"Uh, Cas..." Dean coughs out quietly.

"What? Did you say something?" Cas replies absent-mindedly.

"I, um, I wanted to ask something," the hunter mutters.

"You have to speak louder, Dean. My angel senses are gone, remember? I can't hear like I used to..." The ex-angel frowns a bit.

Dean clears his throat and starts scratching the back of his neck nervously. "I, uh... We've been, you know, together... for a while now."

"Yes," Castiel agrees, smiling sweetly at his lover.

"And, uh... well... there are a lot of... benefits..."

Dean's voice trails off and he looks up at the magnificent man in front of him. God, I wish he'd just get what I'm trying to do, he thinks to himself. If only Castiel's people skills could be a little LESS Cas does is give Dean his famous squint. Dean clears his throat again.

"And... um... well, I know we'll be together for the rest of our lives, Cas." He hates how sappy he sounds, but continues. "And I guess I just wanted to do something to, uh, solidify that?"

"What do you mean, Dean?" Cas asks sweetly, still squinting.

"I mean... I want you to marry me, Castiel."

The ex-angel's eyes grow wide with surprise as his hunter finally makes eye contact with him.

"Oh."

"Oh? That's all you have to say? Are you serious?"

"No. Er, I mean, yes. I would love to marry you, Dean." His deep blue eyes glimmer with joy.

A quick sigh of relief escapes Dean's mouth before he pulls Cas close and kisses him. "I love you."

"Dean, I love you too."

Castiel pulled his hunter close, holding him in a loving embrace. Neither participant let go or loosened their grip, because neither of them ever wanted it to end.

Just a sweet little drabble my friend requested :)
