"!" Brittany wakes up startled when she thinks she hears something, "!" She untangles herself from Santana and sits up.

"San, wake up." She shakes the sleeping Latina, "I think I heard a noise." She hears the girl groan and turns away from her, "San, please I'm scared. Wake up for me." Brittany jumps a little when she hears a crash down the hall.

"Stop shaking me, I'm tired." Santana protests as she tries to fall back asleep.

"!" Brittany pulls her knees up to her chest. The noise is getting closer and she doesn't know what to do. She looks at the clock and its five minutes until midnight.

"Britt, you're shaking the bed with your trembling." Santana sits up and gets a good look at her girlfriend. "Britt."

"!"She was about to reach for Brittany when she hears it. She feels guilty for not taking her seriously because it scared her a bit too.

"Is that what you've been hearing?" Brittany nods her head, "Probably nothing. All the adults are down there getting drunk maybe one wandered up here looking for the bathroom." She says trying to comfort the other girl.

"!"

"I mean have you seen this place and its many doors."

"!"

"F-finding the bathroom must be like a maze to them at this point."

"!" It came from outside of their door. The door slams open there is a dark shadowy figure standing there breathing heavily. The two girls scream as loud as they could hoping that someone would come help them. Brittany pushes Santana on her back as she covers her.

"Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!" the girls couldn't hear him over their screaming.

"Larry what's going on?" Mary asks when she hears all the noise, "You scared them."

It has always been Christmas tradition to celebrate it at its earliest convince. It seems as though Sue forgot to inform them of the fact that Grandpa Larry was going to burst into their room with Christmas glee at midnight.

"I'm so tired." Santana says as she leans against Brittany on the couch. Brittany nods her head against Santana's. After last night's- or early morning's- scare it took a while for both of the girls to fall back asleep. Now it's seven in the morning and they are watching a Christmas special on TV, another tradition.

"Aw Larry look at them they are so cute." Mary whispers watching the girls try to stay awake, "Don't they remind you of us when we were young."

"Yeah I guess because I distantly remember you being Hispanic in our prime." Larry laughs when he gets a playful slap on the arm.

"We can hear you Grandpa Larry and you too Grandma Mary." Brittany announces to them.

"Ha you got caught you old bird."

"You got caught too." Mary counters

"I wasn't trying to be sneaky like a certain person in this room." Santana smiles as she watches Mary and Larry playfully bicker. She hopes that one day that will be Brittany and herself.

"Someone is under the mistletoe?" Brittany's youngest cousin Billy exclaims. Brittany looks up and sees it's over hers and Santana's head. Santana hasn't noticed.

"San." She calls. She looks up and sees the mistletoe and blushes. Brittany takes charge and connects their lips in a brief kiss.

"That's my boy." Barry praises the four year old when Billy runs over Larry and Mary.

"I think I'm going to throw up." Sue says.

The grandparents handed Brittany and Santana their present and told them to go open it in their room. Everyone will be jealous of their gift. They sit beside each other and open the box.

"My grandparents are the best! They got us matching underwear and they are both girls' undies." Brittany squeals. Larry and Mary got them underwear custom made that said property of Santana and property of Brittany, "This has been a good Christmas." She sighs kind of sadly.

"Britt is something wrong?"

"No everything's great I just miss my mom. This is my first Christmas without her, at least I have you."

"You're going to have to stop being so sweet. You're going to give diabetes." Santana's hold up a pair of blue underwear up to Brittany's crotch, "That's right it my property." She laughs.

"Do you miss your dad or uncle? I know that this will be his last Christmas. Maybe you should have stayed with your family."

"Britt, I don't want to talk about it. Let's stay focused on this and stay happy."

"San… it is okay, talk to me." Brittany ushers her lean on her shoulder, "You do so much for me. Let me return the favor."

"I don't know what you want me to say. What should I say? I wish I were with them instead of you. I offered to come here with you. Yeah I miss them but I want to be here with you. Besides it's not like it's the first time I haven't been with my family this isn't that different." Brittany nods along rubbing her side," If I hadn't became your friend, most of my Christmases would have been spent waiting for my dad to come home from work."

"I know honey. In a way the same goes for me. You are the only one who would talk to me. My mom had sisters and a brother but they won't let their kids talk to me. Granny talks to me. She talks about you a lot. Granny thinks you're black. I told her you're only like a quarter…" That makes Santana laugh. Brittany loses her train of thought so easily, "She said that's enough."

"Thanks Britt you really know how to make a girl feel better."

"If you want we could call him and wish him a merry one. You know they say it's the thought that counts. I'll do the same with my mom and Sam."

"I'll do it later."

"Here I wanted to give you this." Terri says as she hands Brittany a small box.

After dinner Terri asked Brittany to follow her so that they could talk. Brittany told a worried Santana to go to back to their room. She watched helplessly as Brittany and Terri walk off to who knows where.

"I also wanted to talk to you. I'm going to be very blunt with you now." Brittany looks up from the box and Terri sigh, "I want you to come back with me and live with me and my family."

"What?" Brittany almost drops the box. She is shocked. Terri hasn't spoken two words to her since she has been here and now she wants her to come live with her.

"I want you to come and live with me." She states.

"I know what you said. It's just shocking that you said that. I can't leave with you. I don't even know you much less live with you. My life is here, my mom and her fiancée, and Santana is here. I'm graduating in like five months."

"I know, I know but think of it this way. No one will know about your condition. You could have a fresh start, have new life, and meet a nice boy."

"Meet a nice boy, why would I do that when I have Santana? I admit that my life hasn't been easy and if you had come a few years before, I might have considered it but I can't. I'm so close to finishing. I've worked so hard to get to this point."

"Brittany you can make this easy or we go through this the hard way." Terri threatens, "I am your mother."

"You are not! My mom is on a holiday trip with her fiancée!" Brittany argues. This woman who left her before she could know who she is has no right to claim to be her mother and it makes her upset.

"Don't be stupid."

"Don't call me stupid!" Brittany yells.

"You would have to be stupid to date a girl! I can't believe you became such a sinner! The least you could have done was fine a gay boy and make him somewhat straight!" The space they were in is starting to feel like the walls are closing in. Brittany can't believe she said that that and it looks like Terri has no intention of taking it back, "I was willing to accept that you were Brittany but I can't believe you would be gay."

"I can't help who I am, how I was born, who I'm attracted to, and who I fall in love with."

"What do you know about love?"

"Enough to know that if I were Brian, you wouldn't be questioning me about this. Why are you so different from everyone else? They have shown nothing but love and support. Why can't you?"

"Because I gave birth to a monster with sinful feelings."

"If that's how you feel, why do you want me to come live with you? Did you think you could fix me?" Brittany shoves the box to Terri, "I don't need this and I don't need you, if you want to be a good mother." She strains the word mother, making her fingers motion air quotes, "Do what you have been doing and stay out of my life. Good night, Terri." Then she storms away without looking back.

Santana sat on the bed waiting for Brittany to come back. During dinner she saw how Terri kept sneaking quick glance at them when they would whisper to each other. She has the feeling something big is happening. It's been close to 20 minutes since she came into the room and still no sign of Brittany.

"Come on, Britt, where are you?" Santana sighs as she gets under the covers. She's conflicted to go find Brittany herself or stay in the room and wait to see if she comes. Her thoughts are interrupted when the blonde she was thinking about enters the room steaming. She pretends to be asleep but flinches when the door slams.

"Shit." She hears Brittany curses, "I hope that didn't wake her." She grumbles. She changes clothes and gets into bed. She wraps her arms around Santana and pulls her closer.

"Britt, are you alright?" Santana asks when She squeezes too tight.

"I don't want to talk about it right now."

"Okay, I love you." Santana says rubbing up and down Brittany's arm.

"Even if I were a boy?" It was so soft that Santana isn't sure she was supposed to hear it but she answers anyway.

"Yeah, even if you were a boy, you would be my exception."

"I love you too, Santana."

They left in the morning with Sue after they ate Breakfast. It felt awkward for Brittany and she couldn't wait to leave. Sue drives up to Brittany's house and watches them get out and get their stuff. Before they walk away from the car Sue call Brittany back.

"Here." She hand her Terri's present from before, "I know she hurt you but open it. To make sure you open, you are going to do so in front of me."

"I don-"

"Do it." She commands. Brittany opens it and there is an old chain watch in it, "It belonged to your father. I heard that he wore that thing everywhere. One year he gave it to Terri for her anniversary. Now you have it." Then she drives off.

Yeah I know it's short and it sucks but I want to have this by itself.
