Citadel, Widow System, Serpent Nebula

Battle of the Citadel

The Geth fleet pressed relentlessly onward towards the Citadel defence fleet, heedless of damage or losses. In a last desperate attempt to stop them, the primarily Turian fleet opened fire with all weapons, yet the Geth carried on uncaring of losses. Minutes later the fight was at almost point blank range and then the Geth ships unleashed hell. Single precise shots echoed through the void, complemented by a literal wave of disruption torpedoes and boiling plasma charges with the Turian's being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of audience being flung at them. As a savage ship duels erupted around the Citadel and Sovereign dove unopposed towards the heart of the Citadel, no one noticed a strange emission of quantum particles erupting from a growing tear in space, centred on a Geth dreadnought.

As the Turian lines bent around the Geth hammer blow, frantic calls for aid from dead or dying ships jammed the communications channels, it happened.

Space around the lead Geth dreadnought shimmered and then folded in on itself as objects started to materialise in the same position of space as the doomed ship.

With a thunderous explosion the dreadnought came apart as its structure gave away and out of the explosion emerged an Or'es El'leath Class Battleship.

The sudden emergence combined with the growing amount of other ships materializing in the stricken Geth fleet brought every side to a halt as commanders struggled to process what their eyes were telling them, yet that their computers denied was happening. Even Soveriegn stopped for a moment to take in the sight, before accelerating at an even faster rate towards the Citadel core.

The rate of ships spawning in only increased and within a minute a growing armada of graceful Tau ships contrasted with the emergence of blocky and ugly imperial ships, while shockingly a planet popped into existence and then with a collision of light particles, the event stopped and space-time returned to its normal flow.

Commander Shepard, Citadel

Lowering his M-98 Widow and exhaling, John Shepard observed the carnage within the chambers and marvelled at the mess the sniper round had made of the Saren husk creature.

Turning to walk out of the tower, John stumbled and fell to one knee as a serious of impacts rocked the Citadel.

Lifting his Omni tool to his mouth, Shepard activated the communications channel to the Normandy.

''Joker, status report. What's happening out there?''

'Shepard you aren't going to believe this but there are 2 alien fleets just sitting out here and their smallest ships are dreadnought sized. ''

''Who are they and where did they come from.''

'' Unknown on both counts Shepard, did I mention there's a planet here as well…., shit one of the ships just fired torpedoes in your general direction.''

''Time to impact?''

'' impact in 3 seconds, brace for impact now….''

Howling in frustration, John frantically tried to reconnect to the Normandy.

''Joker…''

''I am here Shepard, nice to know you care after''

''Status on the torpedoes?''

''They crashed in the lower wards and appear to be deploying Mechs of some sort''

''Acknowledged Joker, I am on my way to investigate.''

Gal'leath Class Battleship, Widow System, Serpent Nebula

Groaning in agony, the bridge command crew picked themselves up off the floor they had been thrown to. The lead Ethereal surveyed the crew before asking the question at the forefront of everyone's mind.

'' Did the device succeed?''

'' Scanning now Prelate'', replied one off the bridge crew as he reactivated his console.

'' sensors picking up hundreds of vessels and most appear to be giving off a weird exotic gravity field, scanning star systems, results confirmed Prelate the device has worked as we hoped.''

''very well locate the Imperials and open up negotiations with these new aliens and get this ship back up to 100% combat efficiency.''

The air became charged with a sense of purpose as the bridge crew leapt to perform the tasks, unaware that similar scenes were playing out elsewhere.

The Rock, Widow System, Serpent Nebula

'' No damage Grand Master but its unknown about the status of our fleet and allies. At present we are surrounded by unknown ships which appear to be clustered around a small space station of spume sort. What are your orders sir?''

'' Deploy the Deathwing onto that station, their orders are to find out who the inhabitants are and if they are Xenos, they are to purge them. Also find the locations of the Tau and ready our ships for a strike.''

''At once grand Master.''

SSV Kilimanjaro, Widow System, Serpent Nebula

'' This is Admiral Hackett, give me a status report on the battle''

''Sir, the sensors report 2 unidentified fleets that have appeared in the area, with the smallest ship being dreadnought size and the largest being classed as a planet by the sensors, sorry that is a planet, but one of the ships is the size of a large moon or small planet''

''Numbers?''

''Around 300 plus sir''

''Get me the Council, I think we have another first contact situation and for god's sake find out where those ships came from'', ordered a breathless and stunned Hackett

''Complying now sir''

'' I want my ships in defence formation as soon as possible, no ships are to fire without my express orders''

''Yes Sir''

The Rock, Widow System, Serpent Nebula

Deep within the vessel, ancient sensors and arcane systems groaned to life after millennia of disuse with little understood functions turning seemingly on at random, opening up new routes within the core of the ship. Secondary reactors fired up and impenetrable vaults unlocked. With an ear splitting whine, relic stasis fields hidden within dark and secret tunnels powered down and their occupants began to stir from thousands of years of slumber.

Perhaps the greatest secret within the rock began to stir into life. Soon the Lion would once again roar and his enemies would know real fear.

A/N

I apologise for the long delay with the story and I now plan to get updates out once a month hopefully. This chapter sets the scene for the next and I apologise if it features too much talking for your liking. I have spent a while on this and I am still not happy with it.

Hope you enjoy the chapter if not the story and as always constructive criticism is welcomed with ideas being very appreciated.

Thanks for reading.
