Raptor and I (Rewritten) – Chapter 10

AN: Hello everybody, I'm back! Like finally! Anyway, it has been almost 2 months since the last chapter. I am still adjusting to working but it has been pretty fun. I even met my junior who is currently doing her internship in the park's hospital with me and we are learning quite a lot together since we both started at the same time.

Alright, enough of my chatter! Let's get the story started! Again! Haha

Disclaimer: I do not own Jurassic Park, I mean come on, if I did, I would be doing my writing all day and would not have to work! Haha!

Now what am I suppose to do? The damage has already been done! My plan all along has been to keep my mate out of sight and sound from the other humans until I had either wiped them all out or chased them away but all that hard work has now gone down the drain!

Currently, my pack and I were stuck in a predicament, if anyone of you remembered where you all had left the last time, you could tell that if I ordered the death of any of the humans right in front of my mate she will definitely reciprocate negatively. We were at a standstill, not one side was making a move, all unsure on what to do and how the other will react.

Suddenly, the air was filled with the cries of pain and I watched in horror as Archer was trapped in the deadly jaws of the T-rex, anger at my friend's killer filled me and I charged at the T-rex in the attempt to save Archer. Leaping onto the back of the T-rex, I attacked it with my jaws and claws but it was of little use as Archer let out a final cry before falling limp. Satisfied that the prey in its ugly jaws was dead, the T-rex turned its attention to me who had managed to draw blood.

Roaring, it dropped Archer from its jaws and snapped at me but I was just out of its reach so it resorted to trying to shake its body violently from side to side to shake me off. I held on as long as I could but was eventually thrown off. I landed hard on my back, stunned and all I could do was watch as the jaws of the T-rex approach at alarming rate.

Well! This is it! I'm going to die at the hands of my friend's killer. I faced my death straight on, not even blinking when out of the sudden; the jaws of death changed its direction accompanied by a roar of pain. The T-rex with a new target for its anger forgot all about me, not that I was complaining but I was really curious to what was it that caught its attention and therefore saving my life.

I quickly got up and saw to my horror that the T-rex had Lucus cornered with no room to escape. NO! I was not going to lose my brother to the same monster that killed my friend just minutes ago. I made a mad dash to save my brother but I was too far away and the T-rex was about to deal the deathblow to Lucus who faced it bravely. I could only watch on in horror as those jaws snapped shut.

"LUCUS!" I roared in anguish, frozen on the spot.

Rae's Pov

Well.. this was pretty awkward and awesome at the same time. I was super happy to have found other human beings but I do not see Josh, Robert or Hammond. I seriously pray that they are alright and alive with all their fingers and limbs.

I could tell that Big One was not happy at all, doc and the kids were terrified while the two raptors next to me where sweating buckets from some reason. The tension in the room was tangible but it broke when large jaws suddenly appeared and clamped down on of the other raptors that I did not know.

That was when chaos broke out, I was pushed backwards by the two raptors at my side, as I was moving I saw Big One charge and jump the T-rex in an attempt to save his fellow pack member and friend. Not long after he had managed to sink his claws in the T-rex, he was thrown off and went flying into the pile of metal pipes, stunned. The T-rex making use of the opportunity stalked towards his fallen rival and the raptor on my left quickly darted forward and bit down hard on the rex's tail.

Glancing over at the Doctors and kids, I saw them make a mad dash for the main entrance door since the rex distracted everyone else. I made to follow them and escape from this madhouse island but I hesitated for some odd reason. Glancing behind, I saw the rex cornered the raptor that went to help Big One and was about to take a bite out of him. The other raptor that was with us dashed forward but it was too late, there was a loud cry of anguish from Big One when those humongous jaws snapped shut and blood coated them.

There was nothing but silence as everyone froze before the rex let out a roar of triumph and started to look around for its next prey. Big One let out a series of shrill cries before dashing towards me, I did not have much time to react before being scooped up into his arms and the surroundings flew by.

Big One had carried my like a sack of potatoes over his shoulder all the way back to the nesting area before depositing me in his nest and going over to one of the other raptors that looked a bit older than him and cooed. I curiously looked on as the older raptor broke down and cried. I was stunned, I did not ever except a raptor to be capable of tears. In fact, all the other raptors all seemed deeply affected and a few others were crying as well.

The only one that was barely showing any emotions was Big One, his face looked like it was carved out of stone and his eyes were like steel as it looked around at all the grieving faces. I sat still in my spot inside the nest unsure on how to react to the scene around me, I do not know for how long I sat there for but the sky was slowly and steadily turning dark. Big One who had not moved an inch from his spot next to the older female raptor suddenly got up and gave a sharp bark. A small group of raptors came up to him, eyes still red from crying, Big One gave them a once over before barking and all of them ran off into the vegetation.

Hours had passed and it was completely dark, the rest of raptors had stopped crying but there was still the occasional sob here and there. Rustling of the plants as they parted signaled the return of the group of raptors who each carried a large chunk of meat in their jaws. So they had gone hunting! Big One was the last to emerge with a humongous hunk of meat in his mouth that he settled before the older raptor from before. It did not seem interested in the meat at all but with a nudge and pleading whine from Big One, it took a small bite.

Apparently satisfied that the older raptor was eating, Big One bit of a large slab and brought it over to me and plopped it right in front of me before settling down next to me. Did he not remember the previous time he tried to feed me with raw meat? Oh well, I did not feel hungry at all after all the action that has occurred today. In fact, I wonder if the doctors and kids are safe?

Big One must have noticed that I was not eating and nudged my thigh, waking me from my thoughts. I gave him a little smile and a gentle pet on the head before getting up and searched the nesting area for the little orphan from before. I found the little boy grooming himself and called out to him. He perked up at the sound of my voice and ran over, picking him up, I carried him back to where Big One was waiting for me and set the little chick down right next to the slab of meat.

The chick must have not gotten enough to eat as he gobbled down the meat as quickly as possible. As he was eating and I was resting, Big One suddenly let out a small snort and quickly got up and disappeared into the vegetation. I looked in the direction where he went, wondering if it was a sad sob that I heard. A burp made me turn my attention to the chick that had ate his fill and was patting his round tummy in satisfaction. Chuckling at the adorable sight, I did not think much into the matter with Big One and settled down to sleep with the little chick cuddling up to my side.

I do not know how long has passed since I fell asleep but I woke up to an empty nest, the little chick had rolled off it completely and the spot behind me where Big One slept was still untouched. Where had he disappeared? I got out of bed and placed the chick back onto the nest and tucked him in hoping that he would not roll out of the nest again. Trying to remember the direction that Big One had took off, I went in search for him.

Sorin's Pov

The hot surge of anger and cold grip of despair ran through my body at the sight of my brother's blood coating that murder's teeth, all I wanted to do was fight that monster to the death but my brain screamed that I still had a pack to look after. With great difficulty, I cried for the remainder of my group to retreat, the rex was hungrily looking for its next meal and it set its filthy sight on my frozen mate. I'll be damn if I let it sink it bloody teeth into my mate.

I dashed towards my mate and scooped her up before running after the rest of the gang who had already made it out the exit. We ran all the way back to the nesting area at full speed, the whole time I could only see my mother's distraught face when I tell her of Lucus' death and that I was the reason for it. I could also visualize the grieving face of Maria, Archer's mate, and their chicks when I have to tell them that her mate and their father would not ever come back.

We arrived back at the nest quicker than I expected, Leon after greeting my sister and their children went to find Maria to inform her of the unfortunate news. I watched as Maria collapsed upon hearing the news, crying at the lost of her loving mate as pack members crowded round in attempts to console her.

Sighing, I gently deposited my mate into our nest before walking towards my mother who was looking around curiously for Lucus.

"Welcome home Sorin. Where is Lucus?" mother asked, giving me a hug. I did not reply her straight away and hugged her back tightly, not wanting to let go.

"Sorin? Is something the matter?" Mother questioned.

""I'm very sorry mother. Lucus won't be coming back, the re..rex.. got him. I so sorry mom." I choked out, holding back tears as I felt mother's body sag when she heard my reply. I pulled back and saw tears running down her face, my siblings came to comfort her as she grieved the lost of a son and them a lost of a brother. I wanted to join them and the rest of the pack in grieving the lost of two family members but I am the alpha! I can't just break down in front of my pack! I had to be strong!

I watched as the rest of the pack grieved until the sun was starting to set and it was our last chance of the day to get food no matter what had transpired.

"Hunting group A, we need to get food for the pack. Let's go." I called out and watched as the group members slowly got up and made their way to gather in front of me. With a final glance at the grieving face of my mother, I turned around and left to lead the hunt.

We managed to take down a large prey and after we had eaten our fill, I grabbed a large piece of meat to carry back. It was completely dark by the time we returned to the nesting area. Mother had stopped crying but occasional sobs could still be heard. I went to her first, dropping the meat in front of her, asking her to eat but she shook her head. It broke my heart to see my mother like that but she had to eat, I gently pushed the meat closer and begged her to at least take a bite. She just stared at me before leaning forward to take a small nibble.

Satisfied that my mother was at least eating a bit, I took another piece of meat reserved for my mate who was probably starving. I dropped her share in front of her and lay down next to her, hoping that I could find some comfort by being near my mate. However, I noticed that like my mother she did not dig into the meat I gave her, was she just as distraught as the rest of my pack? I nudged her thigh, gaining her attention and staring pointedly at the dinner.

She smiled at me and stroked me on my head before getting up for no reason, she looked around the nesting area and apparently spotted what she was looking for. She called out to little Marron who hopped up and ran towards her, when he reached her, my mate carried him back to our nest and placed him in front of the meat.

I watched as the brat dared to gobble down my mate's dinner, the nerve of the little cretin, my mate however seemed satisfied and sat back down. As I lay there, watching my mother, the pack, my mate and little Marron who was gorging himself, I was filled with an overwhelming sense of failure, I could not even get rid of my pack's main enemy, humans, I could not protect Archer and my own brother, I hurt my mother and pack members with the lost of their family and I could not even feed my own mate properly. Unable to hold back a sob, I quickly got up and ran off to be alone. I had to remain strong for the pack! I could not let them see my like this!

AN: Well! Sorry but this is all for now guys. Sorry for making you all wait so long but I am sad to say that I can only write when I have the time and sad to say, the energy. I often just fall asleep right after a bathe and dinner upon reaching home.
