. "What… what did you do?!" Tsuna shouted at Byakuran who fought with Mukuro. Byakuran stopped and stepped back. He smirked. "Oh, well… he was quite upsetting me. All I did was self-defense", Byakuran said.
"And… well. It's a curse, Sawada Tsunayoshi." A cold shiver ran down Tsuna's spine. Terrified he looked at Byakuran who stood there all self-conscious and arrogant.
The white haired man grinned and bent down a bit – he attacked Mukuro und kicked him in the stomach Mukuro wasn't able to dodge. He groaned and stepped back.
"What curse?!" Tsuna shouted and pressed Hibari in his arms. His whole body trembled. He was scared. He was really scared. Byakuran licked his lips.
"He can live as a normal human being further. But with one … hindrance, you could say."
Byakuran's eyes narrowed and his eyes turned ice cold. "Do you believe in spirits, Tsunayoshi?" The brunet opened his mouth but wasn't able to answer because Byakuran talked further.
"If a person dies the spirit leaves immediately the body. You could imagine it as a soul you can see or sense. It leaves the body. And if you don't do anything they will raise up and go to … anywhere. Heaven. Haunting people they hate or love. Whatever."
"And what has this thing with Hibari's curse to do?!" Tsuna desperately screamed at him.
Byakuran smirked. "Hibari will need this to survive. He has to take these spirits to live. I call it… eating, because you also get a feeling of hunger. But… he can't kill his prey himself. If he ever kill a person again… his one spirit will tear in pieces and he will die."
Tsuna clenched his hand into Hibari's shirt. His eyes widened in shock and horror. "And even as a spirit he will suffer thousand deaths. Over and over again. He will suffer…" Byakuran laughed.
"Haha, isn't this amazing?! What I can do? Spelling curses on others! This is so funny!"
Tsuna gasped and felt his warm tears rolling down his cheeks. "You … devil!", he shouted at Byakuran. His heart pulled together. He felt himself as if he can't breathe anymore.
Byakuran stopped laughing and looked seriously to him. "I think he's hungry. You should do something." He smirked. "And before I forget information… the younger his prey is the lesser he needs to eat. So if he gets the spirit of an infant…"
"You!" Mukuro growled at him and attacked him. But Byakuran dodged it easily and laughed. "Well. We will see us again. I'm sure. God bless you, my dears."
Tsuna looked down to Hibari, his tears dripped down on Hibari.
"Hibari-san…"
Flashback End.
