As I'm sure most of you are aware, Dragonearth has been more or less on a permanent hiatus for a while now, and I've decided I may as well make it official: I won't be continuing this story any longer, for a number of reasons. For those of you who waited so patiently for the story to continue, I offer my condolences and I'll go ahead and explain why I'm dropping the story in addition to giving you guys essentially a layout of what would have happened had I chosen to continue writing it.

So Fairy Tail as a manga ended a couple of years ago and I could not bring myself to enjoy the series whatsoever after that horrendous conclusion. In my personal opinion, it was one of the worst endings I have ever seen written for a series and world that had so much potential and it really hurt my affection for the franchise.

The second reason I dropped the series is because how toxic the Fairy Tail fandom became. That's not to say every fan is toxic and I know most of you guys are probably not amongst the few that I'm talking about, but there have been some uber toxic people I've had to deal with over the years since I was introduced to Fairy Tail, more so than any other fandom, and I just got fed up with it. It's not fair to you guys that are good fans and aren't toxic, but my loss in interest in Fairy Tail following the terrible ending of the manga plus the toxicity of a decently sized sect of the community just ruined the series for me. I've found my writing spark in a few other series that caught my attention, and that's just part of growing.

Now that's not to say there's no hope for Dragonearth. I was asked a few months back by Blacksoundwave if he could adopt the story and continue it, and he received my permission to do so, though I'm not sure how much progress he's made. For that matter if anyone else also wishes to adopt or write their own take on Dragonearth, just let me know and we can sort it out :)

For those of you who waited so patiently for Dragonearth to continue, I'm really sorry about this. The most I can offer you is my condolences and in a moment, you'll get to see a simple summary about what would have happened had I chosen to continue the story.

I wrote this summary years ago, so the quality is average, but it's all I've got.

Essentially, Natsu and Lisanna would have started a secret relationship that would result in Lisanna eventually laying their eggs in secret at the waterfall cave. Unfortunately, Laxus would have tracked down the scent of the eggs while Natsu and Lisanna were away at Magnolia, and he would have returned to boast about destroying the nest of a rival.

Shortly after, Makarov's health would decline and he would allow Laxus to take over as the leader of the Thunder. During the leadership ceremony, Laxus chooses Lisanna to be his mate in order to ensure her loyalty and to put Natsu in his place. That's the last straw for Natsu, who furiously challenges Laxus for control of the Thunder. The challenge is brought to the attention of the Dragon Council, and Gran Doma oversees the event.

The two of them battle violently, with Natsu eventually coming out on top until the match is interrupted by Laxus's father, Ivan, who is allowed to participate due to his own claim to the Thunder. He battles on Laxus's behalf and defeats the already exhausted Natsu, claiming his life for his own uses, but declaring that since Laxus lost, he's not yet fit for leadership. Gran Doma accepts the results and Ivan takes Natsu away with the rest of the Raven Tail Thunder, leaving Lisanna and Lucy in anguish.

As they make their way to the home of the Dragon Slavers, Edolas, Smaug hunts them down and attacks viciously. He slaughters several other dragons including Nullpudding, Obra, and Alexei, but is eventually brought down when Ivan rips through his wing, causing Smaug to fall to his death.

With Smaug's death, nine years pass. Fiore hears with great wariness that Acnologia has left the Southern Continent and is beginning to skirt the edges of their territory.

Lucy and Layla receive word that Edolas is planning to use Natsu at the head of a draconic army to take down Fiore, and hatch a plan with Fairy Tail and several other Thunders to bring the fight to them and free the imprisoned dragons. Lucy infiltrates the capital with Dragion and manages to find Natsu, who has been turned into little more than a feral predator that fights in the dragon pits under the command of a Dragon Slaver called Knightwalker. They watch as he kills another dragon in combat with ridiculous ease, for Natsu has grown massive over the last nine years and his powers have grown tremendously. Lucy confirms with that single display that Natsu possesses the Alpha Drake gene.

She sneaks to the cages one night in order to meet with Natsu and tries to reach out to him via their Soul Bond, but Natsu does not recognize her and almost impales Lucy on his claws through the bars, having lost his voice. His fury wakes up the rest of the prison and causes Lucy to be captured by Knightwalker. Dragion witnesses Lucy's capture and immediately reports it to the waiting Thunders just outside of the city limits, who make the decision to invade the city then and there.

As the attack begins, Knightwalker rides out on Natsu, who lunges into his former comrades and immediately clashes with Laxus, Gray, and Gajeel. Gajeel tries and fails to reach his former comrade as Natsu chases Gray and burns the Ice Drake badly. He's barely saved by Juvia's intervention, but both of them are forced to retreat when Natsu quite nearly kills them. Laxus, still holding no small amount of hatred for the Fire Drake, fights him viciously, but the difference in power between them is far greater than it had been nine years before. In a display of overwhelming might, Natsu takes hold of Laxus in the air and then bathes him in dragon fire, leaving the Lightning Dragon on the verge of death.

As the Thunders struggle against Natsu and the Slaver Army, Levy and Lisanna manage to free Lucy with help from Dragion and approach the battlefield to try and stop Natsu, who has landed so Knightwalker can command her troops on the ground. Knightwalker commands Natsu to slaughter the two dragonelles, and he quickly chases Levy off. Lisanna holds her ground though and tries to reason with him.

Lucy once more attempts to reach Natsu via their Soul Bond, but Natsu furiously rejects her and almost knocks Lucy unconscious with the force of his rage. Lisanna moves Lucy away in order to keep her safe as she carefully approaches Natsu, who is way, but curious of her behavior. He eventually catches her scent and it upsets him, because it's something he knows, but just cannot remember.

Realizing that Natsu is slipping from her grasp, Knightwalker orders her soldiers to attack Lisanna, only for Natsu to spin around with venom in his eyes and incinerate all of them into ashes. Gone rogue, he's more dangerous than ever and Lucy realizes with despair that should he start attacking again, he'll just burn everyone around them regardless of whether or not they are an ally.

Lisanna manages to regain his attention and finally reaches Natsu to touch her nose to his. Her voice steadies him and he watches her curiously, but their reunion ends there when a terrible roar splits the air.

Acnologia has arrived to the battlefield, having tracked Natsu's Alpha scent all the way to Edolas. Screaming in fury, Natsu leaves Lisanna and Lucy behind to charge the black dragon in the air. The Thunders and Slaver dragons scramble to flee as the pair of Titans collide violently.

Natsu and Acnologia fight one another with the utmost savagery, spilling the blood of their hated foe into the air like a summer downpour. The two of them eventually separate and unleash energy blasts from their mouths, vaporizing a large portion of the city.

Natsu lunges through the cloud of debris and slams his horns into Acnologia's gut, shattering the dragon's ribs. Roaring in hate, Acnologia retaliates by slashing into his flank, starting another bout of aerial close-combat. Eventually, Acnologia grasps Natsu's left foreleg in his jaws and crushes the bone, causing Natsu to scream in pain.

Now in a frenzy, Natsu buries his fangs into Acnologia's neck as deeply as he can and pulls the enemy dragon out of the sky and down to earth. They crash into the castle roof and impact the marble floors from hundreds of feet up. The collision breaks Acnologia's neck and spine, killing him instantly. Natsu receives a devastating wound to his left wing and part of his tail is almost severed off, but he is the dragon who raises his head and screams his victory. Not long after that, Natsu stumbles away from Acnologia's dead body and collapses.

Porlysuca arrives after the battle has concluded and declares that Natsu will live, but he might never regain the memories he lost after being abused and controlled under the command of the Dragon Slavers, who are now all prisoners of war. While Layla and Lucy are forced to sort out the politics of the situation with Princess Hisui, Lisanna stays with Natsu so she can help him recover.

After his wounds have healed, Natsu chooses to just go wherever Lisanna does, but he is still unable to speak. Makarov accepts him back into the Thunder despite what happened with Laxus, but only permits if it Natsu restrains himself from killing the Lightning Dragon. Lisanna promises on Natsu's behalf that it won't come to that, and Natsu is content to simply accept that.

A year passes and Natsu has been recovering steadily, but he has yet to regain his memories or his voice. Lisanna one day takes him to their Waterfall Cave and he regains enough of his memory to speak again, but they both know that Natsu won't ever fully recover from his ordeal. They return to the Thunder and Natsu tells Makarov that he is going to travel to the Southern Continent to find the Fire Dragon Kingdom and inform them that Acnologia is dead. Lisanna volunteers to go with him, as does Lucy. Makarov allows it and admits to Natsu that Gran Doma has been weary of the Fire Drake due to his Alpha status, but suggests that perhaps traveling back and forth between Fiore and the Southern Continent might be a good compromise. Natsu accepts as long as he is allowed to take Lisanna as his mate, which Makarov also accepts by innocently suggesting that by not necessarily being a part of the Thunders, he doesn't exactly have to follow their rules.

Lucy finds out that Kagura intends to come along with them, as she wants to see parts of her old home. Lucy also tells Dragion to wait for her to return, as the two have been steadily building a relationship over the last few years. Layla and Levy assure Lucy that they will keep Magnolia safe until they all come back.

Mira and Elfman wish Lisanna the best, with the former teasing her over her closeness to Natsu, and request that she visit often. Natsu, meanwhile, promises Wendy to keep searching for her mother Grandine, while Gajeel gruffly tells him that he'll just go find Metalicana when he feels like it.

Natsu, Lisanna, Lucy, and Kagura finally leave Fiore and travel South to Natsu's old home. On the trip, Natsu and Lisanna rekindle their bond as mates with a Skyfall, and the story concludes with the hope that they might have another nest to care for in the not-so-distant future.

I know this was very rushed you guys, and I know it'll never make up for the story being written in detail, but this is the best I have to offer now. Thank you very much those of you who enjoyed the story for what it was and I wish you all the best.

Thank you all for reading the story!
