A/N: I'm really sorry for the year or more wait, but I've been busier than normal. The usual stuff you get after a hiatus. I've re-read this and thought it wasn't so great. This is perfect, actually. I really want to improve and therefore writing and writing will help. I hope that eventually I can see my improvement. I first started with REALLY bad stuff, but cheers to the future!

Anyway, this will be the first post of today and of the return. I'm really hoping to tie up this fic that's 4 or so chapters...

TK POV:

I'm nervous and I don't know why. We're supposed to be best friends that can talk about everything. It feels awkward going about this. A block from Mimi's and I feel as though it's taken a year.

I felt a tug at my sleeve, "Are you sure you don't want to tell me where we're going?"

"You'll see soon enough, hopefully you'll like it," I say nervously. "But if you don't like it, we can go somewhere else."

I look up, unsure if this is good enough. I never understood that cliché where you like your best friend, but the first date was awkward. I didn't think that'd be me. I think it's better to have doubts about this than not.

"TK, it'll be fine," she says. "You already asked me out, you've gotten through the hard part. It's all smooth sailing now."

I look back down at her. This girl decided to date me.

"I'm one lucky guy, huh?"

She smiles at me, "I guess you are. You ARE one of many who want to date me."

I feel a tiny bit less nervous.

Very tongue-in-cheekily I say, "What makes me so special, then?"

"You happen to be the only guy who could take me for me." I'm a little surprised. "I know some guys want to date me, but they won't understand me as much as you do. It's like you're my other half."

I smile, "Maybe that's why we met. Back then we were brought together because we were the youngest. We sought out to find ourselves, but we found something better. Finding something you weren't looking for is always more rewarding." I pause as we cross one final street. "Instead of finding ourselves, I found you and you found me. No longer were we the siblings of Yamato and Taichi, we were Takeru and Hikari."

She's quiet.

I laugh, "That sounded REALLY cheesy!"

"Don't worry, I love cheesy."

We finally arrived at our destination.

"Well, we're here." I point out the obvious

3rd person

~~~~~~~Flashback~~~~~~

"Keru! I give up, I can't find you!" An 8 year old Hikari yells.

Her recently new friend, whom she met through a very odd way, was on a play date with her. In fact, this was one of many before their summer vacation ended.

They were at the local park near the Yagami's. Takeru would stay at his father's house with his older brother, Yamato. Due to the friendship between Hikari and Takeru, their older brothers became better friends. The four even had sleepovers together.

To start this day, the young duo were playing a game of hide and seek. Takeru had won the coin toss so he hid first. Hikari had been looking for 10 minutes and hadn't found him. She felt as though she searched everywhere. Her mother would just point out a direction which helped, but not very much.

Soon Hikari took a break and wanted a snack. She munched on a cereal bar.

"Can I have a piece?" Asked Takeru from behind the bench.

Hikari wasn't expecting this and screamed a bit. She gladly handed half of the bar to Takeru and struck up conversation.

In between bites she said "Keru! Where were you? I've been looking forever!"

Takeru laughed, "I'll show you! It's a really cool hiding place."

Takeru grabbed her arm and the two of them started running towards a tree.

Hikari was confused, "Keru, this is just a normal tree!"

Takeru jumped into a hole and vanished from Hikari's sight. She worriedly followed and slowly slid down.

Hikari started searching the surprisingly lit area for her playmate. She suddenly started shivering. Now aware of her surroundings, she turned around and tackled the boy behind her.

"Oww, how'd you get me that time?" cried the young lad.

The two got up before the brunette could reply, "You had me at first, but you gave it away when you started blowing on my neck!"

Takeru sighed in defeat, "You know I like doing that! You look so funny whenever you shiver. It's like you're dancing!" Takeru put on his signature hat. "So here's the place."

Hikari couldn't help but smile. The place was an eight year old's dream. "What is this place?" The girl questioned.

A/N:

I really hate to cut this off short, but I last minute decided to make the date multi-chaptered.

Also, take this as a promise. A promise that I'll continue this and we will finish this together! YOU the dedicated reader will soon regret any doubts you've ever had. I guarantee you that this fic will finish in two weeks' time at most. If it doesn't finish, I will give you all a big virtual cookie as an apology. Prepare for another fic when this is done. I am really sorry to have kept anyone waiting. I considered abandoning this, but I can't do that when I say that I hate when that happens! The recent Digimon hype really helps. (Just have to say that you guys all get the giant cookie of the virtual variety. Thanks for sticking with me through this, and the next chapter is going up as soon as possible.)

I will most likely upload this on the final hour of Odaiba Day, so there's that.

OtA: Well, it's been a while since I've done an author's note.

Yamato: Why are they referred to as Takeru and Hikari when they are TK and Kari in other chapters?

OtA: That's due to this being in the past. TK and Kari are still going through early stages of friendship. Kari calls him Keru as an early friendship nickname that eventually evolves. She wanted to be special and wants to be the only one who doesn't call him TK.

Taichi: Are you REALLY going to continue this?

OtA: Well, the hype around your new series is helpful. I promise that I will, OK?

Ken: Hello readers, I will be appearing more in OtA's work.

OtA: Dammit Ken, You gave it away already? I would talk more, but this might be really lengthy. Say the line, Ken.

Ken: OtA is sincerely sorry for the length of this chapter and promises to raise it next chapter. I heard he's going to make it 10K words.

OtA: SERIOUSLY KEN? I guess if that's wh-

Keru: No! I don't wanna make you try so hard and stress you out with 10K words! If it's 10K then that's cool, but don't worry about it, OtA

OtA: This is why you're my favorite character

Yamato: You wrote him like that...

OtA: Well... thank you Takeru..?

Keru: No problem OtA! Just make sure Yama gets screen time in the next fic ;D

OtA: Stop hinting at stuff!

Yama: I get screen time?

Keru: PEACE!
