So... Welcome to my first fanfiction ever! This story takes place after Sasuke kills his brother, but he does not find out the actual story about Itachi. Also, this isn't an AU story but it doesn't really follow the whole... ninja kicking ninja ass thing you know what I mean?

A few warnings for you all:

1. This is a Yaoi, BoyxBoy story so if you no likey, then you know.. leave. please.

2. Slight Sakura bashing in further chapters.

3. Like I said, this is my first fanfic ever so I suck and there are probably going to be grammar mistakes I overlooked. Happens to the best of us right?

4. This story, even not being finished, is always being under construction.

Alright, I think that's it.

It was a cool day in December. The freezing weather never started in these parts so early at the end of the year. Even so, the air was cold enough for villagers to start gathering firewood and shopping for Christmas. The ninjas of this village weren't as festive however. Most of them were away on missions, some short term and some long. Some were training, and others were coming home. But there was one ninja who had been home for too long and was ready to get back out there.

Naruto Uzumaki was never one for celebrating holidays such as this. Giving the fact that he's always been alone since he was born, he never once put up a Christmas tree. Not willingly of course. He would much rather prefer being somewhere else kicking someone's ass than be reminded of his solitude and at this very moment, he was so anxious to do something exhilarating that he couldn't bare it.

"When they get back, can we travel somewhere far? Or even assist a really important prince over to his homeland?!" he asked the Hokage eagerly.

"Naruto... When something comes up.. I will let you know but your team isn't getting back for about another 3 days. So just take it easy alright?" She held her forehead in her hand at the headache she was now getting.

"But, but... Lady Tsunade-"

"You are the only ninja I know who would rather be out in this weather rather than spend the day at home relaxing. Have you heard of R&R? You should try it sometime."

Suddenly, a loud bang caused everyone in the room to turn toward the door. Everyone's eyes widened in shock to the sight that appeared before them. Said team had just walked into the office, but it was the sight of Sasuke, unconscious, on Kakashi's back that changed the entire feel of the room.

It's been 3 years since the fateful day Naruto's dear friend Sasuke left on the path of Revenge... 3 long years of wanting to save him and bring him home.

and there he was.

The room fell silent for what felt like the longest moment of anticipation.

Finally breaking the uncomfortable silence, Lady Tsunade stood from her desk, taking in the sight as if it was too good to be true. She could tell Sasuke wasn't in good condition judging by his blood stained clothes and marks on his face.

"Shizune, get Sasuke to the hospital. Call 3 Anbu to guard the room." She commanded.

"Yes m'lady." Shizune replied as she left the office, Shikamaru standing outside, surprised himself, took Sasuke from Kakashi and headed toward the hospital.

All the people in Konoha who witnessed Sasuke's arrival were already talking about it. This was, after all, a very big topic in this village. The news of the Uchiha Clan survivor traveled instantly.

Sai closed the door and they all took a few steps forward. Sakura's eyes was red as she looked down at the floor, holding one hand in the other. Naruto and Tsunade could tell she had shed tears before arriving. It was only to be expected with knowing her infatuation of the unconscious boy.

"Well…?" The Hokage spoke, eyes staring into them demanding for an explanation. Kakashi began to speak, "Sasuke succeeded in killing Itachi Uchiha. We found him unconscious at the battle site... Itachi's body was no where to be found."

Naruto felt a tightening in his chest. So he really did go through with it… he thought to himself.

Tsunade sighed, sitting back down into her seat. "I see…" she rested her head in her hand, eyes closed as she began to think of what to do next.

"He's badly injured, m'lady," Sakura looked up to the desk, "If it's okay… I would like to.."

"No Sakura." The Hokage interrupted her. "I'll take care of him. For now, I'd suggest you keep a bit of a distance till I confirm it's safe to be around him." Sakura's head dropped back down. She tightened her hold on her other hand. "Yes m'lady." she said quietly, almost inaudible.

Naruto didn't know how to react. He wasn't sure rather he should be happy that he was back, or to feel defeated that he couldn't stop Sasuke from killing Itachi. He understood Sasuke's feelings for revenge, and he had accepted that Sasuke would always hate his older brother, but deep down, he always thought that maybe, just maybe, he could save Sasuke from the revenge, the hatred, from himself.

Kakashi was eyeing Naruto as he stood in thought. "Naruto.." Kakashi spoke up.

Naruto raised his head, "Yeah?" he said casually.

"Are you alright?" Kakashi's eyebrow twitched.

Naruto hesitated before answering. Everyone in the room was waiting for his reply. He honestly didn't know what to say, but he didn't want to talk about it. At least, not now..

He put on a small grin and forced out a, "I'm just glad he's finally home."

The Hokage sighed once again. Everyone could see through that fake grin of his, but no one thought it was their place to further question him.

"Alright," Tsunade spoke as she rose up from her desk again. "I'm going to go head down and take a look at him. Like I said before, don't go and see him till I say it's okay. That goes for all of you." her glance switched at Naruto, as did Kakashi. Naruto nodded acknowledging her orders.

Team 7 had went home that night and could not get a good night's rest. Sai rested on his bed thinking deeply about all the team members' faces. The moment they all found Sasuke's body, even meeting him before, it felt like the first time once again. He was a touchy topic indeed, he knew this all to well. For today, the first time he saw a look on Naruto's face that he wasn't sure he'd ever want to see again.

That look of a fake smile. Those fake smiles that Sai was a professional at. He noticed it the moment before he even formed it on his face. He had realized at that moment that faking your way through your heart crushing, mind confusing, and emotionally messed up moments was not always the answer.

Sakura couldn't hold in the tears that she held onto for such a long time. The Uchiha that she was so in love with was finally back home and all she could do was nothing.

She couldn't do anything.

Kakashi decided to distract himself from his own self by reading over his mighty entertaining love stories. Though on this particular night... they weren't so entertaining as usual..

As for Naruto, he gazed out of his window in the darkness of his room. The only light that shined in was from the moon. As he stared out lost in his own thoughts, he began to make some conclusions for the better of his mental health. His first conclusion: he couldn't change what Sasuke did. He could only accept it. The past was the past and he knew better than anyone that dwelling on the twisted fate of the past would only cause more harm than good.

His second conclusion: To be happy that his best friend was home. That's what he's been wanting for 3 years now. The moment was finally here. He could finally patch things up and build that bond back to the way it was. Though for this blond, nothing had ever changed. He still felt the same way about Sasuke as he always did and that was inevitable.

First thing in the morning, Naruto went to get information about Sasuke's condition, unable to contain himself with the Hokage's previous orders. She was expecting him, not the slightest bit surprised when Naruto came barging in asking about him. She knew him like the back of his hand, that predictable ninja he was...

"Sasuke's fine. Our medical team healed all his injuries…" her voice started to trail off. "but…"

"But what?" Naruto said, feeling anxious now. He stood there panting at the loss of breath from arriving at the tower as fast as he did.

"Due to his over use of the Sharingan… he can't see." She looked Naruto in the eye, feeling concerned and nervous for his reaction.

The blond let the information sink in before reacting. "He's… blind?" he questioned once more. Tsunade closed her eyes and nodded. "He can no longer activate the Sharingan."

Naruto gulped. "Is it… temporary?"

"That's the thing. His eyesight has gone totally black. But if the medical team and I can come up with a cure, then we may be able to fix it. We'll call it temporary for now, but.. If we can't come up with anything, it will become permanent damage." Tsunade closed her eyes again. "He seems normal. No more plans of running away, no threats. We'll have to keep him in the hospital since he's unable to live on his own... poor kid."

Suddenly the impulses in the blond's body went wild.

"Wait." Naruto said.

Tsunade raised an eyebrow at him. "Yes?"

"Let him stay with me."

"Naruto…"

"I'll take care of him. It'll be better than him staying in the hospital all alone except for the occasional nurses coming in and out."

The Hokage hesitated before replying.. She mentally made the pros and cons of this situation. Of course, the first thing that came to her mind: impossible. This absolutely would not work. Naruto was a real airhead and was incapable of properly taking care of himself let alone another human being. The pros of this? What were the pros exactly...? Naruto's statement wasn't really a valid reason. Him being alone wouldn't be much a problem since he has grown up that way, but that was terrible of her to think. As she gazed up into Naruto's eyes seeing all the determination sparkle... the feeling overcame her. She could literally feel every emotion he felt. That was the only pro she could possibly conclude to. This boy cared for his best friend more than anyone. Regrettably letting her emotions get the better of her, she decided that his pure spirit would be enough.

"Please..." he whispered with a hint of desperation.

Tsunade closed her eyes once more, finalizing her conclusion.

"After I check up on him this evening, I'll release him to your home. I'm trusting you, Naruto. Don't dissapoint me." She waved a hand to him and looked back down at her paperwork in front of her.

With that, Naruto was dismissed. He headed straight home to prepare his house for Sasuke's stay.

So I write the story and everything and you then all you have to do is give me a review. Maybe a follow here and there. Sound fair? great. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship.
