The Reunion

He remembered her last words so vividly. It haunted him, her words and that day. The day he lost his beloved wife. She was strong and determined, yet caring and gentle; the perfect balance. He remembered every detail that made her, her. From her voice, to her movement, even to the way she learnt various strategies from the endless pile of books, which he found hard to pull her away from. But that was who she was. A devoted mother, a loyal friend and a loving wife.

He longed to see her again. He dedicated much of his time to finding his lost wife with the aid of his sister. Yet he was often divided between his duties as the Exalt and his own personal desires. He could softly hear his wife saying, "You have a responsibility to you realm. Do not worry about me, you must put the people fire." He chuckled, but it brought back a flood of memories and emotions reminding him of what was. Their first kiss, his proposal, their wedding, and the time he walked in on her bathing; a memory he was secretly fond of. It saddened him, these memories. For so long, he would always believe she was out there somewhere, but as time went by his hope withered slowly away. He could act strong in front of people, but when he was alone he would sometimes cry softly in silence.

He'd searched high and low, and was nearly at the stage of giving up. Were Naga's words only a lost fool's hope? He decided, he would do one last search, back to the place where he first met his wife. He remembered how odd he thought it was to see a maiden asleep in the open fields. The field had not changed, in contrast to how much things had changed for him and those around him. He seemed somewhat frighten to walk through the field, in fear of disappointment. Oh, but how he was wrong.

If by chance or a miracle, it didn't matter to him in any way, but there she was. Lying in the field as if his memory was being replayed to him. He stood there frozen in utter shock and disbelief; happiness and rejoice swelled through him as he began to become blinded by his teary eyes. Gaining courage he ran to her, dropping to her side in an instance, quickly rapturing her body in his arms. His sudden movement woke her from her slumber. Seeing her stir in his grip, he loosened it to reveal his wife's eyes sparkling in delight to see him.

"Welcome back, it's over now," he said softly. Waiting a moment to take everything, in he exploded all of his memories and emotion into a long waited kiss between the two.
