A Celebrity's Passing

Author's Note: I made this in response to Cory Monteith's death- RIP. I see a lot of people saying though that they won't be able to see Finn's character the same since Cory's gone.

This fic is kinda to remind people that actors are not television characters. Its not insensitivty to Cory's memory, but I'm just saying here: Finn Hudson doesn't have to be dead.

Finn Hudson is a character in a television show, and in this case, a fandom. He's only dead if we envision him to be.

I am very saddened by Cory's death, but he wouldn't want us to see Finn as dead. Finn is his great legacy to all of us. We can always go watch Finn and write about him. In a way, Finn is the eternal aspect of Cory.

Maybe this fic helps give me closure too.

I've ranted enough, sorry. Here's the fic.

Finn set Kurt's suitcase by the front door. He knew they could carry it to his room later.

His stepbrother stepped into the foyer of the Hummel-Hudson residence next to him, dressed fabulously as usual. Even Finn had to admit that, giving a small smirk at the sight of Kurt's glittery scarf.

Kurt pulled him into a hug, giving a little laugh of happiness. It was nice for them to be home together again. Kurt was home from New York. Finn shared his happiness.

It wasn't long before Carole was hugging Kurt tight just like he was her own son, and giving Finn a hug for good measure. Sure it had only been a drive to the airport for him, but he'd always be her baby.

Burt gave his son a small hug, patting him on the back, still clutching his newspaper in his other hand.

"What happened?" Finn asked aloud, inclining his head toward the newspaper.

"Cory Monteith died," Burt replied with a shrug. "Some celebrity, played in a few TV shows and movies."

Finn frowned a little. He'd heard of Cory.

"How did he die?"

"They don't know yet," Burt said, going back to the paper. "Says he was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver."

Finn seemed thoughtful a few moments longer before shrugging. Celebrities really had very little effect over him and his life. Sure he felt sorry for the guy, but he was sure there was a heaven or somewhere that people go when they die.

He made it a point to find out more about this Cory later on the internet. Kurt hugged him again, voicing exactly what he was thinking.

"We're family. We all have each other, no matter what."

Finn smiled at that.

"We sure do bro."

Author's Note: Sorry it was short. It was just something I needed to write.
