There was no doubt that he was the one for her. She knew it in her bones.

She buried her nose into the curly hairs of his chest and breathed in his musky scent, temporarily forgetting all of her problems. Namely forgetting all of the other men. They had all come in their turn, plying her with their favors, and she had had her fill of their transparent attempts. She remembered each one clearly.

Tyreese leaving the lovesick poems on her pillow. She did admit to herself that the poems were sweet, but really, rhyming 'booty' with 'fruity'? That was just trying too hard.

Zach, arrogant and earnest, the closest one to her age and the one she held most in common. But him asking her to twerk and quoting Jay Z? She was NOT his Beyoncé and didn't want to be.

Carl, with flowers and inappropriate erections. She loved him, but she loved him like a brother, like she and he and Judith were all siblings together. He wasn't a man yet, and may never be in her eyes because he'd always be her baby brother.

Which brings up Rick. Attending her Daddy's Sunday prayer then pulling her aside to suggest that she could be Judith's and Carl's mama if she just married him. Well she knew that her daddy wanted that but no thank you, she thought, I'll have a family of my own one day!

Merle, well she had to admit, he may have had the most straightforward approach. Showing up at the side of her bunk at 2 am to drunkenly sing 'Hot, Sweet and Sticky' to her with accompanying pelvic thrusts. Sorry, she was just too young for being wooed with a Sammy Hagar song.

And well Daryl. She wasn't sure if he was trying or not, but when he invited her to grease his crossbow then turned bright red and couldn't speak a whole sentence without stuttering… she got the gist.

None of them could give her what she needed.

Then he came along.

"Come on", she said sleepily, patting the side of her bunk. "It's time to come to bed."

Happily, the curly haired brown puppy with a white chest and paws jumped into her bed, smothering her face with kisses and making her laugh out loud. She played with him for a few minutes then got him settled down to sleep. She looked into his sleepy brown eyes and smiled. "You're all I need," she said.

And she fell into a deep sleep.
