Only Rain

When she finally noticed, it was too much for her to take it. She could deal with him not loving, actually, she was used to him not loving her. However, knowing he loved another was just too much for her to bear.

It started to rain over her, and she didn't even notice. The pain was so much she felt numb on the inside. She had dedicated her life to loving him. He made her see the sun for the first time, literally. Before, all she has ever seen was the grey rainy sky. Until they fought, and he showed her the blue sky beneath her haunting clouds.

It was love on first sight. And she would have done everything for him to love her back. But her Gray-sama didn't choose her. Maybe she had tried too hard… But she was so certain he had started to like her a little bit! The way he always fought Lyon because of her, how he would always somehow end up standing by her side on fights and at the parties on the guild.

But she had misunderstood his signs…

"Gray, are you feeling alright?" Lucy asked him when they got back to the guild after the Daimatou Enbu. "You seem a little shaken."

"No, not really."

Lucy placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

Gray sighed.

"Actually, yeah. Can I walk you home or something?"

"Sure, Gray."

They walked together for a bit until they were far enough from the guild that he felt safe to talk.

"You know when we were fighting, and it seemed like we had watched one minute of our future?"

"Yes. Do you know what that was about?"

"Yeah. It was Ultear. She got back one minute of everyone's time, saving my life. I was dead, Lucy. I died. But she turned one minute back and I was saved."

Lucy was shocked.

"She did that? And what happened to her, where is she?"

"She is an old lady now. The magic took away her time, to give the rest of the world one fucking minute."

Lucy couldn't believe the sight in front of her. She had only seen him cry once before, and she never thought she would see such scene again.

"Did you… Were you in love with her, Gray?"

"I think I still am."

Lucy hugged him on an impulse.

"I'm so sorry, Gray. Do you think there is some way you can save her, give her time back to her?"

"I don't know yet, but I sure as hell will find one."

"Count with me, whatever I can do for you, I will."

"Thank you, Lucy. Just hearing me was enough. I'll try to find her again. Would you everyone on the guild? I don't feel like saying goodbye to everyone, I mean, I'll come back, but everyone would just pest me about it."

"Absolutely. Go. Save her if you can."

As the good stalker Juvia was, she had heard the whole conversation between the Celestial and the Ice mage. And it broke Juvia's heart. Not only he loved another, but he went away, probably never to come back, without even saying goodbye to her.

Her tears fell in unison with the rain. And slowly, her body began to melt along with it. She was all made of water, and to water she would return. She had no reason to live anymore. She had no will to live anymore. So, Juvia let the rain take her away.

Juvia, Lluvia, Pluvia, Pluie, Chuva, Rain, Ame, Regen.

She would be what she was born to be – rain.

"Juvia!" was it Lucy's voice?

"Juvia-san!" that surely was little Wendy.

"What do you think you are doing? Don't give up, we're here for you!" and that was Erza.

But she was rain already, and none of those voices meant anything for her anymore. That was the end of her human life. For now own, she would be just rain. Only rain.
