Hey there readers. I know it has been sometime since I posted. And this is a small thing but I added a scene onto this chapter that I wanted to have in here but published the chapter before it was finished. New chapters coming soon. ~Legacies~

Naruto reappeared atop the Hokage monument. Undoing the buckles on his vest the blonde removed his pauldrons and vest. Placing them on the side of the clearing along with his turtleneck, he began his training routine. A half hour later the blonde stood hunched over panting with sweat dripping from his body. Standing upright he took a deep breath and started to return his chakra flow to normal. As he stood there he sensed someone approaching. Shortly a young chunin landed near him and called out.

"Naruto-san, I have a couple of deliveries for you."

"Ah thank you." Walking over Naruto signed the form and the chunin handed him three storage scrolls. Looking at the scrolls, he recognized the seal on the first two and knew they would be coming, however he didn't really recognize the seal on the third so he set that one aside and opened the first two. Releasing the seals on them he smiled at what appeared before him. Gathering everything he headed into the trees. Hanging his cloak between two trees and quickly stripped out of his old clothes and sealed them back inside one of the scrolls.

Stepping out from behind the cloak he admired his new attire. He now wore a pair of full-length back trousers with a pair of grey laces on each leg. He also wore matching black uniform top with the right sleeve missing. Over that he wore a grey flak jacket, with two grey pockets clipped on the left side and dark grey clipped-on shoulder pads and high collar, the left shoulder was adorned with the kanji for kitsune. He also wore black forearm wraps and black leather gloves. He had tied his red sash around his right bicep. Turning to the second scroll he looked down at a piece of equipment he had commissioned several months ago. It was a large double edged claymore, the base of the blade was adorned with a molded ribcage that blended into the cross-guard that now took the appearance of more exaggerated horns. The hilt was wrapped in red fabric and capped with the pommel which still looked like a nine point crown, only they looked more like bones, in fact the entire pommel and guard were bone colored with dark red accents. And right in the middle of the cross guard was stamped three kanji that read "Sabertooth". The sword came with a black leather strap with a simple strap holster. Slinging the entire weapon over his shoulder and sealed his old sword into the other scroll. Storing the scrolls in the pouch on his hip. Taking out the third scroll he unrolled it and a big smile split across his face as he saw what was listed on the inventory. Deciding to leave it in the scroll he stored the scroll and headed into the village to grab some dinner before heading to the center square to meet with Tsunade.

~Downtown Konoha~

A masked Naruto strolled through Konoha on his way to the center square. As he walked he began to notice all kinds of decorations and a lot of people milling about. Knowing he wouldn't be recognized because of his mask, the blonde approached a citizen and asked.

"Excuse me, but I'm from out of town. Is there some sort of celebration going on today?"

The citizen looked at the man and answered. "Why it's Hokage day. A day when we honor and celebrate the men and woman who have lead our great village."

"I see. Thank you for the information." How could he have forgotten? The blonde suspected that being gone from the village for so long must have resulted in his internal calendar to be off. As he neared the center square he could see a large number of people working feverishly and could hear Shizune's voice shouting.

"Come on people. Tsunade-sama and the build team will be ready any moment so we have to be ready." Smiling, Naruto walked over to where Tsunade was standing with Yamato. As he neared the pair he saw the Hokage step back from the wood-nin and Yamato flashed through a series of hand signs before clapping his hands and slamming them to the ground before shouting.

"Mokuton: Gurande Sute-ji no Jutsu! (Wood Style: Grand Stage Jutsu)" With a rumbling a large wooden stage rose out of the ground. As Naruto neared the pair Tsunade turned to him with a smile.

"Ah Naruto good. I have some wonderful news." She handed him a large envelope. After taking it he looked inside. All the envelope contained was a single letter.

From: The Office of the Council of Konohagakure-

To: Naruto Uzumaki-

Uzumaki-san, it is with great pleasure that we inform you that we have approved your promotion to Jonin. We have come to this decision following letters of recommendation from the Godaime Hokage and your former Jonin-sensei Kakashi Hatake. As well as direct recommendations from many of the Jonin within the village.

Now despite you having never proceeded beyond the rank of Genin, we have taken into account the caliber of shinobi you have been able to defeat, as well as the caliber of missions you have been a part of. This includes the three year training mission you undertook alongside the late Sanin, Lord Jiraiya.

Our congratulations to you. And we wish you the best of luck in your service to the Leaf.

Naruto read the letter over again. Then he looked at Tsunade. "So I am a Jonin now?"

"Yes congratulations. I am also naming you to my personal security detail." As she finished she reached into her kimono and drew out the blonde's hitai-ate. She then held it out to him. "You once said that when someone puts this on, they swear an oath to protect their comrades and never let them die. Can I trust you to protect me, your Hokage?"

Naruto stood silently staring at the hitai-ate. Then he reached up and removed his mask. He held the mask out, offering it to the Hokage. Tsunade took hold of the mask, at the same time, Naruto took hold of the hitai-ate. Lifting it up he tied it around his forehead and then he knelt in front of Tsunade.

"I am yours to command, Hokage-sama. I shall be your sword and shield, to be used as you see fit." Tsunade smiled.

"Stand now Naruto Uzumaki, Jonin of the Leaf and personal bodyguard of the Hokage." Naruto stood up and moved to stand beside the Hokage.

~Two Hours Later~

Naruto stood in the shadows of the curtains of the stage. Watching as Tsunade was performing for the Hokage Day celebration. As he surveyed the crowd his eyes locked onto Mebuki, who was standing in the second row holding Naruka in her arms. He smiled and went back to watching Tsunade speak.

"Now as many of you know I am the granddaughter Hashirama Senju of the legendary Shodai Hokage, and the grandniece of his successor Tobirama Senju the Nidaime Hokage. However I am not the only descendant of one of our Hokage." She then motioned for Naruto to step forward. As it was an order from his Hokage the blonde stepped forward. "Please allow me to introduce you all to Naruto Uzumaki the Hero of the Leaf. But that is not his true name. He is in fact Naruto Namikaze, the only son of Minato Namikaze the Yondaime Hokage. Naruto is there anything you would like to say?"

The blonde reached into one of the pockets on his vest and withdrew a small black object. Stepping up to the front of the stage.

"I have only one thing to say. Mebuki Haruno, could you come up here please? And bring the little one with you." Mebuki worked her way through the crowd and walked up on stage with Naruka in tow. Naruto continued to speak. "Now since today is a day for remembering our past Hokage and looking towards the future that their legacies will lead us to. I feel that now is an appropriate time to make this announcement." The blonde then knelt down so he was on level with Naruka who was hiding behind her mother's legs. "Naruka, come out here please." The young girl moved half out from behind her mother and spoke.

"Ho-How do you know my name?"

"Naruka I know your name because we have a very special connection."

"What is that?"

"Naruka, I am you dad." As his words hit her ears tears began to form in her eyes. For a tentative moment everything stood still, until the dam broke and with tears pouring down her face the young girl ran to Naruto and threw her arms around his neck and cried out.

"DADDY!" Naruto wrapped his arms around the young girl as she cried into his shoulder. After a few moments the girl loosened the grip she had on his neck. Smiling as he placed her back on the floor.

Staying on one knee he turned to Mebuki and lifted up the small black object. Looking up at her, he spoke.

"Mebuki-chan, now that Naruka knows who I am I feel that it is time for us to reconnect and take the next step." He then opened the object to reveal a simple diamond ring. Mebuki had tears forming and had her hand over her mouth as he spoke again. "Mebuki-chan, would you marry me?"

At first she didn't answer as she was trying to keep the tears back. But finally she was able to choke out one word. "Yes." With a smile and tears she tackled Naruto and hugged him. The crowd broke out into cheers as the happy couple stood up and Naruto slid the ring onto Mebuki's finger with a big smile on his face.

~Three Weeks Later~

The last three weeks had been a whirlwind for the blonde. He was engaged and now a fixture in his daughter's life. After 14 years he had finally moved out of his trashy apartment in the slums and had moved into Mebuki's house. Despite it being more than large enough, the young family was looking for a new home. The wedding was scheduled for the end of the week and Naruto could not wait.

Currently we find him standing outside of the Hokage's apartment. Despite his orders had been to report to the door at 7:00 AM, he had been there at dawn well ahead of the rest of the ANBU security detail. Now while every member of the Hokage's security team outranked Naruto in shinobi terms, Tsunade had made him head of her security and her personal bodyguard. This meant that when on duty, he was their commanding officer. Most of the team had no issues with it as some had even been part of his watch team as a child, there were a few who had difficulty accepting a green jonin being their commander. Others were of the opinion that the Kyuubi's Biju should not be in that positon of authority. Naruto silenced that by showing them that A; the fox was no longer sealed with in him, and B; he had complete mastery of the foxes he did summon. The one's that still had problems were quickly reassigned.

Checking his watch, he saw the minute hand tick over the 6:30 mark and just as they had been trained the four members of the morning watch shunshined into the hallway. The morning team consisted of two members of the ANBU First Response Division; Hawk and Bear, and two members of the ANBU Black Ops Division; Dog and Cat. Naruto locked eyes with both Dog and Cat for a moment as he knew both of them personally. Breaking away he spoke.

"Good morning team."

"Good morning Naruto-taichou!" All four members parroted back to him causing Naruto to smile a little.

'I don't think I will ever get over the idea that Kakashi-sensei calls me that. Now the rest I think I'll eventually get over it, but probably not Kakashi.' The Dog masked ANBU smiled as his former student smiled at being referred to as captain.

"Alright team, today is the first day of the Uchiha's trial. So we are going to have to be extra vigilant. He may be a traitor, but he is an Uchiha. This means that there is a large faction of the village that want to see him go free, or at least live. Now I have my own opinions about it, as I'm sure each of you do as well." The four looked at each other before looking back at Naruto. "While ANBU intelligence doesn't believe that anyone will try anything too drastic, there have been rumors that if the Uchiha doesn't go free there may be riots or worse. So we are going to be pulling double duty today; in addition to protecting the Hokage, we will also be spearheading the crowd control during her transit to the ANBU tribunal chamber. Understood?"

"Hai!"

"Good. Now I want us in four corners formation till she is ready to leave. During the walk to the Hokage tower; Dog you will be on the rooftops, Cat will be in the alleyways, Bear will be out in front, Hawk will be in henge as part of the crowds and I will be with the Hokage herself. We will return to four corners upon arrival at the tower. We'll discuss the transit to the tribunal when the time comes. Understood?"

"Hai."

"Okay, we have a half hour till she should be awake. Take your positions and wait for my signal." With a nod all four ANBU vanished.

The four corners formation is the basic ANBU security formation as it places a guard at each compass point at a distance of 10 meters. Now this can be adjusted as needed.

Naruto's watch beeped and he didn't even have to look at it to know it was 7 AM. The Hokage was expected to wake up at 7 but if left to her own devices the blonde woman wouldn't get out of bed till almost 10. But knowing how she was in the morning, Naruto waited till the second beep on his watch at 7:15. Once that happened he knocked on the door and called out.

"Tsunade-sama? Are you awake?" As with every morning he received no answer, so he waited till the third beep at 7:20. At this time he entered the apartment and created a Kage Bushin and sent it up the stairs to wake the Hokage. After a few moments the memory of the clone getting punched in the face returned to him as he heard the blonde woman grumbling about annoying boys. Smirking the jonin waited till he heard the sound of her shower turning on before creating three shadow clones and set them to work getting everything in order for her morning, doing things like preparing her breakfast, getting out clean clothes and making her bed as well as any other odd tasks.

Now while this wasn't something he had to do, since it was Shizune's job as the assistant to the Hokage. But Naruto saw no reason why he shouldn't help them both out, since Shizune was late most mornings. He let the brunette take credit for everything so she stayed on good terms with her master. At 7:30, Tsunade exited the shower and began to get dressed. Five minutes later Shizune rushed in only to find Naruto sitting in the living room reading the paper as his clone was finishing preparing the Hokage's breakfast. The brunette sighed as she knew that she owed the blonde another bowl of ramen. At first she thought their deal would be fine. Any day that she was late in the morning and Naruto had to do her tasks she would owe him a bowl of ramen. What she hadn't counted on was that he would completely change his life with his new position. In the three weeks since his promotion she had only beaten him three times. Hanging her head, she headed into the kitchen to take up the task of finishing breakfast as the clone dispelled himself and his memory returned. Naruto chuckled as he read the paper, hearing Tsunade's door open he leapt into his positon. Folding the paper he placed it on the table and had taken up his post next to her front door before she had even reached the landing. Walking into the main floor the Hokage surveyed the scene. At first everything seemed as it should, until she noticed that Shizune had only done half her makeup. Now unbeknownst to her apprentice and Naruto, the blonde knew of their arrangement, so seeing the brunette looking like that but working on their breakfast like everything was normal told her that Naruto had beat her again. Chuckling to herself, she walked into the dining room.

"Shizune, go wash up before we eat."

"Right away milady." With a bow she exited into the bathroom, and a few seconds later loud gasp was heard by the two blondes who looked at each other and laughed. They both knew she had seen herself in the mirror and saw the state of her makeup. Five minutes later the brunette exited now with complete makeup. After the two women finished eating they went over the day's agenda which was dominated by the tribunal of Sasuke Uchiha. Once they were ready to leave the three exited the apartments. Once they reached the street Naruto spoke into the radio he wore around his neck.

"Ok team we're moving out. Into formation, call out anything of concern."

The radio crackled. "Understood Taichou." With confirmation from his team the group began their walk to the Hokage tower.

~At the Hokage Tower~

The walk to the tower was relatively uneventful, mostly just villagers pleading with the Hokage to either spare the Uchiha or execute him. Naruto was currently standing with his back against the wall of the Hokage's office as Tsunade attempted to conquer the mountain of paperwork that covered her desk. Sighing the blonde woman turned to her bodyguard.

"Naruto, could you please go get me something to eat? I fear I won't have time for a normal lunch."

With a nod he stood up from his leaning position. "As you wish Hokage-sama, what would you like today?"

"I don't care, surprise me." With a nod the Jonin created a shadow clone without the use of seals and sent the clone on its way. After watching it the Hokage spoke.

"Naurto, do you use shadow clones for everything?"

"Pretty much, you should try it with that paperwork. I know you have more than enough chakra to sustain at least one or two clones." At his words the blonde woman's expression stalled as she processed what he had said. Slapping her forehead she formed the cross seal and two clones popped into being. Sitting back the woman let out a deep breath.

'Finally I have an answer to all this paperwork. Now that I think about it, all the past Hokage were masters of that jutsu. No wonder they all didn't go insane. Leave it to Naruto to remind me of this.'

With a chuckle she stood up from her desk and walked over to the small sitting area on far side of the room. "Naruto, have your clone get you something to eat and come join me."

"As you wish Hokage-sama." With that he created another clone so it had a memory of the conversation before dispelling it so the first clone would know.

In about ten minutes the clone returned with some sushi and a bottle of sake. Naruto took the items from the clone as it moved to take his position on the wall. The blonde then walked over and joined Tsunade. As they were eating Shizune came in and first was confused why there was two Tsunade's working at the desk, then she noticed the two blondes eating and chatting. She then realized that the two Tsunade's and the Naruto watching were all clones. After a moment she completely forgot why she had come in, but instead she walked over to the pair and got their attention.

"Naruto, please teach me the Kage Bunshin."

Looking up at the woman the blonde smirked. "Why would you need to know the Kage Bunshin? Is being the Hokage's assistant too hard for you?" Tsunade chuckled as he apprentice's face turned beat red and she turned away and left the room. As she shut the door another Naruto appeared next to her.

"Sorry bout that Shizune-nee-chan, couldn't help myself. Of course I'll teach you the Kage Bunshin. Meet me on top of the Hokage monument at sundown." Nodding the brunette walked away smiling.

Back inside the office the blonde's watch beeped. Looking down at it he spoke. "Hokage-sama, it's time we headed for the tribunal chamber."

"Indeed, let us proceed."

As the pair made their way to the ground floor Naruto spoke into his radio. "Alright team we are on the move to the tribunal chamber. Same plan as before keep your eyes open." The radio clicked back as he heard his team confirm his orders.
