"…"

"…"

The chimes of fine china rang within the luscious halls of the privately owned Akira Mansion. Many an esteemed guest could be seen milling around the banquet hall, conversing with one another in high spirits. And – intermittently - all eyes rose to the magnificent chandelier that dangled at the halls epi-centre. Not one unimpressed eye could be seen, not one.

"What a magnificent party if I do say so myself…" A bourgeois fellow announced.

"I, the splendour and beauty of such an event. It makes you proud to be in such civilised company." The elderly lady elaborated, looking up at the decorations that lit up the walls and ceiling.

Yes, the inhabitants of this party were left feeling very impressed by the show put on for them. The spectacle allowed a wave of excitement to pass for each and every visitor. Although, whether this was due to the wine or the pleasant company many wouldn't say. Or, perhaps the reason was far simpler than that. Maybe the excitement was born from the amount of star studded guests which littered the room. Because, not matter where you looked, your eyes would always fall on someone of value; a famous actor, a politician or maybe even the head of an important and prominent company. And if the guests didn't take your fancy then the gorgeous models who provided drinks for the evening would certainly whet your appetite.

But there was one man within this sea of celebrities who stood out amongst the rest. One man whose presence and power dwarfed that of all the other guests who regarded him over in awe. The man in question had proven to be a very influential man, both in the media and abroad where Japan held no jurisdiction. He was known by his friends and associates as simply Akuma and he was the star attraction for this particular party.

Akuma. An approachable and diligent man who had an undeniable knack for concluding business transactions with one mention of his name. No matter how unlikely the deal seemed at the time. It was a name that, to some, brought happiness and admiration, while to others it brought fear and suicidal tendencies.

But he is not the reason why we are here… oh, no. Our attention rests on a young, beautiful women who stood away from the sea of guests. The woman in question sipped her champagne slowly, keeping an eye on the occupants of the party with mild interest.

Despite her best attempts of appearing inconspicuous the strawberry blonde had managed to catch the eye of all in the party. In fact, those eyes had been set on her since she had entered the main hall, not that the woman cared though. She gave little mind to the stares that followed her every move.

None of them. Not a single damn one of them stood a chance with her. She was taken, not officially but she knew this in her heart. Although she had often tried to make their relationship 'official' despite the complaints she received from her boyfriend. And damn it he was her boyfriend no matter what he said to the contrary.

'How could he say we aren't lovers…?'

'He won't even see me as his girlfriend but I know we are meant to be…'

Placing her champagne glass on the glass table, Kirino stepped away from the refreshments and began to circle the crowd. She ignored the leering eyes and the heavy breathing which seemed to follow her every movement. An unfortunate side effect of being uniquely attractive but on this occasion it was absolutely necessary, she knew who she was dealing with after all.

As Kirino passed the refreshments once more, a group of rambunctious boys staggered up to her sniggering as they offered her less than courteous glances.

Disgusting…

"Hey, beautiful…" One man, barely older than herself, offered in a way of greeting, slurring his words as he looked Kirino up and down.

"Could we offer you a drink, my-lady? Maybe five come to think of it." Another interjected, the silence and Kirino's non-committal nature plain to see to the more than wasted group who clung to each other in support.

"For god sake man you're being to prude. You have no class," The man said separating himself from the pack to step closer to Kirino. "Hello miss, my name is Reika and it is with great sincerity that I say this. You are the most beautiful, breath-taking sight I have ever seen in my life. Now please don't feel too embarrassed when I say this but would you do me the honour of a dance?"

The man's entire ensemble screamed 'refuse sex on the first date and we'll never see each other again' and Kirino had no plans to further entertain this fellow. How he thought he could even hope to match up to the man she loved was beyond her? There was no replacement. She didn't take second best, or in this case, 1000th best, she only took the best. Kirino had standards and only her 'boyfriend' could match them.

'Or, more like exceed them…'

"Miss," The man drawled, smiling while his eyes fluttered drunkenly. "How about that dance?"

"No, just… no." Kirino bit back, sighing in frustration at her luck while she checked the large clock again.

'He said he'd be back soon…'

'Don't leave me with these perverts…'

'Baka…'

"So," The humiliated man said completely unabated by the previous rejection. "Playing hard to get I see, I like a challenge and believe me when I say I always end up mounting my challenge."

"…"

If this man was trying to be flirtatious then he was doing an incredibly poor job and it took what little energy Kirino had left not to retch right in front of him. Although, come to think of it, that might just send him and his hapless goons running to the hills. Or, wait! Better yet, how about the routine kick to the balls which had worked on many people in the past who had approached her with sexual intent.

Rubbing her forehead, Kirino closed her eyes in the hopes that the men would be gone once she opened them. She was left feeling disgruntled when the men appeared before her once again. Could they not take a hint?

This wasn't unexpected of course, Kirino often faced this level of attention when she left the safety of her house. Maybe this was why she preferred staying at home with her aniki? She wouldn't have minded the attentive looks if her aniki was giving them to her.

Of course, high class parties were the worst when it came to socialising in public. The continued ass kissing, words of praise hidden within condescending words and the fabricated comparisons to their own plight which in their minds seemed to supersede the lower and working classes. Only the rich could complain about how little they have while attending such high class parties where the poor are prohibited from entering.

"I don't think she likes you mate, better step aside and allow us gentlemen the privilege…" another testosterone filled teenager stated, almost falling off the man he clung to.

This really was getting ridiculous.

'Where the hell are you…?'

"Come on, speak up. Don't be shy little kitten, we won't bite… Well maybe a…"

"You know what, stop right there," Kirino interrupted, knowing full well where the boy was going with his slimy speech. ", before you say another word please take my advice."

"Alright and what would such a ravenous young woman such as yourself ask of five handsome young gentlemen?"

Sniggering amongst one another as they thought up the same idea, Kirino rolled her eyes. She had had enough of this and she was going to make them understand this. Hopefully their lack of a brain wouldn't interfere with her plans.

'What could I ask of 'five gentlemen'…?'

'Isn't it obvious?'

"To turn around and walk away. In fact, turn around and never stop walking. If you happen to see an obstacles in your way please feel free to walk around it but for the love of god never; and I repeat never stop walking…" Kirino replied sipping on her champagne glass as a way of signalling the end of this conversation.

"Oh, she's got some spunk. I like that in a girl…" The flushed leader sprouted deliriously, taking it upon himself to walk closer to Kirino…

"Kirino,"

Acknowledging the voice, Kirino squealed in delight before turning around towards the lone figure. Now this was a man, Kirino thought. Unlike these hideous men, her 'boyfriend' was a true gentlemen. And, she couldn't have been happier to seem him.

As the man walked closer to Kirino, the group of boys began to glare daggers at him. Who the hell was this prick? How does he know this girl?

Kyousuke took no notice of them, however, and purposely stood in front of his sister, blocking the groups view.

"Is there a problem?" Kyousuke asked, facing Kirino and regarding her as if she was somehow at fault for attracting the group of men who now whispered amongst one another. There was even talk of a fight being mentioned between them, despite not being able to stand on their own two feet.

"No."

"Then come on, we have to go…"

Without another word Kyousuke took Kirino's hand and led her towards the other side of the hall. He didn't even acknowledge the envious stares that followed him, their misinterpretation of his actions were hardly his problems.

Smiling in relief, Kirino turned towards the group and stuck her tongue out at them. She was taken and they better take notice of that. Maybe, maybe, they could even spread word that a cute strawberry blonde and a handsome brunette had been seen dating. Kirino really hoped they would, even the illusion of romance between them would be better then what they now shared.

.

.

.

"So, what's he like?" Kyousuke asked, eyes scanning the packed room for any signs of the man in question. He completely ignored the affectionate gaze that his sisters directed towards him, unashamedly. Kirino's gaze falling to his arm as she silently contemplated what to do, the need for further attachment becoming more and more pressing.

"What's he like? Paranoid, repulsive, powerful, rich… same old, same old. In fact, he doesn't display any characteristics that would make him worth our time. Saori collected most of the information so you'd have to ask her."

"Saori-sama has never been wrong before… but I still don't understand why we were needed here. Surely this is too low key for us." Kyousuke replied, looking at Kirino with the hope that she could answer his question.

Blushing under his attention, Kirino stammered a reply "I-I'm not sure. We must have been called for a reason though. Maybe the Phantoms know more than they are letting on?"

"Doubtful," Kyousuke rebutted ", Saori wouldn't allow us to be used as pawns in their game. And, in any case, we're too valuable to be played around with. Perhaps Manami is busy and we had to fill in for her."

Huffing in annoyance, Kirino grabbed a hold of Kyousuke's arm and wrapped it around her shoulder. "Don't bring her up now, Baka… Either way, we were called so we are obviously needed but where the hell is he?"

Turning to regard his surroundings, Kyousuke finally eyed the rather withered man "He's over there… profile matches up as does his elderly gait, must be our man."

"That's the guy! Wow! He looks old enough to be pushing up the daisy's…" Kirino laughed, finally noticing the rather old man who had been talking to an armoured guard.

"He soon will be, come on let's introduce ourselves…"

And with an arm carefully keeping Kirino at his side, Kyousuke walked towards the withered old man. The old man spotted him before he had even taken a step in his direction… a friendly smile rising to his lips.

Despite the friendly atmosphere, Kyousuke noticed his guard watching intently and if he wasn't being paranoid; circling his position?

"Welcome sir… young miss. My name is Akuma and I hope you are enjoying my cousins little party?" Akuma stated warmly, gesturing to the festivities going on around him.

"Yes it is a most wonderful party, sir… oh, allow me to introduce myself; my name is Motosuwa Hideki and this here is Motosuwa Chi. Thank you for inviting us." Kyousuke responded, offering his hand in greeting. At this action Kyousuke sensed the guards moving to their holstered weapons. They seemed very on edge? Had they been tipped off?

"No, you are most welcome Hideki, Chi. Are you by any chance a newly married couple?" Akuma asked completely ignoring the hand Kyousuke had offered in greeting. His old, wrinkled forehead tensing as he regarded the young man who seemed oddly familiar.

"Oh," Kyousuke chuckled good-naturedly, embarrassed by the question which had come up so many times. "We get that a lot but no we're…"

"Engaged… soon to be married." Kirino piped up, digging her elbow into Kyousuke's ribs as discreetly as possible.

"Oh my," Akuma laughed looking between the two. "I think congratulations are in order."

"No we..." Kyousuke hurriedly attempted to correct Kirino's un-needed interjection but was immediately silenced as she twisted in her arms. The movement looked natural, as if he Kyousuke had spun and wrapped her in a protective hug to show how deeply in love they were.

"We're very much in love. The wedding is a little way off but we're hoping to bring a child into our lives before we get married." Kirino replied, looking Kyousuke squarely in the eye; the meaning clear and comprehended by Kyousuke in a heartbeat.

Kirino wasn't mouthing off useless words…

No, she was gauging Akuma's reaction to the mention of children…

'Good thinking Kirino…'

To most this might have seemed like an odd thing to do. Why would you make something up just so you could see how they would react to the mention of children? But, you see, while Akuma was known as a capable and disciplined businessmen… there were also other things people did not know about.

"Oh I… I see. Isn't that marvellous! I wish you both the best of luck in your future and I very much hope to see your child someday. I'm sure she'll grow into a beautiful woman." Akuma stated, appearing slightly flustered and out of breath as he mentioned children. Akuma finally took in Kirino's gorgeous appearance and could only imagine her child to be a much smaller version of herself. The old man grew hard at this thought.

Yes, Akuma was a notorious business man with a brutality that could rival any dictator but that was only what people knew.

What they didn't know, and what he hid from the outside world, was that his company was nothing more than a front. A front for something far more repulsive, unthinkable and immoral in every sense of the word. Morality was nothing to this hideous man, all of his business interests complemented his sick nature.

You see, Akuma acquired businesses and created charities with the intent of using them for different purposes. All were created to further his hidden criminal empire, and what's worse; he was completely untouchable. He had high ranking officials, within both the government and law enforcement, in his back pocket. Akuma could bypass any legal red tape through his numerous contacts; whether they be lawyers, the police, politicians, assassins… Akuma was virtually untouchable.

For every good deed that Akuma had publically declared, would be followed by sinister intent. Take for instance the ChildProtection charity; Akuma had created the charity to support children who had been abandoned by their parents. This charity was one of the biggest of its kind. It welcomed unfortunate children into their arms, promising protection and nurturing in a number of different housing facilities across the world. But little did the public know that Akuma had a key that could open any door in the care home, and almost nightly Akuma would slip into a child's room and not leave till the next morning.

Bootlegging, drugs, under age prostitution, human trafficking, slavery, bribery you name it… the man had not only invested in it but also took part in it too. And he partook in these vile hobbies longer than any same man would have allowed.

This repulsive man had been seen in the company of underage women, most notably children, on several occasions. Their bodies would be found days later with the cause of death being described as nothing more than 'an unfortunate accident' or Akuma's personal favourite 'suicide'. This had all been signed and confirmed by professional doctors of course, despite the obvious signs of sexual activity moments before their death. Sometimes even surgical scars from recent abortions, were either ignored or simply wiped from the records.

Yes, this man had caused more misery than what should have ever been allowed…

Something had to be done about men like him… Yes, someone had to make him suffer for the sins he committed.

"I-I would very much like to be present on the day of your wedding. No, please, I know many people who could make your special day that more special. What do you say?"

"I would love that very much, Akuma. But, unfortunately, I don't think that will be possible." Kirino stated sadly, acting had always been her forte. "You see, we'll be moving to London soon… That's where my family live and you won't believe this but they agreed to let us live in their Mansion. I can't wait Hideki." Kirino finished, kissing Kyousuke firmly on the cheek before pressing his hands to her belly.

"Oh, that… that is a shame. Whereabouts' in London are you moving?" Akuma replied, edging closer to the pair.

"W-were not sure yet. But we'll be moving in with our niece; she really is a true beauty and still only nine. I can't wait to see her again." Kirino responded her eyes subtly gauging his reaction once more,

'You sick fucking freak…'

"Oh, nine years old you say. She must truly be something, listen if you are ever in need of my expertise or finances please don't hesitate to call. Here, please take my card." Akuma turned away from the pair fumbling in his pockets eagerly. The two guests simply looked at one another in acknowledgement.

'Phase 2: Complete…'

After several awkward moments, a guard slipped the card inside his side pocket and tapped it twice. This was not some secret card which he only gave to people who he saw as important but a card he had entrusted to his highly trained guard force. He had, in fact, spoken to them at quite some length about not forgetting his cards but had, himself, apparently forgotten his own words in his excitement.

"Ah, here they are…" Akuma laughed, holding out his hand towards Kyousuke, "If you ever need help or require a confidential word… don't hesitate to call me. Oh and if you do ever find out the number of your address please forward it to me, I like to keep my closest contacts in an address book. You know, old age and everything. On some days I hardly even remember my own birthday."

'Repulsive…'

Then, just as Kyousuke was about to move to retrieve the card, Kirino quickly grabbed it from Akuma's hand. As if this wasn't strange enough, Kirino hurriedly clasped both of Kyousuke's hands in hers and pressed them into her stomach. What the hell was she doing?

When Kyousuke was about to question her actions, Kirino purposely pressed her finger nails into her brother's hand. That silenced any questions he might have had in an instant. What was going on? Kirino only ever acted this way when there was something wrong. Although whatever the matter was Kyousuke couldn't see it.

"Thank you very much sir. You will be the first I call when I find out the address… And I hope you don't mind but I may require your assistance a little earlier than you think." Kirino responded sweetly, bowing slightly.

'Don't you fucking touch him...'

'I would never allow such a filthy person to touch my aniki…'

This was why Kirino had snatched that card out of Akuma's hand before Kyousuke. She didn't want him to have to touch repulsive people like Akuma. He may have been more experienced in his profession but that didn't mean Kirino was about to let him mingle or even touch filth like him.

No, Aniki would never be allowed to touch those kinds of people, never…

While Kirino was off in her own world, Kyousuke had suddenly realised the damage that Kirino had caused. He saw it in the man's eyes, a glint that had been repressed for so long had finally awakened. It had happened the moment Kirino's hand had made contact with the old man's. He saw it. The way Akuma's breath had caught in his throat, the way his face tinted a deep crimson, the way his eyes glazed over in an expression that could have only been described as lust.

… This was not good.

Kyousuke knew what had to be done. He had to get both Kirino and himself out of Akuma's line of sight…

Things had taken a turn for the worst and they needed to retreat immediately.

"Well, if you'll excuse us. We really need to get going." Kyousuke interjected, holding Kirino close as he walked away from Akuma.

"Chi… Hideki. Do you have somewhere to stay for the night?" Akuma asked, following them at a hectic pace along with his guards.

"Yes, we're staying at a local hotel." Kyousuke responded, and in a whisper added to Kirino. "Keep moving."

"Oh, I couldn't possibly allow my finest guests to sleep in a rusty hotel. Why don't you two spend the night at my Mansion, it's nearby?" Akuma responded, a surprisingly strong hand now gripping Kyousuke's forearm.

At the contact Kyousuke immediately held Kirino in place. She could feel the young fiery blonde trying to wriggle out of his grasp, as well as the tension in her shoulders and upper back. Kirino never liked it when people touched him, Kyousuke had learnt this very early on. He knew that she would react violently, compromise the entire mission simply because their target had dared to put a hand on him. That couldn't be allowed.

There was no way Kirino was going to stay calm now. He had to get her away from Akuma, not for her safety or his but for the safety of the mission.

"I'm sorry but we couldn't possibly do that. Now if you'll excuse me, we really must be going."

Frustrated by the unexpected refusal, Akuma watched Kyousuke's retreating figure but more importantly the retreating figure of the most beautiful women he had ever seen. And yet she belonged to that man? A man unworthy of Chi's love!

How could he, the great Akuma, be refused by some trumped up little shit like Hideki? He would show him, by the end of tonight Chi would be writhing in his bed whether she liked it or not.

"That girl," Akuma said, motioning towards Kirino's retreating figure "Don't let her leave. Bring her to the Mansion as discreetly as possible."

"And the boy?"

"You know the drill. Dispose of the boy only if you must."

"Understood sir."

.

The five suit clad men set out after Chi and Hideki immediately, following the pair at a fair and un-suspicious distance. They were waiting for their moment, when the two of them were left alone only then would they act.

The guards continued to tail the pair when Kyousuke and Kirino entered through a nearby door. How could they be so blind, one of the guards thought. They were being tailed and yet they decided to corner themselves. Perhaps they were unaware of being followed. Looked like this hunt was going to be quicker then he thought. I mean, it wasn't like they could kidnap the girl in public.

Imagine that, Akuma's own personal body guards seen kidnapping a young girl in the middle of a party, all hell would break loose. The boss could even get a slight slap on the hand from the authorities, heaven for fend. We couldn't have that now could we?

"Alright, follow my lead… I'll take the girl and you four deal with the boy. You may kill the boy but not the girl understood, we have orders to keep her alive and unspoiled. Only kill the boy if the situation demands it, but it would be better if we kept him alive." The guard instructed, positioning himself in front of the door.

Now, you may have believed that the guard had good intentions in preserving the life of Kyousuke but that could not have been further from the truth.

"If the boy is still alive we pocket a bigger fortune, you know what the old man's like… pervert likes to fuck the girl's right in front of their partners. It's the only way he can get it up." Sniggering, the guard opened the door and walked into the room.

The room was silent and more notably to the five men devoid of life. Within the room dust clung to every piece of surface present in the room, pieces of white cloth laid upon worn down furniture. The place was a complete mess. Cob webs, dust, mould, you name it and it would most likely be here.

Stepping further within the room, and circling the furniture, the group's leader spoke.

"Split up, they couldn't have gotten far…"

"No," Without warning the door to the room closed behind them, their flash lights turning towards Kyousuke who held the doorknob. "… Not far at all."

"…"

As they were about to approach the lone man, the guards were forced to stagger back when a nearby cloth was lifted to reveal the startling beauty. Kirino stepped away from the table she had been sitting under, pacing her way towards Kyousuke. Her eyes were fixed on him, he really was quite handsome, wasn't he. Having reached her aniki, Kirino rested her head against his shoulder, attempting to look as seductive as possible as she looked him in the eye.

"See," Kirino said erotically, rolling her tongue and swaying her head in a childish manner as she stared into Kyousuke's eyes ", I told you this would work."

"You did, and I was wrong. To be honest I didn't think they would be stupid enough to fall for such an obvious trick, but still." Kyousuke remarked staring at the five guards who looked at one another in confusion.

"I owe you lunch tomorrow, right?" Kyousuke finished lamely, unsure what he was supposed to do now he had lost their bet.

As this was going on, however, the guards continued to stare at one another, each guard imploring the other to move. To take action. It wasn't that they were incompetent, in fact far from it, but even with all their expensive training something about these two didn't seem right.

They were most likely high schooler's, the girl maybe a little younger give or take a few years, but there was this aura of danger about them. Not to mention this aura of confidence which seemed to seep out of their pores. It was as if the sight of five well trained guards meant nothing to them. They didn't seem intimidated, nervous or even concerned about their present situation. It was this courage that made the leader step back as Kirino and Kyousuke continued to talk despite the danger of their situation.

"Lunch? I said a date, baka." Kirino huffed angrily "Remember our deal? If these morons fell for my trap then you would take me out on a date."

"… Um, excuse me?" A guard stammered, giving up when the pair showed no signs of listening.

"A date? Come on Kirino we've been through this a hundred times."

"Then let's go through it one more time."

"Um," another guard puts his hand up, the sight confusing both Kyousuke and Kirino as they acknowledged him. "I hate to interrupt but…"

Turning to face Kirino, Kyousuke rested a hand on her shoulder and leaned a little closer trying to make her see how serious he was "Listen, we will talk about this later. For now…"

Taking a step away from Kirino, Kyousuke cracked his knuckles and regarded the five inferior guards with an evil smile…

"Let's take out the trash."

As he said this however, Kyousuke's attempt at intimidation were completely undermined by Kirino; who was noisily mimicking hurling in the background.

"Is that really all you could think of? Are you five years old or something?"

Ignoring the bewildered guards, Kyousuke responded with a red tint glowing in his cheeks.

"Y-You think up a better one liner then…"

"What the hell is wrong with you…?" The group's leader shouted, tired of the bickering of these two people who he had been momentarily afraid of.

"Now..." Kirino instructed sprinting towards the nearest guard in view.

Flipping over a table, Kirino lunged towards the guard. The guard staggered back, completely unprepared for the speed at which the girl moved. Anticipating his actions, Kirino managed to avoid his flailing grab attempt, instead using the guards hunched back as leverage. Rolling over his back Kirino delivered a hard kick to the side of his knee, a scream of pain leaving the man's lips as he clutched at his shattered knee. The man's cries of pain were silenced, however, when Kirino spun around and drilled her knee into the side of his temple.

Then, in a seamless motion, Kirino dodged another approaching guard who attempted to slash her with his combat knife. The man continued to slash at her, meeting thin air every time. Kirino was circling around him, disorientating him, dancing and dodging away from the knife with practised ease. Realising that the girl was playing with him the guard pulled out another knife from his belt, no longer caring about the bosses instructions.

With several well timed pirouettes Kirino scaled the nearby wall and sprang off it with the force of a freight train. The man never saw it coming. The young girl twirled around him and before he knew it her knee connected with his nose. Blood began to pour from his broken nose, his knifes forgotten and lying at his feet as he held his nose between his hands. Sensing an opportunity, Kirino swept the man's legs out from under him causing the man to topple onto his back with a sickening thud. The guard wheezed and spluttered, the blood trickling from his nose and onto his uniform.

Taking pity on the man, Kirino pressed her knee into the man's neck applying as much pressure as her little, yet powerful, body would allow. Her hands held him in place as she continued to suffocate, into wouldn't be long now.

As the man struggled and gasped for air Kirino couldn't help but laugh at his predicament, and his vein attempts to get her off him. Why would he want her to get off him? Wasn't this every guys dream?

'I bet he's never been this close to a beautiful woman before…'

'I could think of worse ways to die…'

'He could even see up my skirt if he wasn't struggling for his life…'

'But only Aniki will ever know what lies behind it."

The man continued to claw desperately at her milk white thighs, scratch marks and small trickles of blood slipping down her leg and onto the guard's face as he gasped for air. Completely unaffected by this, Kirino pressed her finger to the man's lips and graced him with one last beautiful song before he died…

"Hush little baby don't say a word…

… Momma's gonna buy you a mockingbird…"

The man continued to claw and splutter, his arms lying limp at his side while the light in his eyes slowly dimmed.

"And if that mockingbird won't sing…

Aniki will buy me a diamond ring."

"Kirino!" Kyousuke shouted, a guard already lying lifeless at his feet.

As Kyousuke turned his attention to Kirino one of the guards attempted to blind side him. Unfortunately, the guard was unaware of Kyousuke's lightning quick reflexes as he threw the punch. Which was why, with relative ease, the young man side stepped the guard and tripped him up as he passed.

"Now isn't the time to play around! Grab one of their mobile devices and I'll deal with these two."

"But Aniki…" Kirino stated in a whinny manner. "You promised me a diamond ring, I'm just reminding you."

Kirino's expression turned joyful as she suddenly remembered Kyousuke's promise, one he couldn't so easily worm his way out of. Not after she had saved his life so valiantly.

"Fine. A date and a diamond ring, is that all?" Kyousuke asked blocking a wild swing from one guard before spinning and throwing him against the other prone associate who had been trying to get to his feet.

"That's all I can think of… Now deal with those guys and let's move, aniki."

While Kirino had been speaking however, Kyousuke had already taken down one of the men. He had sent the guard through the glass mirror head first, not by force, but by a simple trip to the unsuspecting man's leg.

As the final guard approached, Kyousuke saw the awkward punch coming a mile away. Blocking the wild attempt, Kyousuke twisted the guard's arm and applied enough pressure to his shoulder that the guard was forced to kneel in front of him. Then, as the man kneeled, Kyousuke delivered another painful kick to the man's throat.

As the guard wretched backwards in pain, Kyousuke twisted his body around the man and wrapped his legs around the man's neck. Once Kyousuke had planted the guard into the ground, he gripped his own foot and pushed it upwards, applying more pressure on the guard's throat.

The man, much like the last, struggled and fought for air; gasping with what little air was left available to him. As he clawed and attempted to alleviate the pressure around his neck, Kirino kneeled in front of him watching his purple and pained face with evident curiosity and… jealousy?

"You really are lucky you know. Aniki never treats me like this."

The sudden remark almost caused Kyousuke to loosen his grip and, as he realised his momentary lapse of concentration, Kyousuke immediately applied more pressure. The gasping man started to grow more desperate as time went on, which was evidenced by his attempts grab Kyousuke's most private area. In response to this Kirino held the guards arms against the floor and watched her aniki with a mixture of love, admiration and… lust?

"What do you mean? 'I never treat you like this'? Would you prefer it if I tried to strangle you?"

Pressing a kiss to Kyousuke's cheek, Kirino smiled. "I wouldn't say no if it meant I could have your legs wrapped around me."

Smiling that beautifully adorable smile, Kirino sat up as the man's arms laid motionless, unable to rise due to Kirino's pressure and the lack of oxygen entering his lungs.

"Eh, Kirino. I'm kind of busy here." Kyousuke stuttered, applying more pressure to the guard's neck. Apparently this man had more fighting spirit then Kyousuke gave him credit for, he sure was a toughie.

"Don't worry Aniki," Kirino stated happily, sitting beside Kyousuke and wrapping her arms around his neck. She leaned closer to her aniki, laying her head in the crook of his neck.

Kyousuke could only gasp at this sudden encroachment, attempting to lean away from Kirino to create distance.

"Kirino only has eyes for you. And I am not about to die if it means my Aniki is taken away from me."

Laughing nervously as Kirino closed her eyes and pressed another kiss to his neck, Kyousuke spoke up.

"Oh… I-I am so relieved. Now please get off me," Kirino's eyes rolling in embarrassment as she realised what he was about to do.

"… I have to finish this." Kyousuke said defiantly, sounding like every cheesy character from those massive action movie, movies which held little to no realism what so ever.

"I have to finish this, are you serious?" Kirino chided, flicking his forehead. "What are we, in a movie? How cheesy can you be?"

Unaware that the man below him had been dead for quite some time, Kyousuke continued to apply pressure. His focus had been stolen by Kirino's childish attack which had hurt a lot more than the guard's attempts to grab his very special region.

"Tell you what, next time we are on a mission you can come up with the punch lines then, deal?" Kyousuke remarked, Kirino's assaults stopping as her head returned to the crook of his neck, her hands playing with loose strands of hair, to Kyousuke's annoyance.

"Why do we even need a punch line, we're assassin's for god sake… not Agents."

Shaking his head at his sister's naivety, Kyousuke responded.

"Because it's customary. You see it in all those Hollywood movies; Die Hard, James Bond… hell even the greatest assassin alive, Jason Bourne, has cool one liners. It's what makes them so fricking awesome."

Kirino could only sigh at Kyousuke's evident excitement, this was one thing she wishes she could change in her soon to be husband. Ever since he had become an assassin Kyousuke had grown to have an unhealthy obsession with agents, particularly Jason Bourne. It was an unhealthy obsession, obviously, because her aniki was now spending too much time watching the Bourne series and not enough time watching Magical Siblings with her.

Now, that was unacceptable…

Turning down the greatest show ever in the history of TV because of some average action flick…

UNACCEPTABLE!

"You are so lame," Kirino said, looking down, ashamed by her brother's childish interests. It was then that Kirino suddenly noticed that the guard was dead. But, rather than informing her aniki of this fact, Kirino came up with an even better idea.

"Aniki…" Kirino asked teasingly, her head rising to Kyousuke's, eyes connecting only centimetres away, Kirino's breath rapidly increasing as it mingled with her brother's.

"Hmm? W-What?"

"You might be lame… But I wouldn't have you any other way."

Before Kyousuke could question Kirino's strangely phrased statement, Kirino's lips descended upon his. Gasping in surprise, Kirino took home the advantage, pressing her lips firmly against Kyousuke who could do nothing more than attempt to wriggle out of the lip lock. A task made nigh impossible thanks to Kirino's arms, which were now wrapped around his necks while her lips nipped and tugged at the intoxicating flesh before her.

Mewling in satisfaction, Kirino leaned Kyousuke's head closer… their lips becoming pliant as Kirino manoeuvred and swayed her head from side to side trying to taste as much of her aniki as she could be afforded. After all, she rarely got these opportunities. So why waste them?

"Kirino! Stop it! I said no!"

As Kyousuke struggled to get these words out, Kirino attempted to silence him by licking his along the flesh of his lip. She wanted to savour every moment of this. She licked along her own lips and spent a moment revelling in the taste of her aniki on her lips. She wasn't going to step. She couldn't stop. This was far more intimate than she had ever been allowed and she was going to press home her advantage for as long as she could. Kirino was going to make sure her aniki would remember this kiss for the rest of his life.

Kyousuke, showing no signs of fighting back, tried to move away once again. Kirino put an end to this action by pressing her body closer to his, while Kyousuke's hands and legs continued to suffocate the guard who had long since passed away. The unfortunate young man - completely unaware of this fact – continued to apply pressure, fearing that the guard might slip out of his grip and attack his sister.

Stretching her legs against the cold floor, Kirino leaned out of the kiss; her hands still connected at the back of his neck as she swayed and smiled adorably. Perhaps she was attempting to look as innocent as possible, or maybe seeing if she had burned more bridges than she intended.

She didn't want that…

Kirino loved him deeply after all, and the last thing she wanted was to harm him in any way…

But opportunities like this don't come around very often…

What's a girl supposed to do?

"Kirino, seriously! Stop!"

"Then stop me. A-N-I-K-I…"

As if to reiterate her point, Kirino slowly slid her hands under Kyousuke's shirt, her eyes never leaving his as she did this. That was when she heard it. It was low and barely discernible but she heard Kyousuke moan. He liked this. He liked what she was doing. It was then that a new surge of emotion swept her away. Feelings of love and affection taking over her senses. Feeling unspent sexual energy, Kirino proceeded to kiss, bite and pull his lower lip between her teeth.

"Kirino I said stop it…"

When that response came Kirino only kissed harder, letting her tongue wipe at his mouth rather disgustingly. It was only a matter of time before Kyousuke realised the lack of a pulse. Better to savour the feeling while it lasted because from the sounds of it, it might very well be her last.

"Oh for god sake! Right, that's it."

Finally had enough, Kyousuke twisted his knees and snapped the guard's neck. Once relieved of that burden Kyousuke spun Kirino around and held her against the ground. Kirino's flustered, lip bruised and dishevelled appearance making him forget himself for a moment as his younger sister panted beneath him. Her hands still remained held in his, resting on either side of her head.

"We… we have a job to do… not to mention the fact that I'm your brother, so enough."

Unexpectedly Kirino started to giggle, her legs slowly lifting to wrap around Kyousuke's waist. Before he could react Kirino had wrapped her legs around his waist and lowered his body down to rest on top of her.

"hehe, you'll break sooner or later A-N-I-K-I…" Kirino whispered sultrily, tapping her older brother's lip with each pronounced letter of his name.

"And I'll be there to comfort you when you do."

"I hope you're ready to wait for an eternity then." Kyousuke replied, lifting Kirino off the ground as he positioned himself in a press up position.

At this act, Kirino let out a girlish squeal. She was lifted off the ground, her legs and arms wrapping around Kyousuke tightly as he sprung up and onto his feet. Kirino pouted as she stepped away from the man who still refused to return her affections, the man who was now walking towards the lone door in the room.

"Don't worry I have my ways," Kirino stated defiantly. "You're already mine; you just don't know it yet." Kirino whispered, pressing herself up against Kyousuke while he scanned the parties remaining guests through the crack in the door.

"We'll see."

This rather flat response earned a cute pout to come from Kirino, but despite the obvious rejection Kirino still felt content enough to rest her head against Kyousuke's shoulder. She completed the act by wrapping her arms around his stomach in a tight embrace which Kyousuke did not dismiss or acknowledge in the slightest. Although from the sound of his heart he was most definitely affected by Kirino's actions.

"He's still there," Kyousuke said recognizing the old man who seemed to be looking for his now deceased or unconscious guards. "Are you sure you're up to this, Kirino?"

Kirino looked at him in confusion.

"I'd rather not leave you alone with him."

Kyousuke closed the door and turned to face Kirino lifting his hands and taking both of Kirino's prone figures into his. Avoiding Kirino's questioning stare, Kyousuke began to rub the digits gently as he silently berated himself for what needed to happen next. He hated himself sometimes. After all what kind of a brother would allow their own sister to be a pawn in this game. A pawn who would be left alone in a car with a repulsive pervert.

Sure if anything happened Kirino could easily take care of herself but just the thought of someone putting their hands on his blood related sister was enough to cause an uncontrollable rage to fester inside him. And if that man, Akuma, dared to touch her then he could not be held accountable for the things he would do. He wouldn't kill the man, no, not at first, Kyousuke knows he would have made him suffer first.

As Kyousuke pondered his predicament, Kirino began to blush at the unexpected yet welcomed act. Kirino loved Kyousuke both as a brother and as that special someone who would one day become her life. Just because she loved Kyousuke didn't mean he was no longer her brother.

Why choose between one and the other when you could have both?

"Aniki, look at me. I'll be fine. We need to follow the plan to the letter until the very end, otherwise we risk losing him… We can't let him harm another child."

"I know. I know, it's just… Kirino listen to me. If anything happens or if it becomes too much for you to handle; forget the mission. If he tries to touch you in any way; kill him and if you won't then I promise you. I will kill him myself." Kyousuke replied his tone becoming darker as he looked through the crack of the door one last time.

Akuma, the man in question, could be seen talking to what appeared to be a newly married couple. His eyes never left their youngest eight year old daughter who hugged her mother's leg, evidently uncomfortable with whatever they were talking about. Or, most likely the creepy stares the old man was sending her way.

"No, Aniki." Kirino stated, pushing Kyousuke against the door hard. "We need him alive. There is no justice in killing a man in cold blood. No matter how horrendous his crimes are. And, in any case, the Phantoms have marked him. He has information that could prove beneficial to the Phantom's. So, even after we retrieve the data, he will not be able to reap the benefits of his betrayal. You know he well die, aniki. But not by our hands… The Agency is the only organisation which can act as god, and don't you forget that.

"I don't care, Kirino," Kyousuke interjects, his voice heightening by the second. "If he so much as touches you I will kill him… with my own two hands, understood?"

"God, you are so overly protective… But thank you, Aniki."

With a chaste kiss to his cheek, Kirino stepped away from Kyousuke. He really was such a wonderful man. It was so obvious. He really did care about her, didn't he…?

"How much time will you need, aniki?"

Groaning, Kyousuke pondered this for a second. His mind racing as he saw the layout of the area clearly within his mind, the many passages, short cuts all with unquestionable accuracy. Yes, he knew exactly how long it would take and thankfully he wouldn't be long. Kirino would only have to stay in that filth's company for 5, 10 minutes, if that.

"I'll need a few minutes to find his chaperone, I'll also need that mobile you picked up earlier too," Kirino fished the device out of her pocket and tossed it towards him.

"Give me three minutes, okay?"

"No problem, I'll stall for time then head to his car. Just give me a nod so I know it's you, okay?"

"It's a chaperone Kirino. I highly doubt he could take me in a fight." Kyousuke joked, a futile attempt at humour falling on deaths ears.

"Come on. I worry about you, you know. Just give me a subtle nod that's all I'm asking… just so I know you're nearby. Watching over me."

To Kirino, Kyousuke had always been her guardian angel…

Despite the frequent years of neglect early in their childhood, Kyousuke had made every attempt to make up for it…

Just the reassurance that Kyousuke was not only nearby but safe, that was all she needed to hear in her life. That Kyousuke was close-by and safe. She didn't fear Akuma, he was nothing special and she could easily over power him if needed. In fact, the only fear she had concerning Akuma was that she might accidentally kill him if she applied even the slightest bit of pressure.

"Fine, I understand. I'll nod but only when he is out of my eye line. We can't afford to tip him off."

"Okay," Kirino breathed, leaning Kyousuke away from the door so that she could look out into the party. Nothing to do with Kirino wanting Kyousuke to be pressed up against her body, oh no nothing like that.

"I should get going. It looks like Akuma might be leaving already… We can't waste time!"

And with that Kyousuke sprinted towards the window and leapt through it, somersaulting so that he landed on both feet and rolled to continue his momentum. Kirino meanwhile watched him from the window, a slightly forlorn expression in her face as she watched his retreating form vanish out of sight.

Life always felt lonely when Kyousuke wasn't around…

Taking a deep breath, Kirino locked away her feelings of hatred for the man she was about to meet and opened the door.

Akuma…

Their prime target…

Phantom's prime target.

Author's Notes:

Hello everyone. This is an updated version of the previous chapter with additions and subtractions which will allow me to tell the story I want. I have planned this story out completely now and I found that the original chapter –while badly written – was also full of inaccuracies that needed to be corrected. Certain characters, i.e. Kuroneko, will serve a different function to what I previously envisioned. The rating of this story will also be updated shortly, this will be a Mature story which will become a lot darker than previously imagined. So, be warned. I have big plans for this story which is why I am warning you now. Stop reading because stuff will happen that you may not like. I will tell you this though, like I stated previously, I will not include the rape of prominent characters in my story. I don't want to write that stuff. So have no fear of descriptive rape in this story because it ain't happening.

Furthermore, this story was brought about by anime called Requiem for the Phantom. The anime would spoil certain events that will happen in this story but I don't think it would detract from the experience. My plan is to make Kirino prominent in this story, she will be a far more interesting character then compared to Kyousuke. I have big plans for her and you will see many different sides of her character. You will see her demented side during the next chapter. If you can stomach the next chapter then I doubt you will have trouble with the rest of the story. I'm really looking forward to completing this story because I want to hear people's impressions of Kirino's character development. To say I'm excited about this is an understatement.

I will be updating this story infrequently, as Empty Places and The Succubus will now take precedent over my writing. But have no fear. I decided to include Till My Dying Day despite having previously stated that I would wait. But I honestly can't now that I have this story planned out. Updates obviously depend on interest. If I find that Till My Dying Day is doing well then I will update this story regularly.

As for Empty Places I will commence writing that story during the next week. The delay has been a bitter pill for me to swallow because I am now aware that interest in that story has diminished. But never mind. I want to finish and get that story seen by people. It is my best story and I haven't been giving it the attention I believe it deserves. So expect regular updates for Empty Places, and if I don't update regularly then please nudge and prod me to get moving. Empty Places is a story I need to see completed.

Reviews and the like would be very much appreciated. I would love to hear your opinion on the story. Especially the changes that I have mentioned above.

Any questions? Feel free to ask and I will answer your question to the best of my ability.

Well I hope you enjoyed; Till my Dying Day.

I wish you all the best.
