Never Look Back 26

"So, I guess this is the end…" NCIS Special Agent Martin Deeks said sadly to NCIS Special Agent Michelle Stone.

"Or it is the beginning." Michelle suggested.

"I like that much better, rather cliché but, I was going for the dramatic." Marty pouted at his friend.

"Don't be such a baby, you baby." Michelle smiled fondly whilst rolling her eyes.

"Admit it, you are going to miss me." Marty nudged her shoulder with his.

"Fine, fine…" She muttered. "I am going to miss you, nothing was boring with you around."

"I can guarantee things will never be dull Mich." Marty said seriously.

"How can you guarantee that?" She asked, her eyes glassy with unshed tears.

"Because, I know something you don't know." Marty sang with a large smirk on his lips.

"What? Did you finally decided on where you are going to go?" Michelle asked her back straightening up.

"I have and I think that you may be surprised when I tell you." Marty grinned.

"What were your choices again?" Michelle asked innocently.

"You damn well know what my options where." Deeks rolled his eyes.

"Humor me." Michelle shot him an amused look.

"Fine, while you were in the hospital…" Deeks trailed off as a feeling of guilt flared up in his gut.

"Marty…" Deeks looked up before grunting as she whacked him over the head Gibbs-style.

"Did you just Gibbs head slap me?" His hand flew up to the back of his head, scratching his blond mop of hair.

"Damn right I did." She huffed, crossing her arms. "How many times did I have to tell you, that was NOT your fault? I saved your life because you are one of my best friends and I know you would have done the same thing for me." Michelle laid her hand on Deeks' slightly tanner forearm.

"Thanks Mich… Anyways Director Vance called me into his office and laid out my options." Michelle settled in for her friend's story. "Option one: I go back to my LA OSP office and that team. Option two: I join Team Gibbs as the boss man himself requested me for his team himself! Option three, that I think I am going to go with…"

"Don't leave me hanging!" Michelle was bouncing on the balls of her heels.

"Option three is what Vance called as a 'split ownership', I feel like a child in a divorce seriously. Anyways the gist of it is that half the year I am going to be here in DC with Team Gibbs and the other half in LA with Team Hetty."

"No freaking way!" Michelle gaped at her friend with wide eyes.

"Freaking way!" Marty copied his friend's expression. "Vance told me that was one of the longest conference calls he had ever had. Both teams were there and had compelling arguments from both sides. Finally it was Hetty who came up with the idea once she saw both sides were not going to give."

"That is the 1st time I have ever heard of a 'split ownership' agent. You are one of a kind however Marty and if it was going to happen it would happen to you." She shook her head with a fond smile on her lips. "Wait… Where are you going to live when you are down here and over there?"

"Aha, got that covered!" Marty cried in triumph. "Whilst I'm here in DC, I am going to be bunking with Tony. I got offers from Abby and surprisingly Gibbs, as well but Tony asked first is extremely excited about it." Marty smiled remembering how Tony had already planned on buying a futon to replace his couch. Abby offered to bring in a new coffin for him, he had to respectfully decline the Goth's offer and Gibbs just grunted and said he, like Tony had access to his guest bedroom whenever he needed it.

"Then when I'm back out in LA, I am surprisingly crashing with Callen, Sam and Kensi promised to watch Monty while I'm in DC and Callen is fine with Monty when I am there."

"Well it sounds like you have got this all figured out huh?" Michelle smiled, happy for her friend.

"Yeah, I think it will work out for the best… What about you? Have you gotten your assignment yet?" Marty redirected the conversation towards his friend.

"Right here in DC, I'm the newest probie for Agent Balboa's team. So it looks like I'll be seeing you around the office huh?"

"Wow! Congratulations Michelle! You've earned it!" Marty embraced his friend.

"Ha-ha-ha, thanks Marty. I think Gibbs put in a good word for me after someone told him I was had the potential for being a great agents." She gave him a pointed look, he at least had the decently to look slightly guilty.

"I think that taking a bullet for me like that may have had something to do with it." Marty tried to save face.

"Maybe a little bit, but I stat Monday." She said trying to not sound like a giddy schoolgirl.

"Guess I'll be seeing you then." Marty stated and Michelle stared at him. "Yeah I'm starting my 'split ownership' here in DC."

"Goddamn it Marty!" She punched his arm glaring at him. "When you called me for drinks I thought it was for me to say good-bye!"

"Sorry Mich." Marty honestly stated. "I didn't mean to freak you out."

"Don't do it again and buy the next round and I'll consider forgiving you." Michelle tapped her empty glass with raised eyebrows.

"Are we invited in on this, or is this a date?" A voice rang out and the duo turned around in surprise to see Callen, Sam, Kensi, Tony, McGee, Abby and Ziva all standing there with a type of smile on their lips.

"Marty's paying so, it's a free for all." Michelle raised her now full glass in a salute before knocking it back.

"Hey, only for you Mich. I know how much alcohol you can take, but these guys." He waved his arm at the large group behind him. "They can go all night!"

"That is correct." Ziva smirked and Kensi giggled as the duo moved to a larger table to accommodate the newcomers.

"See they even agree with me." Marty said in triumph and Michelle rolled her eyes.

"Whatever you say Deeks." Sam laughed as they all ordered their drinks and some food.

"Why are you guys down here?" Marty asked once the food and drink came to their large pressed together tables.

"You aren't glad to see us?" Abby questioned, her lower lip quivered.

"Ah, no of course I am, Abby…" Marty backpedaled before Abby laughed and nudged Tony who was grinning. "Sneaky freaking Goth, you're lucky I love you." Abby just grinned before sipping her blood red drink.

"So you don't love us Deeks, I'm hurt." Callen smirked and Deeks matched that smirk.

"Nah man, I love you guys just as much." Marty snatched a French fry from Callen's plate who just shook his head.

"So you took the directors offer?" McGee asked twirling his pasta around his fork.

"I did, you both get the pleasure of having me on your teams for 6 months." Deeks grinned happily.

"Oh god, half a year." Kensi shook her head before dodging a flying French fry whilst laughing.

"Love you too fern, but aren't you lucky that I am starting here first." Deeks wiggled his eyebrows and Tony grinned widely.

"Why do you think we are down here?" Sam questioned. "Nell and Eric wanted to come but they couldn't."

"I'll Skype them later." Deeks assured his LA team. "However I feel special that you all came down to see little old me."

"Well we figured, we wouldn't be seeing your shaggy hair around for another 6 months so we figured we better come see you before Gibbs has you running off on some assignments." Kensi explained spearing a piece of steak from her steak salad.

"Oh Gibbs is looking forward to it." Tony spoke up.

"Yes he truly is, he even got Tony and McGee to re-arrange the bullpen to make room for a new desk for you." Ziva added in.

"Really? Wow, thank you guys." Marty smiled sincerely.

"Our pleasure Marty, we are looking forward to having you on the team." McGee smiled back.

"Gibbs is totally stoked that you are joining the team." Abby grinned her ponytails bouncing as she spoke.

"Gibbs… Stoked? I can't see that." Marty shook is head trying to imagine it.

"He was, he mentioned that you will be a good addition to the team… Or turn into another DiNozzo."

"Wow, that's a high compliment." Tony grinned.

"Or a thinly veiled insult." Ziva smirked at Tony who rolled his eyes.

"I'm going to take it as a high compliment." Marty spoke up, standing up for his brother.

"As you should." Tony puffed out his chest causing laughter to come from the table's occupations.

The rest of the night was spent bonding and the LA team re-establishing their bond with the blonde, making sure that they would not be forgotten in the 6 months the shaggy blonde was in DC.

-Monday-

Marty Deeks was standing in the elevator he had been growing used to over the time as a FLETC trainee, but this time was different. Instead of a visitor's pass clipped to his jacket, he had a golden NCIS badge clipped on his belt with his NCIS issued SIG (with the same features as his old LAPD Beretta, he figured Hetty had something to do with that) in it's holster on his hip. He stepped out into the orange walled bullpen breathing in a breath of air. He felt like he was at home and headed to the MCRT bullpen to see there was indeed a change in the desks. An addition desk was added in between DiNozzo and McGee's desks located right under one of the plasma screens.

"Welcome to the team Deeks." Gibbs commented as Deeks dropped his go bag down beside his desk, locking his SIG in the top drawer of his desk.

"Thanks Boss, I hope I don't let you down." Deeks said sincerely hoping he was up to the job of being on Gibbs team.

"Damn right you won't, ask Tony if you have any questions." Gibbs told him sitting at his own desk, he watched as the newly minted NCIS agent slid behind his new desk. He booted up his computer and started to familiarize himself with his new desk.

Gibbs just smiled to himself, shaking his head he too started to boot up his computer. This was going to work out well; Gibbs had a gut feeling about the new blond on his team and this feeling was the same one he got when he met Tony in Baltimore and look how well their partnership had turned out.

"Welcome to the team Deeks." Gibbs muttered to himself as Tony, Ziva and Tim filed in, each welcoming the blonde properly to NCIS and Team Gibbs. "Gear up we got a dead marine in Little Creek."

"Yeah Boss." Came the in sync response from the 4 agents on his team.
