So I finally watched Frozen and...

"We were originally going to make arrangements so you can live with me and Sandy," Tooth was saying two days later. "But North thought it would be a good idea to track down any family members near the area. And...we found out some...surprising news."

"What is it, Tooth? Is it bad?"

"Confirms my suspicions. I told you lot, did I not?" said Aster.

"Bunnymund, not now." North gave him a look, then placed a comforting hand on Rapunzel's shoulder. "Rapunzel, my dear...you were adopted."

"Adopted?" Rapunzel echoed, eyes big.

"Oh why sugar coat it, mate?" said Aster impatiently, crossing his arms. "You were stolen at birth, and your mum and father haven't stopped looking for you since then. Either they obviously haven't looked hard enough, or something was very off with that Gothel woman, you can smell crazy on her. We should have gotten you away from her sooner, but of course no one listens to me around here, eh?"

Rapunzel looked behind Aster at Jack, who was leaning against the wall in a lazy slouch; his gaze however spoke volumes. This information was as new to him as it was to her.

"Where are my parents now? Can I go see them?"

"This is where it gets complicated," North answered her patiently. "Your parents live in another country, sweetheart."

"Well if they love me and know where I am, then they should do everything in their power to come get me, right?"

"Your parents are millionaires, darling."

Rapunzel couldn't breathe. "W-What?"

"You're very wealthy." Tooth smiled at her sweetly. "They're very conservative but are constantly busy. Until we can get a hold of them-"

"Which should be fun-" Aster muttered under his breath, smirking.

"We'll make due," Tooth finished, shooting Aster a dark look.

"And..." Rapunzel tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "What are you not telling me?"

Just then, the doorbell rang.

"Who's that?"

"I think...that's for you," North urged her on.

Hesitantly, Rapunzel got up from her seat, heading out to the front door with shaky legs. Jack and the others weren't far from behind.

Rapunzel opened the door and-

"Rapunzel!"

A pair of slender, feminine, pale arms wrapped around her with a familiar softness that Rapunzel couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Before Rapunzel could hug the girl back, another set of arms were around her and embracing her the same way.

"Um...h-hello?" Rapunzel greeted as the other girl pulled back and beamed at her. "Do I know you?"

The two girls exchanged knowing glances before smiling at her again. The girl who hugged her first was tall and slim, and had snow white hair; the other was shorter with strawberry blonde hair; both had wide eyes like hers, but blue, and the curve in the taller girl's told her she was older.

"I'm Anna," said the short girl.

"I'm Elsa," said the other.

"We're your cousins!"

Rapunzel's eyes widened, gasping as realization hit her. "Oh my God!" She glomped the both of them and they engaged in a giggly group hug. "I-I have cousins? I...I can't believe it! This is so great!"

"We came here to ask if you'll live with us!" Anna babbled excitedly, and Elsa smiled softly, rolling her eyes fondly. "Oh please please please live with us! We may live in the city next to this one but you can still go to your old school and you won't have to transfer and Elsa will drive you to school and pick you up and-!"

"Anna, breathe," Elsa reminded her sister.

"...Right!" Anna was still beaming. "So whaddaya say, Rapunzel?"

"I'll definitely think about it." Rapunzel grinned from ear to ear cheekily and then, as if a lightbulb went on in her head, she jumped and grabbed their hands. "Oh! And you have to meet someone-"

Jack slowly retreated a step as Rapunzel eagerly walked up to him, Elsa and Anna in tow.

"Anna, Elsa-meet Jack." Rapunzel introduced them.

"Her boyfriend," Aster coughed, and Jack regarded him darkly before shaking their hands.

"Ooh, he's cute," Elsa said in approval.

"Yeeah. You sure can pick 'em!" Anna giggled.

"Guys, he's not-"

"Yeah, we're not-"

The blushing duo avoided each other's gaze, coughing and stuttering awkwardly.

"Awh, they're perfect," Elsa murmured.

"OMG, right?" Anna murmured back.

"We all think the same too," Tooth added with a girly squeal.

"TOOTH, YOU'RE NOT HELPING."

Elsa pulled into the school parking lot, finding an empty space and parking there.

Rapunzel unbuckled her seatbelt. "Thanks for driving me, El."

She locked the door before the blonde could get out of the car. "Hold on."

"What's up?" said Rapunzel.

Elsa smiled, seeing Jack in her peripheral. "When are you going to ask him out?" Rapunzel opened her mouth to argue when Elsa cut her off, "You're so into him, and you know it."

Rapunzel played with her hair timidly, her cheeks as pink as her skirt. "...So?"

"So, I see the way he looks at you. He probably feels the same way about you."

"Yeah. Probably."

"Do you want me to embarrass you?"

"Please don't!"

Elsa giggled and unlocked the door. "Have a good day, girly. I'm picking you up right after."

"'Kay." Rapunzel sighed, sliding carefully out of the car and smoothing her hands down her skirt.

"Okay, Punz, don't forget your lunch!" Elsa yelled, and Rapunzel hastily shut the car door.

"Bye, Elsa!" Rapunzel squirmed, and her cousin giggled darkly and waved before driving away.

"What was that about?" Jack asked as he approached, smirk on his handsome face.

"Don't ask," Rapunzel groaned and they hugged.

"How are you?" It was a common question, but Jack just had to know.

Still hugging him, her arms twined around his neck as she leaned up on her tiptoes. "I'm fine."

Jack nodded against her hair. She smelled wonderful, like always.

And, as usual, she pulled away too soon, but somehow their fingers laced together as they headed up to the school building.

"Rapunzel?"

"Yeah?"

"There's, uh...something I've been wanting to tell you..." Jack scratched the back of his head nervously. "Listen, Punz...I...-"

"Rapunzel!"

Jack groaned in annoyance, feeling disappointed when she withdrew her hand. He automatically began missing her warmth.

"Eugene," Rapunzel enunciated his real name, smiling up at the athlete.

Eugene pretended to wince, winking down at her. "Easy on the names, Blondie. I have a reputation you know. They don't call me Flynn Rider for nothing."

"That's because that's the self-proclaimed name you gave yourself and it caught on for a reason that I will never understand," Rapunzel teased back. "How are your grades looking?"

"A lot better than last semester. Speaking of, I have a French test tomorrow and I'm not feeling too hot about it. You free tonight?"

"Oh, I wish I was! I have a study group session with Jack, Merida, and Hiccup tonight at Hiccup's house..."

Jack shook his head violently when she looked over at him; the minute Eugene walked over, Jack had been on edge.

"...but I'll ask Hiccup if it's okay! His parents got back together recently. It's so great that they're reunited..." Rapunzel sighed dreamily.

Eugene chuckled, amused and adored. "Might as well. Just text me the little squirt's address and I'm there."

"Okay."

Eugene blinked, finally noticing Jack standing there. "Overland."

Jack jerked his chin up, making a face. "Fitzherbert."

Eugene scrunched his eyebrows down, saying goodbye to Rapunzel before swaggering away.

"What was that about?" Rapunzel crossed her arms.

"What was what?" Jack asked her innocently.

"You know what. Why do you have to be mean to him?"

"Punz, you can't be seriously taking his side right now!"

"Give me a reason why I shouldn't!"

Jack stepped closer to her, narrowing his eyes; their noses barely grazing as he spoke. "He's the one who bullied me until you came along. He's the one who started the teasing about Hiccup the day we all met. You may think he's so great, but in my eyes he'll always be a bully."

Her glare softened but didn't waver completely. "He's changed."

"You think he's changed."

"You don't know him like I do."

"Do I even wanna know how well you know him?"

That was a low blow, and they both knew it. Jack instantly regretted it, and it showed in his eyes.

"Punz, I...I'm-"

"I'm gonna pretend like I didn't hear that," she spoke calmly, tears threatening to break her strong exterior. "I'm going to class.-" She held up a hand, stepping back as he reached for her, "Please. Don't follow me."

"Rapunzel, wait!"

But it was too late, because she was running off...to catch up with Eugene.

Grunting angrily, he lashed out and kicked a random locker, storming off into the opposite direction.

Leaving a large patch of ice where he had kicked it, outlined in frost.

Elsa got out of her car, eyeing Rapunzel suspiciously as she walked out with someone that wasn't Jack, but he was just as handsome. Taller, broader. An obvious athlete.

Rapunzel didn't speak to her at all; she hugged the boy, who happened to have been carrying her books for her, and slid into the passenger's seat without a word. The boy walked around the car to meet Elsa in the middle.

"Hey, uh-here's her stuff..."

Elsa took said items and tucked them under her arm. "Thanks. What's wrong with her? Do you know?"

"I think she had a little fight with Overland but she wouldn't tell me much about it."

"Hm."

He very openly got a good look at her. "Haven't seen you around before. What's your name?"

She fought the urge to snort. "Elsa. I'm Rapunzel's cousin."

"Ooohh. Explains it. How old are you?"

"Legal."

He laughed. "Touche."

"And what about you, Mr. 20 Questions?"

"The name's Rider. Flynn Rider."

Okay, he was smooth.

Rapunzel wanted to vomit and laugh at the same time. Was this seriously happening right now? Was Eugene seriously busting a move on her cousin?

But then again, they would be kinda cute, Rapunzel started to muse, then sighed sadly. Oh Jack...I shouldn't have-! He's gonna hate me forever...

"RAPUNZEL!"

Rapunzel sat up straight. "Jack?"

She couldn't believe her luck. Stumbling out of the car, Rapunzel ran across the parking lot, meeting him halfway.

Jack scooped her up in his arms, swinging her around a few times before setting her down.

"I'm sorry," he mumbled into her ear. "I'm sorry, I'msorryI'msorryI'msorry..."

"No, I'm sorry," she sobbed. "I missed you all day and it wasn't the same and being mad at you was pointless and-"

"Can we agree that we were both jerks and all is forgiven?" He kissed her forehead.

She nodded against his collarbone. "Please?"

"You can't blame me for being jealous, can you?"

"You're jealous of him?"

"Yeah..."

"Why?"

"I was trying to tell you before he showed up." Jack chuckled.

"Well, tell me now!" Rapunzel insisted, now looking up at him.

Jack looked over her shoulder at Eugene and Elsa, then back down at her.

"Not now." He shook his head. "It's...kind of...personal."

"Maybe later on at Hiccup's?" she suggested.

He smiled crookedly. "Maybe."

...this happened!

I apologize for the longer gap. Hope the update was worth the wait! There will be more Jackunzel and well-deserved Mericcup in the future chapters, so you wouldn't wanna miss it!
