"Crossed The Line"

"Watch it"

Mr. Salvatore hissed threateningly but Edward remained unfazed when grabbing his shoulder and pushing him down to the chair. However, he continued to resist so Edward grew more forceful. "Sit down" he demanded and dug his fingers into his shoulder to shove him into the seat.

His teeth bared and his eyes wildly angry but Damon simply chuckled. "You call those fangs" he taunted and I anticipated the fangs that he now extended. As much as I had expected it, his face still scared me as it reminded me of the day he attacked.

The smirk that he once adorned fell when Edward began to wrap the rope around our hostage's hands. What frightened me was how Damon began to grind his teeth and fight back the anguished growls.

"The rope?" I wondered, my gaze darting down to his burning wrists. The pale complexion now flushed as whatever substance was in the rope irritated his skin.

Alice stepped up beside me and answered proudly. "Vervain"

"What is that?" I muttered and pressed my hands by my side, fighting the need to walk over and free him.

"Their kind's weakness" Jasper replied starkly. He was still standing by, not even trying to stop his brother. In fact, he was handing him more of the vervain ropes.

I found myself taking a step forwards but being pulled back by Alice. "Is it really necessary?"

"To restrain him, yes" she replied with a firm nod.

She wanted me to drop it so I sought out Edward's gaze, hoping to reason with him. "Well, there's eight of us, I doubt he'll be trying anything stupid" I replied and desperately searched the room for some sympathy.

Enter Carlisle.

"What do you think you're doing?" he growled, blazing eyes glaring at his son.

His presence gave me the courage that I needed as I dodged Alice and walked beside my boyfriend. "Carlisle's right" I begged, grabbing his arm. "I'm sure we can come to a decision without resorting to violence" I whispered, ignoring the blue eyes that were solely fixated onto me. "You're losing sight of yourself Edward" I added feebly.

After another minute, he stepped back, bowing his head to hide his troubled expression. I took that as him giving into defeat so I crouched down and hastily unravelled his hands, relieving our hostage from the pain. He hissed lowly and began to curl and uncurl his fingers, twisting his wrists and I watched in awe as the burns slowly began to

He caught my gaping expression and smirked, pulling me from the trance. Instead, I reached up and grabbed his chin firmly, forcing him to look at me. "Try anything and I may actually kill you this time" I warned and pushed myself up to my feet.

The Cullens were obviously surprised by this but Edward grinned proudly. Mr. Salvatore simply hitched an eyebrow and I was about to comment but was interrupted with the loud howling in the distance.

Several head whipped around frantically and wild glances were shared before we all looked towards the door. Instantly it was knocked down and the large figure stormed into the room. Wide and bewildered charcoal eyes landed on the prisoner. "YOU!" Jacob growled in rage and within seconds, he had him crossed the room, trying to punch him/

Damon was quick as he ducked in time for the fist to hit the wall. Esme cried out at the dent now formed into her plastered wall. She grew more worried as Jacob tackled him down, almost crashing into the coffee table.

Before any more damage could be done, I moved in between them. The guy has only been in town for two days and already had the wolves and the cold ones against him. Must be some kind of supernatural track record. He sure was one hell of a guy.

"Move Bella" Jake demanded and I turned to glare.

"No!"

"Move!" he snarled and I placed a hand over his chest, only to realise he was bleeding. "What the hell happened?" I demanded, withdrawing and numbly inspecting the bruises.

He no longer looked at me as his eyes had drifted to the person behind me. "Paul's injured" he revealed and I dropped my head, sending a silent prayer for his safety. "All because of that bloodsucker" Jake began to move around me again but I pushed back.

"Jacob – stop" I demanded, suddenly frightened.

I was surprised when he listened and halted his movements. His rage was now overwhelmed with his suspicion as he narrowed his eyes. "Why are you protecting him?" he muttered.

"I-I'm not" I hastily stammered, chancing a glance towards a frowning Edward. "Believe me, nothing would bring me greater pleasure than slapping him about…" I paused to face Damon, wishing I could wipe the smirk off his face. "…but we need answers. Answers that only he can give us" I took a step back when I was sure they wouldn't attack each other.

"Like…" Jake urged.

I crossed my arms and stared at Damon, studying his physique and wishing I could stop being so curious. "Like how they can walk in the sunlight?" I murmured.

Damon raised a brow and then laughed, "Why? Are you tired of sparkles?" he jested, leaving Edward growling in frustration.

"Okay, both of you calm down" I snapped and cautiously walked to the centre of the room as to anticipate any attacks. "We need to know if there any more of him? Why they're here…?" I explained tiredly. This whole day was exhausting and I couldn't wait to go to bed. However, my mind had other plans as it wanted to sit here and pick at our nomad's brain. The other part of me was so angry that someone had been injured
