Hayley danced with Jackson, her head placed in the crook of his neck after an awkward moment collapsed.

He was her betrothed.

She had family.

And her real name was Andrea. Andrea Labonair, last surviving member of the Labonair ruling family of crescent wolves. Her pack.

Ever since Klaus had led her to New Orleans, Hayley had been trying to create a bond with her pack for both her and her unborn child. She wanted her daughter to have a place among people who would always cherish and protect her. Hayley knew the Mikaelsons would always protect her and as Klaus had taken over control of the quarter as well as all the factions he was the best bet of keeping their baby safe, but Hayley also knew that her baby would inherit all of Klaus's enemies.

But starting a life with Jackson and her pack could help insulate her baby girl from those enemies. He would be a good, strong male role model for her daughter. It was the balancing act that was giving Hayley anxiety. Klaus would never be denied his daughter or his throne. The hold he had over her through their child would interfere with any life she tried to build with Jackson.

So how was this going to work out? Klaus was maneuvering everyone exactly where he wanted them. Katherine and Elijah were wed, Hayley was staying at the Mikaelson estate, and Klaus was sitting back and enjoying the show.

There had to be a way for her to balance out her membership in the Mikaelson family and the Crescent wolf pack. And if she was going to find one Hayley would have to follow Katherine's lead and make a deal.

Katherine had spent the night by Elijah's side, moving from one guest to another as they made the rounds. Somewhere along the way Katherine had actually begun to enjoy herself. The young woman had allowed herself to pretend that this was real life; her happily ever after.

Until she saw Elena escape from Klaus's den. There was the girl who was the heroine of her story; Katherine the villain in her own life.

She wanted to be worthy and thought back to a time when she might have been. Sure, she had brought dishonor on her family by giving birth out of wedlock but she had truly loved Danail. Fate had brought them together just as it had for many other doppelgängers, and it had torn them apart. This she knew as Katherine was much more in the loop about the Silas situation than those who remained in Mystic Falls. She was just glad that the Bennett witch had turned Silas back into the pile of stone Katherine had released him from when she sacrificed Jeremy for the cure.

She wanted to be worthy but she knew that she could never be Katerina again. Not the girl who had confided to Elijah about love and had thought to share a life with Klaus. That was a fool's paradise. Her pesky little doppelgänger was right when she said that Katherine needed to turn up and turn out again. Katherine may have been a villain but if she was going to survive being permanently attached to the Mikaelsons she was going to have to think like Katherine Pierce.

She was going to be the hero of her own story. And it began with finding out what Elena knew.
