Dear Diary,
It's been two days and Leah's still alive. I guess that's good news. There has to be some way for me to save her. Just because we weren't able to find a cure before didn't mean that one didn't exist. I wonder if Bonnie can help me.
I got out of the shower and put on a black strapless dress with a lavender beanie, black heels and black socks with green stripes. I walked into the living room to see Leah…standing in the sunlight…without her ring. I rushed over and tackled her out of the way and certain death.
"I'm not going to let you give up." I told her.
"I'm going to die." Leah responded. "Just let me do it with dignity."
"No, I'm going to find a cure." I replied as I grabbed her and locked her in the dungeon. "Now stay here until I figure this out."
"All you're doing is delaying the inevitable, Sara." She remarked. "I'm going to die and there's nothing you can do about it."
"I refuse to accept that." I stated before I walked out. I decided to go to the person that knew the most about the supernatural world. I found her in the witch house.
"What are you doing here?" Bonnie asked me.
"Leah was bitten by Tyler the other night." I explained. "I needed you to see if there was any way that you could find a cure."
"I don't know how I would do that." Bonnie replied.
"Maybe the witches know." I declared. "Do you think that you could channel them?"
"I can try." Bonnie replied as she began to cast a spell. She then convulsed as I realized that she was being possessed again.
"Bonnie?" I asked. It would at least help me find out who was doing it.
"Hello Sara." Emily's voice remarked. "What is it that you want?"
"I wanted to know if there was a cure for a werewolf bite." I stated.
"You shouldn't mess with the balance of nature." Emily declared. "There will be consequences."
"I need the cure. Please tell me." I begged.
"No." Emily replied before she released Bonnie and the witch fell to the floor. I went and woke her up.
"Did it work?" She asked.
"No Emily didn't tell me anything." I explained. "Please try again."
"I don't want to do that again." Bonnie remarked. "But I was able to make one word out: Rebekah."
So that meant that Rebekah knew something about the cure. I would have to find her. I hoped that she would still be in the same place. I had to admit that I was nervous considering the fact that we had tried to kill her. I knew that there was the deal that Elena made with her, but I had no way of knowing if she would stick to that. I had no way of knowing her honor. For all I knew, she lied to Kol to make it so he wouldn't kill her.
I decided that I would find Jeremy and tell him of my intentions. Since I didn't know what Rebekah would want, I didn't know if I would make it out of there alive. It did seem like it would be a good time to find out what she meant when she said that she had plans for me.
I figured that the best place to look for him would be town square. There was a showing of Gone with the Wind, which apparently an annual tradition. I wasn't entirely sure why because it didn't exactly paint Southerners in a good light. It was too bad that I didn't have time to show Jeremy the scene that I was an extra in. When I walked on set, people kept saying that I looked like the dead silent film actress Sara Cartwright. I may have been one of the first people to change my name for the film industry.
I found Jeremy with Elena and Caroline. The blonde was ecstatic to see the movie. From what I heard it was her favorite movie ever, which I still didn't understand.
"Look who couldn't resist an epic romance." Elena teased me. It's not an epic romance. It's a long movie about a girl who gets dumped.
"Hey, can I talk to you two?" I asked. With that, Jeremy, Elena, and I went away from the crowd.
"You're breaking the rules you know." Elena told me. "Movie day is supposed to be a break from the drama."
"Well this is something that can't wait." I explained. "The other night when she was rescuing Tyler and Caroline, Leah got bitten by him."
"Oh my god, she came to the house begging for my forgiveness and I rejected her." Elena responded. "How could I do that?"
"There's still time to make right with her." I told her. "She's at the house right now."
"So is she just going to die?" Jeremy asked.
"Well according to the witches, there is a cure." I answered. "The only problem is the person who knows about it isn't exactly favorable."
"What do you mean?" He responded.
"The person who knows about it is Rebekah." I explained. "I need to see if I can get it from her."
"She'll kill you." Jeremy stated.
"No she won't. She had the chance to kill me but she said that she had other plans." I told him. "Maybe I should find out what those plans are. I owe this to Lexi. After I failed to save her, I need to do everything that I can to save Leah."
"Okay." He agreed. "Just promise me that you'll come back."
"I will come back." I declared. I hoped that I would be able to keep it, but I didn't know what Rebekah wanted with me. She seemed like she knew me somehow when we first met, which didn't particularly make much sense to me. I supposed Katherine could have said something, but it seemed like more than that.
The main issue that I had was that I didn't know where to find Rebekah. She had made her base in Ric's apartment before and maybe she was still there. That seemed like a good place to start actually. From what I gathered, Katherine was compelled not to leave the apartment. I could talk to her to try to find more information.
"Sara, what are you doing?" Mom interrupted my thoughts. "Why is Leah locked up?"
"She was bitten by a werewolf." I explained. "Do think that you could find out where Kol and Rebekah are? She kind of knows what the cure is."
"I don't think that I can talk to Kol." She explained. "It hurt me immensely knowing that he betrayed us to help Rebekah out. He was supposed to be the one to kill Rebekah, but instead he was the one to save her and it means that Jenna died for nothing. I'm sorry, Sara, but I just can't help you with that."
"Well I need to go see her." I replied. "I'm not entirely sure that I'm going to come back."
"I know that you will be back one day." She told me.
From there, I went to Ric's apartment. Things seemed to be eerily calm. The building didn't have any smells of death in it, so I imagined that Rebekah hadn't kill all of the other residents. That would take a lot of time. I pushed the door open to find that Katherine was indeed still there.
"Two days. I have been here for two days." She berated me. "Rebekah is supposed to be dead, so why am I still here?"
"She's not dead." I explained before I heard the door opening. Katherine grabbed me as both Rebekah and Kol walked inside.
"Rebekah…" Katherine remarked uneasily. "It seems that we have a visitor."
"I hope that you have been a respectable hostess in my absence." Rebekah stated. "So, Miss Salvatore, what can I do for you?"
"I need your help." I admitted.
"Well first I need to fulfill a promise that I made to my brother." Rebekah stated before she headed to the bathroom. That led to me being face-to-face with Kol. I glared at him.
"My sister presented me an offer that I couldn't refuse." Kol explained. "I'm sorry for breaking our deal, but to be reunited with my family was too great to pass up."
"You don't have to explain it to me. I was there." I pointed out. "I watched as you became a two-faced, gullible coward. She probably has no plan of taking you to your family."
"Actually I do." Rebekah stated before she stabbed a dagger through him. "He just won't be awake to see it."
It seemed that like Kol, Rebekah was very careful in her word choice.
"Alright, so how about we get down to business?" Rebekah suggested. "I can tell by your demeanor that you obviously want something from me. So, let's get down to business. Present your need and I will see what kind of payment is necessary for it."
"Did you study business?" I asked in surprise.
"I've taken to knowing as much as I can about the world and breaking gender barriers along the way." She explained. "But enough about me, let's talk about you. What do you want?"
"My friend Leah was bitten by a werewolf the other night." I explained. "I was told that you were the only one who knew how to cure such an ailment."
"Why should I help you? You and your friends enlisted my brother in your attempt to kill me." She pointed out.
"Actually, he enlisted us." I argued.
"Well it's quite ironic. If you had succeeded, that poor dame would have no one to come to her rescue." She commented. "What are you willing to do in exchange for it? Would you be willing to die for it?"
She then grabbed me by the neck and began to squeeze.
"I thought you said that you have plans for me." I choked out.
"So you were listening." She stated as she let me go. "Well we're off to a good start. I do have plans for you, but I'm not sure that you would be of any use to me. The legend of Sara Salvatore is well known in the vampire community, but they say that you've gone soft. The Sara that I heard about could destroy entire villages, would enroll herself in schools just to feast on the students and faculty, and lure men into her car before ripping their throats out."
"I don't really do that anymore." I replied, hanging my head in shame.
"Well that is the kind of girl that I could make a deal with it." Rebekah replied. She then went to her fridge and pulled out a bag of blood. "Let's start with this. Drink the whole thing."
"How do I know that you even have a cure?" I challenged.
"I'll show you. Katerina come here." She instructed before she grabbed Katherine's wrist and bit into it.
"But you said that you were going to draw it out." The doppelganger remarked in horror as marks began to appear on her skin.
"And I shall." Rebekah replied before she bit into her own wrist and shoved it into Katherine's mouth. Suddenly, the marks from the bite began to heal and disappear entirely. Katherine took some deep breaths, but it looked like she was fine.
"Your blood is the cure." I stated.
"I also want something else from you." She added. "I want you to apologize for trying to kill me."
"You're kidding." I replied.
"Do I look like I'm kidding?" She challenged.
"I am sincerely sorry for my friends and I's attempt to kill you." I deadpanned.
"Well I suppose that's the best that I'm going to get." She declared. "I could wait for the vervain to pass, but your friend would be dead then and I will honor the deal if you do what I want. Now drink."
I took the bag and grabbed the straw end of it.
"Now that's not the correct way." She told me. I sighed and bit into the bag, causing it splatter everywhere. I quickly devoured the contents and licked my lips. It was delicious but the need for more wasn't there like it had been before. "Would you like another?"
"I'm good." I declared.
"That's not the right answer." She said as she placed another bag in front of me. I gulped. It looked like my moderation plans were going out the window. I was pretty sure that Lexi wouldn't be very happy about me breaking my principles. I said that I would have to do whatever I could to save Leah and Rebekah was making me eat those words. I grabbed the second bag and bit into it.
At that time, I noticed Rebekah was filling a vial with her blood. She did seem keen on giving it to Leah. I still couldn't help but wonder how the delivery was going to be made.
"So how about we do things like they did in the old days?" Rebekah questioned. "Before the introduction of currency, people would for trade labor for goods. Since this is such a rare supplement, I think ten years seems fitting."
"So you're suggested slavery." I summarized.
"Well technically the term is indentured servitude, but it doesn't have to be that way." She corrected. "I was thinking that we could be BFFs, like that Thelma and Louise."
"So you want to stay up all night braiding each other's hair and talking about the people that we slaughtered." I quipped. "I accept your offer of the cure, but I am not going to be your friend. When do we leave?"
"Well first, I want you to have another bag of blood." She answered. She then beckoned Katherine. "Katerina, deliver this to the Salvatore Boarding House, would you?"
"So I can leave?" Katherine asked. She couldn't be more obvious.
"Yes, but come right back." Rebekah tried to compel. I seriously hoped that Katherine would hand it over.
After I was done with the bag, Rebekah took me to a warehouse where there were five coffins. One of them was empty until she put Kol inside of it.
"So I'd like to get out of this town." She explained. "But before we go, I brought you a gift. Come."
It was the bartender from the Grill, who looked very scared.
"I could compel him, but I think a true vampire who should enjoy the hunt." Rebekah explained before looking to the man. "You have a 10 second head start."
He began to ran and I chased after him, sinking me throat into his neck and covering my dress with blood like I was Carrie. It tasted so good.
To be continued...
