30 minutes remain on the clock by the time Connor and I gather up 15 roses and return to sorority row.
"Thirteen sorority houses, thirty minutes, we have to split up if we want to make it on time." Connor says with calculating eyes.
"But I have no idea what we're doing, man!" The thought of speaking in front of 200 girls scared me.
"Fine, we'll do the first house together." Connor says glancing at his watch as we walk to the first house.
He knocks on the giant blue door and after a few seconds a girl in pink pajamas opens the door.
She glances at the roses, "Who are you here for?"
Connor elbows me in the arm. Since when was I supposed to take the lead?
"We're actually here for everyone," I say.
She looks Connor and I up and down.
"One second." She closes the door in our faces.
"This is taking pretty long man," I say to Connor.
"Well if you weren't such a baby we'd be able to split up and do this alone."
"Oh like you showed such courage a few moments ago," I chuckle.
Then the door opens, revealing beautiful girls with expectant looks on their faces.
Connor and I awkwardly stand their in silence. I realize that Connor isn't going to step up to the plate so I clear my throat.
"Ladies of Alpha Beta Chi, I cordially invite you to the football house tonight at..." I quickly glance at my watch, "8 pm for a party."
I pause and glance at the roses, "As a token of respect towards you lovely ladies, I present to you a rose."
The girls uniformly let out an "awww".
Connor speaks up, "This rose is a preview of the Bachelor inspired rose that Zach will reward to one lucky lady tonight. Whichever lady wins the eye of this dashingly handsome man will be given a rose along with a dinner with USC's very own starting quarter back. You will only be eligible for this fine prize if you make it to the house by 8 pm."
I begin to speak saying that his claims we not true, but Connor quickly turns and pulls me away from the house before we have the chance to say anything.
"I didn't agree on that man," I reflect on the embarrassment.
"I know buddy, but it's the only way to get girls to be someplace in under half an hour."
"Fine," I sigh, "So are we splitting up now?"
"Yeah man, we got 25 minutes!"
I jog to the next house and knock on the door. Two girls answer the door.
"Can we help you?" They ask.
I repeat the same script as before.
By the time I get to my seventh house, I have 5 minutes remaining.
I spew out the same script but instead of saying the time I simply say, "Come as you are and follow me."
A group of girls follow me. I quickly count to see that it was actually more than fourteen. I should have just come to this house I thought to myself. Then, I glance down sorority row and see groups of girls leaving the house and heading in the direction of the football house. I can not believe that Connor's plan worked.
As I enter the house with my group of girls and Connor with his group of girls, we find the other freshmen lined up in front of Brad. The girls disperse themselves throughout the party.
"Did you get enough girls?" My teammate, Kyle whispers to me.
"Yeah man what about you?"
"No, I only got two, I'm so screwed man."
"Well freshman," Brad says in a slurred tone, "Looking around the party I see you all brought enough girls and I'm too drunk to count. So I guess you all pass. But don't think the next task will be this easy."
We all split before he has the chance to change his mind or put any of us on sober duty,
