Which is why I wanted to show you I haven't forgotten this story by updating it with this chapter (though it's a bit shorter than normal sorrrryyy) and it will continue (updates will be much faster too I promise)

Thanks again for all the reviews and everything I'm getting it's much appreciated.

All mistakes are mine.

The next day

Emma Swan steps out into the fresh air of Boston and breaths in deeply. Home sweet home, she thinks. She looks around the place, almost not recognizing it anymore.

"Wow." She says, taking a quick spin and enjoying the view. Just then her phone beeps. She frowns and reaches for it in the pocket of her red leather jacket. Regina. Her screen shows. Emma instantly feels guilty about just leaving her on the floor, but Regina must understand. She had to do this. Hesitantly she opens the message.

Emma, please can't we just talk about this?!

Right, she should have expected something like that. Regina would want to talk about it. Of course she would. She quickly typed back a reply.

Later, okay. I'm sorry but I need to apologize to Neal. What he did was wrong, but after all I am his wife. I don't know what we're going to do, but I need to at least try to make up for what I did.

After the text was sent she turned her phone off. She only had 70% battery left and besides some clothes, money and her mobile phone she had nothing. There hadn't been much stuff of hers at the hospital. She also still doesn't understand how she got there in the first place, and how long was she out for? A week?. She must have passed out and hit her head or something. It's certainly possible seeing how upset she had been. Neal had actually hit her, and then ran away from her. At first she was just pissed off, who was he to judge how she was spending her time. Right, he's her husband. He has every right to question where she is, what she's doing. So yes, she had been spending a lot of time with Regina and maybe that wasn't really fair. It was just something about the brunette woman that was so… intriguing. But she had gotten herself into a pretty nasty situation and it was her job to fix this.

She finds herself walking to the apartment she and Neal had shared when they still lived in Boston. She hopes that he was stupid enough to actually go live back there.

"Regina?" A woman's soft voice says, making Regina stop her endless pacing around the hospital room.

"Yes?" She says a bit irritated by the interruption.

"I have your daughter here." The woman says and immediately the brunette looks up to the nurse standing by the door, holding her – still softly crying – daughter on her hip.

"What happened?" she asks, her voice much softer.

The nurse looks at the ground then.

"What happened to her?" Regina asks a bit more demanding.

"It's nothing really she just-"

"I saw momma." The girl says then and immediately Regina's eyes widen. What had she just said. She reaches out to take the girl into her arms, she then sits down on the bed that Emma used to occupy.

"You saw momma?" Regina did her best to sound curious, instead of panicked.

Jessica slowly nods while wiping the tears out of her eyes furiously. "Yeah. I was sitting and then she came and I hugged her."

Regina nods slowly. She was eager to know what had happened between her daughter and wife. Had this triggered something in Emma? What had she done? Was she okay? However, she knew not to push the little girl, knowing it would only scare her off.

"Okay. Then what did momma do?"

The girl shrugged once more, clearly upset and not knowing how to explain it. Regina looks up at the nurse standing by the door, hoping she could provide more answers.

"I didn't see all of it, but Jessica was crying and your wife did indeed hug her. When Jessica called her momma Emma simply thought she meant that she was searching for her mother. So she came to me and told me to find her mother."

Regina doesn't know how to feel. Yes, her wife and her daughter met and since Emma isn't that good with kids when she first meets them, she must have felt something. But then again.. it seemed so hopeless.

"That's it?" She asks, not knowing what else to say.

The nurse nods. "Yes. She left soon after that."

"Thank you. Will you please go get my son?"

The woman leaves immediately, even though there's not much she can do for the Mayor, she would at least try to help her in any way that she can.

Henry enters the room not five minutes later. "I'm sorry mom, I was away for just five minutes, I should have kept a better eye on her."

Regina shakes her head and strokes the girl's hair. "It's okay, she's fine."

Henry nods and slowly walks to stand in front of his mother. "Do you know where she went?"

A sad smile covers her face. "Yes. I know exactly where she's going."

Henry's silence is a sign for her to continue.

"She's going to your father. Her mind created some sort of other world. There was still stimuli from outside but she practically has her own storyline inside her head. She's thinks that she's married to your father and that I'm her best friend –"

"Geez mom that's-"

"Please."

"Sorry continue." The teenager says.

"Anyways, she's off to go see him now to save her marriage I assume. I don't know what happened in her mind but something went wrong and she's going back to Boston to fix it."

Henry wonders how his mother could stay so calm during all of this. "But Neal.."

"I know." Regina says. "I know."

Neal had briefly been in Storybrooke, after Emma had found him again on her quest with Rumpelstiltskin. Once she had told him about Henry, he wanted to come obviously to meet his son. What he didn't know though, was the relationship of the two women. He tried with Emma because for once his happy ending suddenly seemed to close but it was useless. Emma made it clear to him that she would forever keep him close in her heart but they would never have a chance at a relationship again. She was with Regina now, and that was going to stay that way forever. Not soon after he left, the two women got married. Henry kept in touch with his father and once he had gone away to visit. Neal knows that Emma had an accident, but doesn't know how bad it really was. She didn't want his pity or him getting involved in all of this. To her surprise, Henry had agreed. Emma was their family and they needed each other in this, not Neal.

Regina knows that there is a high chance that Neal will grasp onto the opportunity of finally having Emma back into his life. She has to get there as soon as possible, she realizes.

"Henry, we're going to drop Jessica off at your grandparents' house and then we need to go home and pack as soon as possible."

"You're going to get Emma back?" It was more a statement than a real question.

"We both are."

Emma's hand hovers above the doorbell for a really long time before she finally takes up the courage to ring the bell. Not too long later, the door gets pulled open and she's staring right at the face of her husband.

"Hey." She says.

"Hey." He says, looking extremely shocked.

The both stare at each other for a full minute, Neal's mouth hanging wide open. "Uh.. do you want to come in?" He asks her then.

She smiles and nods. Maybe they can really work this out? She smiles at the thought but it feels like she's betraying herself. Is that really what she wants?

Neal hands her a cup of coffee and sits down in a chair in front of her. He didn't change much about the place actually. She also notices the dream catcher still hanging by the window. That's a good sign, right?

"So what are you doing here?" He asks.

"Well.. " the blonde starts slowly. "I wanted to apologize. You were right. I was spending too much time with Regina."

He looks even more shocked now.

"You and Regina you're-"

"Let's just say you were right okay. I shouldn't have walked away from you so easily. Regina's still my friend of course but I think that we should see if maybe we can sort this out? It would be better for Henry too."

Neal opens his mouth to respond but then closes it again. Finally, after a full minute he tries again. "I guess we could talk and we'll see what happens from there."

Emma smiles and though it still comes easy to her, it doesn't feel as real as it used to. Must be the head injury still hurting her, she assumes.
