It's finally chapter 7! YAy!

'Bzz...Bzz...'

'Bzz...Bzz...'

Gajeel shifted in his couch, instantly irritated. 'Who in their right mind would be calling at this time of night.'

Lifting himself to a sitting position Gajeel reached out for his phone. He grumbled incoherent words 'work at the police station had been overwhelming lately'; and the one time he had a break, someone had to interrupt his relaxation time. Also he just happened to be in the middle of dreaming about the new rookie that was transferred to his station. She crowded his mind often, he could help but call her 'shrimp' when she was near him.

Glaring at his phone menacingly his expression soon dropped, his phone blinked Juvia's name. He knew that she rarely ever used her phone, so something must have happened.

"Rain women! What is it this time." His voice sounded angry, however worry was etched on his face.

"Hey, um, this is Gray."

" Who!" Gajeel's voice rose in anger. "You little shit, why do ya have Juvia's phone."

"Something happened." Gray's voice echoed through the phone. "I didn't know who else I could call so you're my only option. Now hurry up, Juvia needs you."

"What did you do." Gajeel practically spat.

"Dude, just hurry up and get here."

A rapid knocking soon interrupted Gray's trance. His mind was racing at maximum speed. 'Why did this keep happening?" As he answered the door he was quickly pushed aside, by a not so happy Gajeel.

"Where is she?" Gajeel basically growled.

"On the couch." Gray pointed to the living room.

Immediately Gajeel headed towards the living room. What he saw shocked him, Juvia was a teary mess. Her body continuously shaking and convulsing. The scene now, reminded him of that time he came and rescued her out 'that house'.

Gajeel turned towards Gray, the intensity of his red eyes glimmered in the light of the room.

"Oi, what happened?" Gajeel spat. He had nowhere else to place his anger so he decided to fully unleash it onto Gray.

Gray sat on the arm of the couch with his arms crossed, he really wasn't in the mood for Gajeel's attitude but this guy was the only one that could help him.

"Nothing much," Gray finally spoke up. "We were at the pool, and then I think she called me Gray-sama. Anyway's after that she started freaking out and slipped into the pool. She's been like that since I got her out."

Gajeel was quiet the whole time Gray talked. He understood what happened, but he didn't know what he could do to comfort her. He wasn't really the comforting type.

Gajeel heaved a heavy sigh. "Alright, kid just go home for the night. I'll take over from here."

"Wait, you expect me to just leave." Gray stood up from his seat, anger fueling through him. "I think it's about time you tell me what's going on."

"Hell no." Gajeel quickly retorted with just as much anger as Gray.

"And why not?" Gray questioned.

Gajeel was silent for a few seconds, contemplating everything in his head. The anger melted away from his voice."It's not my place to tell you."

Gray stared at the overly broad man, every passing second his own anger dissipated. He was just confused, and wanted to know what was going on.

"It doesn't look like Juvia will be talking anytime soon," Gray stated.

"You're a real noisy bastard, you know," said Gajeel.

"Whatever!" Gray huffed," Just tell me what's going on, it may not seem like it but I wanna help her out."

Gajeel smirked, "Geehee, looks like the ice-prick's in love."

Gray turned his face away from the red-eyed man, with a faint blush dusting his cheek. "Shut it!"

Gajeel sat at on the coffee table -that was positioned right in front of the couch- he stared a Juvia's face. Relieved that her shaking had ceased.

"It would of been better for the rain woman to tell ya this, but I guess I could tell ya. No point in making her relive it."

Gajeel sighed, this wasn't really the kind of story he wanted to share with outsiders. However, at time when he wouldn't be able to protect Juvia, he hoped that Gray could fill in for him.

"Alright, well if you don't know, Juvia has been in and out of the adoption agency since she was young," Gajeel started.

"Yeah, I know. She talked to me about that," added Gray.

"Oi,you gonna listen or what. No interrupting-

"Fine, fine. Continue," Gray said while fixing himself of the arm of the couch.

"As, I was saying..." Gajeel began again.

At the very small age of 6 Juvia got adopted for the first time. While living in the orphanage for such a long period of time she had problems interacting with the other children in her new family. Her adoptive family thought she was strange, she never asked for anything and she usually played by herself.

Eventually the family distanced themselves from Juvia. The other children would call her gloomy and depressing, they even went as far as calling her a witch because of the many times she could come home drenched with water even though it would be bright and sunny outside. In reality she just went for a swim in a nearby pond.

The family soon sent her back.

Then at the age of 9, she was adopted again. This time she had a loving family, but that was only on the surface. Like clockwork every night at 10 pm her adoptive father would come into her room. He would tell her how pretty she was, and dress her up in the nicest clothes. Then he'd beat her senseless, his reasoning being that she looked familiar to a lost love of his. But Juvia didn't care, most nights she would block out the pain.

About a year passed and a social worker visited the home, evidently they found the multiple bruises cascading through Juvia's body. The man put up a fight, however in the end he lost. After that Juvia was taken back to the orphanage, since she was now 10 years old it would be harder for her to get adopted. But she loved the idea of staying in the orphanage than trusting another foreign family.

At age 13 the orphanage announced it was closing down, so the focus was more on getting out the younger children to loving families. But since Juvia was much older than the rest of the kids, they gave her to the family that had the most wealth.

That's when Juvia met Bora of Prominence. He was the second son of his family, 14 years old, with a wicked sadistic side. She was basically the families slave. Bora beat her, scarred her, broke down her psyche, and he enjoyed every minute of it. Luckily he never physically touched her in that way. He told her that he was saving her for later, so he could enjoy her when she was fully ripe.

Juvia stupidly fell in "like" with Bora, after all he was the only person during her life that gave her special attention. Even if that attention was far from healthy. Since she was in the role of maid and servant with him, she gave him the suffix 'sama'. It was the only way she could show her admiration of him, and like the sick man he was he enjoyed every second.

To Bora the time when Juvia had fully ripened was her sixteenth birthday, he treated her like a princess. Until it became time for him to give her his 'present'. It seem all the randomly placed phone calls to Gajeel had worked in her favor because that night she was saved. Before anything could happen to her, Gajeel and a swarm of policemen surrounded the rained heavily that day. Unfortunately, Bora had escaped.

After a couple of months Juvia was given to another family. However, since she seemed unhealthily gloomy they decided to pack up and leave. They told her they'd send money to her, which they did, but it still ended up being a lonely life.

Throughout her life Juvia had been struggling mentally and physically, any normal person would have ended it long ago.

"It's surprising that at times she can be so happy and joyful." Gajeel finished. He turned towards her now sleeping face.

Gray let out a breath that he didn't know he was holding.

"So, when she accidentally calls me by 'sama' that means she..."

"Not important!" Gajeel huffed." But yeah, it means she really likes you."

When the school bell first rang, Gray had not noticed. He sat in his seat quietly, only responded when he was called on. Even when Natsu decided to challenge Gray to one of their usual morning brawls, Gray simply walked passed him.

After what Gajeel told him yesterday, he didn't want to leave Juvia's side. Obviously he pitied her, how could he not. But an extreme wave of over-protectiveness engulfed him. He was later forced out the house by Gajeel, but only after promising that Gajeel would not leave until Juvia had woken up.

By lunch time Gray was fully engrossed in his thoughts. One moment he felt happy and fuzzy because he found out that Juvia shared feelings for him. Then he felt that feeling morphing into anger, because those feelings were also hurting her.

This was one situation he had no idea how to handle, and the only thing that kept ringing through his head is something his late mother Ul use to tell him.

"In the confusion of life and love, love always tends to win."

He didn't really get what it had to do with his predicament now, but he somehow knew it was important.

Lucy and Natsu watched Gray carefully as different emotions displayed across his face like a slideshow.

"Do you think he's worried about something?" Lucy asked Natsu while nudging his arm.

"It's probably about Juvia right, lately that's all it's been." Natsu commented back.

"You should talk to him," Lucy stated. "You are his best friend.

Natsu gave a casual sigh. "Fine, let's go."

"Yo, snow queen. What's up." Natsu yelled to get Gray's attention.

Gray scowled coldly towards Natsu. He really wasn't in the mood." What is it?"

"What's going on, you look like someone died." Natsu playfully interjected.

By the look on Gray's face Lucy could tell that Gray wasn't comfortable with where the subject was going, so she decided to intervene.

"Come'on Natsu, I'm sure Gray's just worried about the race tomorrow."

Gray quickly raised an eyebrow. "What race?"

Lucy lightly giggled. "The swim meet tomorrow, remember."

Gray stood up from his chair with lightening speed. "That's tomorrow!" Gray shouted.

Quickly gathering his things he raced to the pool, only having to run back to a stunned Natsu and Lucy.

"If any of the teachers ask tell them I'm sick or something."

He then proceeded to run back to the pool with only one thing on his mind. He had to win tomorrow, not for him but for Juvia.

The door bell echoed throughout the house. Juvia slowly hobbled over to the door.

"Juvia will be there in a minute."

She had spoken to Gajeel-kun this morning, he told her about what happened last night. He also mentioned that he told Gray about

her past. She cried all morning, the last thing she wanted was for him to know.

Quickly wiping her puffy eyes, she calmed herself down. She froze after opening the door.

"Well hey there Juvia. Aren't you gonna invite me in."

"Bora-sama," Juvia gasped.

She suddenly went to close the door, but his foot blocked the way. Bora pushed himself inside the house, grabbing onto Juvia.

She struggled, but there wasn't much she could do with a sprained leg.

After a few more struggles she felt something smother her face, it soon became hard to breath.

She then blacked out.
