#62 – Guest

Imagine his surprise when his older daughter bursts in with a huff, eyes wide and cheeks pink, whispering to him in hush tones that someone has come for their little Kotoha. He stands, straightens the lines of his yukata, and follows his daughter out to the living room, where their guests wait.

He does, however, pause for a moment in surprise when he sees just who has come calling, but he is quick to catch himself, bowing low in greeting and sitting down across from their guest. His daughter brings in steaming tea in tiny little cups, and quickly retreats.

He takes a few moments to take everything in—the straight expression, the stiff set of the shoulders, the stillness of the seiza position, the callous-worn hands resting deceptively calmly on strong thighs. A stubborn one, this one, he can tell with a slight crinkle of his eyes. But he is no pushover, himself, as the former Shinken Yellow.

Even if the one sitting across from it is the nineteenth head of the Shiba Clan, defeater of the Gedoushuu.
