Hey guys for the record, I went back through and rewrote the first few chapters 'cause it's been so long since I wrote for this and I need to fix some of the characterization and grammar and point of view and I don't even have chapter 3 on my laptop to reread.
Edit: Okay so I got chapter 3 and fixed it up nice and pretty, too.

It wasn't until near the end of the week that Percy learnt Caedis' history and about the other ruling families.
"There's technically eight ruling classes," she had explained over dinner on Saturday. She wasn't a horrible cook, but she most certainly was not the best, either. She then paused to explain about the Staff of Power. She had never seen it herself, but she knew all about the Shards of Power. "I'm the oldest of the Storm family, and we still have ours."
"Then why don't you have the feather?" He had asked.
"Well, when my brother - my twin - and I were eleven, we dueled for it. It was a duel with swords and he had been getting training while I had not. He, of course, won that battle." She had sighed. "Anyways, the ruling families. There's me and Raegis, Daestin and Maedas. The a-e combo is a family tradition, don't ask. Both Daestin and Maedas are in school now, Daestin's Storm and Maedas is Fire. Raegis nearly disowned Maedas for it but I, uh, may or may not have given him a bloody nose for it. I used to have another brother but he died four years ago.
"The Balance family, eleven years ago, was the largest. Slowly they've been dying off one by one. The first two to go were a set of girl twins, then another girl, a pair of fraternal twins, another set of girls. They died in order with their age and then, two years ago, the mother and father died, leaving the youngest - D'atarro - alive. I actually haven't seen him in a while, outside of Gatherings. He's thirteen.
"The Celestial family doesn't have their own planet, though they have - er, had - a family home in Azteca. The parents died two years ago, leaving their triplets - they're ten - to be taken in by Headmaster Ambrose. Aris, Aeris and Eris. Again, don't ask. The middle one is the technical head for whatever reason, for she has the feather, but no one knows why or how that happened.
"Then, of course, there's Ruku, the last remaining Death. Because he gave up his Shard of Power, he's technically not allowed in Gatherings anymore, but then again, I'm not supposed to be there either, considering that Raegis is the heir and not me. However, I have until our seventeenth birthday to contest for power, which means that I'm allowed.
"Then there's little six-year-old Shia Life. Her mom died when she was two and her dad had died literally a day after she was born. When her mom died, her aunt took her in and died not long after. Since then she had been changing hands from family member to family member. There's only one or two of the whole family left, including her.
"The Fire family gave away their Shard of Power long ago, not long before the current heir, Nicole, was born. She did have a brother, but he died.
"The Ice Family is a bit complex. The mother has had four husbands and three other kids, all of whom have died. Speculation says that she killed them, but no proof has been found. Each kid died not long after they turned ten and enrolled to Redwood Academy and went into a class other than ice. The one alive right now, Aisar, is twelve and an ice student.
"The only one left is Rozan. Ugh."
"Ignore her," Ruku had interrupted. "The Storm and Myth families have been enemies for years, and it carries over into their classes at school. Most myth students hate Storm students. I mean, of course, the teachers of the classes are not the head of the family, and the teachers of the two discour- eheh, well, I can't say that, technically. The Storm Teacher discourages such inner-student fighting, but the Myth one hates everyone, including his own students. It's rumored that it's because his own wife was killed by a storm-class wizard, but again, we have no proof of it."
Percy's head had been swimming. He couldn't even sort it out. It was a whole lot of information in next to no time at all.
And then, the next day, they left to go to school.
Percy found the wizard's way of travel to be disorienting, the teleportation. He decided that he'd get the details about how to do it later. It probably got better the more it was done.
When they got to Wizard City, the two lead the confused and awe-struck demigod down to the Headmaster's room.
It was hard for Percy to keep track of their conversation, for they used a million terms he hadn't quite understood yet.
All he knew is that he was now enrolled into this weird school.
And then the headmaster slid a book over to him with a quiz for him to take.
To no one's surprise, Percy became a Storm-class wizard.
"Oh, Hell no."
"Come on, everyone's wearing them." Caedis said, sighing.
"These are dresses, not robes."
"Would you rather borrow some of my brother's?" She asked, rolling her eyes.
"Yes."
She groaned and grabbed his arm, teleporting them to... somewhere.
"Where are we?"
"The Necropolis. It's my home during the school year, technically." She lead him down some steps in one of the panthenons. In the center was steps going up to what looked like a dining table, and water was pouring out of the sides of the slab. Around the walls of the room were various tables, each littered with materials.
She lead him around the large slab and into the second side door, where the largest bed he had ever seen was. There was also a massive wardrobe across the other wall, and this is where she lead him to.
"Choose something." She said, crossing her arms. "He won't miss any of it. He doesn't come here anymore."
He ended up choosing a purple and green outfit with a silver belt and silver shoulderpads with brown pants. They then promptly teleported back and Percy was officially a Wizard.
According to her, each outfit - robes, hat, shoes - was supposed to give their user bonuses of health, mana and other things. He was beginning to think of it like a video game, which helped a little bit. She explained that most clothing had a Level Limit, meaning that he had to be a certain level in order to get the benefits of the outfit. A lot of this, she said, was not physical. He had to be able to sense his health and mana levels, his percentage casting with the bonuses and with things she called 'reducers' and 'shields' and all sorts of other variables.
She also explained that some of the first classes in any of the classrooms were about how to sense these things and how to properly use his cards before they did any real casting. She promised that it was cool.
To him, it sounded fairly cool.
