-Doublesims
Something was wrong. He could feel it, as North would say in his belly. The feel was almost a new one it was similar to the one he felt a few months ago when Jack broke his arm. He only knew that happened because, he made Bunny tell him, after he noticed Jack was asleep but wasn't dreaming there for not getting any dream sand.
He was over Victoria Australia at the moment but the feeling was becoming too strong to ignore. There was something wrong with Jack. He sent the sand off to do it's job he was need else were.
It didn't take long for him to get where he wanted to go, he knew his way to the North Pole by heart from almost anywhere. Entering the workshop was easy, he was given some quizzled glances but he wasn't stoped. He made it to Jack's door with ease. If Jack wasn't there he had known idea where to look next for the Winter Spirit, maybe his Lake?
He took a calming breath and was about to open the door when a hole opened up beside him.
Bunny jumped out, something was wasn't right. Bunny knew this for Jack was meant to meet him at The Warren but never arrived. Something was wrong and seeing Sandy at Jack's door just made it feel real.
They didn't need to talk they just knew. Aster grasped the door handle and threw the door open. Jack was on the seat below the window asleep, there was a book on the floor, so it become obvious that he had been reading before hand. Jack was whimpering and had tears running down his cheeks.
Sandy and Bunny stared as black sand swirled above Jack's head.
"Beautiful isn't?" at the voice Sandy and Bunny wished to never hear again, less alone in Jack's room, Aster reached for his boomerangs.
"Let him go Pitch!"
"Now why would I do that?" said Pitch as he appeared from the shadows by the window and sat beside the child, looking down, almost sweetly, at the boy. "After all he always said he wasn't afraid of me but this time what he fears most is…" He waved a hand over Jack, Bunny growled, the sand formed a scene. Jack whimpered again.
Just like the gold dream sand shows the dreamer's dream, the black nightmare sand had shown the nightmare the child was trapped in. The black sand was showing Jack talking to Bunny. The sand Bunny raised and fist but didn't hit the sand Jack who had steeped back, the sand Bunny shock it's head and turned away as it did the other guardians had appeared. As the sand Jack looked at each one, starting with the sand Sanderson, they turned their backs on the sand Jack, whom had failed to his knees hugging himself.
The real Sanderson and Aster were distraught as they realized his fear was to be alone or cast out again.
"Oh Frostbite" Aster whispered quietly.
"You see, what he fears most is you rabbit." Pitch said with a laugh.
"No. You have it wrong Pitch. He fears the same-thing I do!" Bunny took out his boomerang and threw it at the 'Shadow sneaking dirt bag'.
Sandy rushed over to Jack as Pitch ducked and tried to reach for a shadow, he was still weak after all, to try to get away.
"Oh no you don't"
As the boogieman and the Easter Bunny fought, Sandy tried to ease out the nightmare sand but it wasn't working, too well. Pitch made it to a shadow, under the hammock, and was gone. With a laugh he left one last message.
"You can't escape a nightmare when you still have fear."
At that moment Jack's nightmare had reached it's peck.
"NO!" Hand reached out, like trying to stop something, Jack awoke. He blinked a couple of times, as he realized he was out of the dream world and it didn't happen. Jack hugged himself and started to cry. Sandy reached out and hugged the boy, letting the child cry on his shoulder.
"Jack?" Bunny said in a soft voice as he sat next to the two people, close enough, he sees as his family. "You know we'll never leave you right.
Jack nodded as he calmed down, "But I was still alone for so long, I… not again please, not again."
"Sandy and I were alone for a long time too"
Jack looked at Sandy who nodded confirming what Bunny was saying was true.
"But we're family now Frostbite, and Family is to be never left-behind or forgotten."
Jack let go of Sandy to hug Bunny, who surprisingly hugged him back.
"Thank you, it will take time for the nightmares to stop but… at lest I have you two."
A few days later Sandy told Bunny, in his own way of talking, about a web type thing he saw above a child's bed that had caught black nightmare sand. It didn't take long for Bunny to realize he was talking about Dream-catchers. With some help from Phil, Bunny was able to create three. Two of the Dream-catchers were the size of Bunny's paws, hands, and the last was 50mm in diameter. One of the lager ones they hung above Jack's hammock and the other they hung above the window in his room. The small one Phil fitted it onto a pull string necklace, those one that change length how tight the string is pulled.
Jack found the necklace on his desk with a note that said; 'Please wear, it catches black sand and lets through the golden. From Bunny, Sandy and Phil.'
Jack smiled as he placed the necklace around his neck and tightened the string until the Dream-catcher pendent was sitting near his heart and hid it under his hoodie.
