Chapter 6

"Face it Korra, you are done," spoke Ozai, "finish her,"

As Korra prepared to fight, three Imperial Fire benders defended her. "Run, Fire Lord Korra, we will buy you some time. You must get to safety," spoke one of the loyal Imperial Fire benders, as Korra stood up and ran away, with Zuko following her.

As the two Fire royals were leaving the scene, Korra saw that the soldiers that were loyal to Ozai quickly defeated ones that defended Korra and killed them.

"Come Zuko, it's time we escaped from this madness," spoke Korra as the two cousins continued to run.

"What do we have here, two traitors," spoke another voice in front of the two cousins.

"Azula, get back. We need to get away," spoke Zuko

"No, dear brother, I will capture you, and make my father proud," smiled Azula as she assumed a fighting stance.

"Leave her to me," spoke Korra as she stood up, and sent a large fireball at Azula. The younger girl dodged the attack and send fire at Korra who easily parted the fire.

"I know you can do better," spoke Korra as Azula jumped on her.

"I am sorry," a tear escaped Korra's eye as she punched her cousin in the stomach with her hand, sending her on the ground. Azula lost consciousness.

"Come, it's time for us to leave," spoke Korra as the two cousins arrived at the harbor. Soldiers attacked them, but Korra swung her leg, sending a firewall at the soldiers, who fell in the water.

Korra and Zuko jumped onto one relatively small ship, and sailed. As they were leaving the harbor, the two cousins saw that Ozai's army approached the shore.

"After them," spoke one of the Generals,"

"Don't worry, they have nowhere to run. The Fire Nation is hostile to them, and both the Earth Kingdom and the Water Tribes would immediately put them in prison. Don't bother, they won't be a nuisance," spoke Ozai as he looked at his niece, who glared angrily at her Uncle.

Korra looked at the water, and sent a fireball at it, creating steam, which provided them with more cover to escape into the sea.

The ship sailed for a few hours before the two teenagers got exhausted and decided to take a break. "I am so sorry Zuko, you lost your family all because of me," spoke Korra as she looked at him.

"No, I knew that Father was evil. He always treated me horrible. Don't worry Korra; I will be there for you. We are blood, and family always helps one another," tried to reassure her Zuko.

"Yes, one day, I will get better at Fire bending and face the false Fire Lord and reclaim my rightful place," spoke Korra as she instantly remembered her meeting with Azulon.

"Wait, I can't"

"What do you mean you cant? You are Korra, my cousin, the toughest girl I ever knew, and the best cousin one can wish for. What do you mean you cannot reclaim your rightful title?" asked Zuko

"I, I spoke with Grandfather, and I asked him to spare your life, and have father officially adopt you," spoke Korra as Zuko looked stunned.

"Korra, I see know that you tried to help me, but I have a feeling that it does not matter. Something else happened to our grandfather, and your request became invalidated," spoke Zuko as he hugged Korra.

"He is right, you know," spoke a voice in the air.

"Father!" exclaimed Korra as she looked at the person in the air, but could only see his spirit.

"Uncle Iroh!" now Zuko was also happy.

"Kids, I know this journey would be hard for you. Ursa killed Azulon in order to save you, Zuko, and help Ozai ascend the throne. So, your request is indeed invalid now. You have to claim your destiny and confront Ozai when you ready. You have to become the next Fire Nation leader, who will lead our country to greatness," spoke Iroh.

"I don't know if I can do it alone," spoke Korra

"You don't have to do it alone. You have your cousin. Find friends and allies. Go to colony Yu Dao first to try to recruit some allies. I wish you luck," spoke Iroh as he disappeared into the air.

"Father, father," spoke Korra as tears escaped her eyes. Zuko placed a hand on her shoulder.

"No, I will not be a weak girl, who is constantly running away from danger. No, I will train, and I will become the rightful leader of the Fire Nation. I swear it Uncle, I will see you again," spoke Korra as she stood firmly on the deck of their small ship, looking onto the horizon.

"I heard that Yu Dao is the home to Governor Sato and his wife Colonel Sato. Colonel Lina Sato worked under Uncle Iroh for many years before getting transferred to work in a colony rather than front lines," spoke Zuko as he recollected a few war stories his Uncle used to tell him.

"Then lets get help from them. I hope they could provide us with at least some soldiers, so that we could assemble the Fire Loyalist forces," spoke Korra as she smiled. Yes, this would be great. Their next stop would help Korra get more allies.

"Get some rest, I will sail this ship. I will use the stars to guide us. I remember the directions they provide from classes I took," smiled Korra as Zuko lay on the deck and soon fell asleep as Korra continued to sail the ship.

A few days passed at sea, and one day when Korra slept peacefully, Zuko woke up her. "Korra, wake up. We have arrived," spoke Zuko as the two looked at the colony. It was big. Many ships were sailing both in and out. The streets were busy.

"Come, it's time we eat some real food, and they find allies," spoke Korra as the two arrived in the harbor. The pair then jumped on the shore, and saw the city.

"So, what should we do next?" spoke puzzled Zuko as Korra was unsure what to say. Sure, she knew she needed to arrive to the colony, but she forgot to formulate the plan.

"Excuse me, is this Yu Dao?" asked Korra one guard.

"Yes it is. Are you lost, miss?"

"I just arrived here with my cousin. I need to speak with Hiroshi and Lina Sato," spoke Korra as the guard looked at them suspiciously.

"Fine, come with me," spoke the guard as he brought the two into one of the barracks. He looked at the two teenagers and looked to see who they were.

"Welcome to Yu Dao, Princess Korra and Prince Zuko. It's good to have you here. I will arrange for an Ostrich Horses to be given to you," spoke the guard as he sent a hawk.

"I informed Governor Sato of your arrival. He and his wife are looking forward to see you," spoke the guard, as the two cousins waited.

Korra and Zuko climbed on the Ostrich Horse. As they rode on the streets, the two teenagers examined the city. "It would be nice to come here one day when we don't have to deal with war," spoke Korra as the Ostrich Horse continued to run.

Suddenly, another Ostrich Horse hit the two, and upon collision, all passengers fell on the road. The two animals run away.

"Watch it," spoke Korra

"Yes, watch it, you could have seriously hurt us," agreed Zuko as the two looked at the person who collided them.

The person who collided with them was a girl around the same age as Korra. She had long raven wavy hair, and very pale skin. The girl's clothing was a mixture of red and black.

"I am so sorry, I did not mean to," spoke the girl as she helped the cousins to stand up.

Korra looked at the other girl, but was still a little suspicious of her. "Do you by any chance know how to get to the Sato mansion? I mean, we did just lose our only way of transportation," asked Korra

"You want to speak with my dad?" asked the other girl as both Korra and Zuko looked at her in confusion.

"Oh, I am sorry, my name is Asami Sato, daughter of Governor Sato and his wife Colonel Lina Sato," spoke the raven-haired girl as she extended her arm.

"Princess Korra, and this is my cousin Prince Zuko," spoke Korra as the two cousins greeted Asami.

"Wonderful. I always wanted to meet the royal family. My mother used to be great friends with your father, Princess Korra," spoke Asami

"Korra, just Korra,"

"If you say so, Korra," smiled Asami as she led them to her home.

The trio walked on the streets of a large colony. As they journeyed towards the Sato Mansion, Asami provided the two with a brief tour of the city.

"Here is a great Fire Nation restaurant," spoke Asami as she pointed to one of the shops. She then continued to show where different places in the city were.

After their lengthy walk, the three young people arrived to the Sato Mansion. It was not as big as the Fire Nation Palace, but it was huge. "Welcome to the place I call home. You can stay here as long as you wish," smiled Asami as the group entered the house. Asami then guided them to her parents' office.

"Lina, I don't think you understand what this means," spoke Hiroshi to his wife, as the group entered the office.

"Asami, darling, can you find something else to do? Your mother and I are discussing important things. Why don't you go to the workshop?" asked Hiroshi.

"Mom, Dad, Princess Korra and Prince Zuko arrived here to talk about some important stuff. They wanted to see you," spoke Asami as Korra approached Hiroshi Sato.

"It's great to meet you, Governor Sato. Colonel Sato, you used to work under my father," spoke Korra

"Korra?" smiled Lina Sato. The woman was almost identical in appearance to Asami, although Lina was much older. The Colonel had the same raven hair, pale skin, and green eyes.

"Pleasure is mine, Princess Korra. Sorry to be blunt, but what is the reason you wished to see me?" asked Hiroshi.

"Governor and Colonel Sato, both my Grandfather and my Father died recently. My Uncle Ozai stole the throne from me. I wanted to request aid from your family, especially since you were great friends with my father," spoke Korra

"Princess or should I say Fire Lord Korra," began Hiroshi.

"You can call me Korra," spoke the girl.

"Very well Korra, you see we are but one colony, and we cannot go in outright war with the rest of the Fire Nation. And we don't know whether we will get anyone who will join our side. That does not mean my wife and I wont help you, but we would need to provide help only in a different fashion," spoke Hiroshi, as Lina nodded.

"Asami, please show our guests the colony, while your mother and I come up with a plan how we will aid Korra," spoke Hiroshi as Asami nodded.

"Let's use the bathroom, and get a quick snack before we head out to explore the colony," suggested Asami as the two royal cousins nodded.

"Shouldn't we just stay in the house and wait for the plan your parents make?" asked Korra

"Don't worry, while my parents are brilliant, they need some time to think about the possibilities. We have at least a day to spend on our own in the colony," smiled Asami.

Korra smiled. While Asami seemed to be too girly for her likes, she knew at least that she got a friend and an ally who could help her defeat Ozai. After both cousins used the bathroom, and had a quick snack, the trio went to explore the city. Korra could not imagine that soon she would be faced with betrayal.

A/N: next chapter, Korra Asami and Zuko explore the city, and meet a familiar Earth Bender. I decided to retcon the scar.
